El Paso / Fort Bliss area
My next duty station is Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. I report next spring and will, pending a deployment, serve out the last 18 months of my contract there. I did a search for "El Paso" on here and a few threads mention that it's actually not a bad place for a single guy.

My Spanish is intermediate to advanced though my speaking needs work. I have a solid foundation in Spanish and the desire to get better. I can't say that about any other foreign language.

Will I need to buy a beater car to have a life in El Paso? I think cars are a money drain, but I don't want to be stuck on post or rely on other people to give me rides (that sucks).

Yes. It's Texas. You need a vehicle in all the cities. Just go on post and they should have the lemon lot. All the deployments make soldier buy brand new vehicles and sell their good old vehicles for cheap. Could buy something descent with 2500.

I partied on 5th? St. Thats close to UTEP. Cool little club with under 25 group. Dropped the ball on a set that were looking for us. They ended up leavin with some other cocks. Went to a strip that was BYOB. The mall is decent for day game. Hit up Holiday Inn on Friday night to catch you a cougar. The Holiday Inn lounge is actually called Teddy's. The women are 35-50 and lookin for some young dick. Too easy to pull from there.

Once you hit post, talk to the young soldiers. They will know where the party is at every weekend. I was able to get off post four days before I got deployed. Did what I could. I may try to get orders with 5th if my extention doesn't go through. If I do I'll see you out there in April. Let me know if you need more info. I got a buddy who spent a month there after the deployment for medical. He's a crazy mofo who partied in Juarez too. Ha!

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

Yeah, you definitely need a car for El Paso just like everywhere else in Texas. I don't remember any specifics, but there's a strip of bars and clubs by UTEP where you can go Troll El Paso is probably one of the worst cities in Texas. It's backwards, boring, poor and full of gangs. It's like a big town, not even really a city. BUT the good thing is there wasn't a shortage of girls when I was there and they're easy as hell. I was smashing them left and right. This was back when Myspace was huge so Facebook and dating sites might of made it a little bit more tricky.

Don't be one of the many dumbass Army guys I seen getting hulled after drinking to much and talking shit Laugh

Any more comments on El Paso? I have a Texas real estate license and thinking El Paso might have an easier dating scene for a blonde blue eyed guy...

Relatively current information anyone?

Ah, I have fond memories of country/rock music clubs on Dyer St. when I was there. Also dancehalls in Juarez that went all night.

Any more info on El Paso? I will likely be spending the night there on my way to Houston.

Is Teddy's still a cougar hangout?

Not the best place to go in TX. Try the metroplex.
