In my original post, I stated why I'm considering moving to LA: " I want to go to LA because I've always wanted to experience the weather, the West Coast, a proper tier-1 city, and the ladies." Yes, so ladies is a part of the reason - remember, I'm in DC now - but the 3 other factors are equally important to me. Obviously we're concentrating on the last factor since that's the focus of this forum but don't assume that is not the sole factor for my move.
Perhaps this will help. I'm saying this:
Guys, I'm thinking of moving to LA. Do you think I'll do better with the girls there than in DC given my stats even tho I'll make less in LA than what I currently make in DC?
Some of you seem to be reading it this way:
Guys, I'm getting no poosy in DC and think LA will solve that problem. I make lots of money and will drive a flashy car. Do you think the girls will throw themselves at me?
With that said, I've got lots of great feedback and constructive criticisms here and the responses are getting to the point of diminishing returns. You're certainly free to continue to respond to my original (and subsequent) posts but I will probably not read them. If you have something critical you'd like to share please PM me as some posters here have done.
@fucksong
Yep, been to most of those countries. The countries I've been to that are mentioned here often are: Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, and a few others. I've also read tons of datasheets regarding those countries. Believe me, I've thought about living in one of those countries. But poosy, while very important, is not everything my life. Except for the cities I mentioned in my post, all other places fail in the balance I look for in a city (I'm not gonna waste 2 yrs of my career peak in a shithole Polish town just to chase girls). Rio came really close, tho, and I do think about living there on and off still. If I were a decade younger, my choices would be very different.
Also, it's great to interact with another musician (altho I wouldn't call myself one, I just like music) and thanks for the welcome! I've already met a couple recently transplanted musicians the last time I was in LA and will be meeting up with them in a couple weeks.
LOL, girls don't give a krap about what kind of car you drive, and that's especially true in LA where fancy cars are a dime a dozen.
Funny, I was just reminiscing on my first year in LA and see that someone resurrected my post from 1.5 ago here. Might as well write down how things have gone here the past year...
LA has proven to be better than what I expected in almost every way. I pulled 11 girls (mostly Asian, one white/jewish, one brazilian), the past year living here, altho none after Halloween, and I dated one girl for about 3 months. All of them were 7+ (brazilian being an 8). In DC I was banging 6-6.5s and averaged 5-6 girls/yr despite knowing every good place in town, having numerous and strong social circles, and having a condo at the most prime location. In the first 3 months in LA, I was drowning in 1st dates. I think it was a combination of the new year / valentine's day factor plus me still having DC-standard swiping right to too many girls. Sometimes I'd have dates with 5 girls in one weekend driving all over the county. Obviously, I didn't close most of them and it ended up being a huge waste of time and energy. After a few months I increased my standard and stopped dealing with girls that live more than 10 miles away and became more efficient.
I live in ktown and that worked out very well logistically except for girls living in West LA but I mostly gamed girls in Hollywood, ktown, mid-city, DTLA, Pasadena, the SGV, so my location proved to be pretty central. Or perhaps I had a selection bias based on my location. My building has guest parking so, a lot of times, I'd tell the girl to drive to my place and park, and I'd drive us to the date spot, come back and come up to my place, break out my guitar, and the rest is history

I got an office in DTLA and that helped me start a social circle as well. I metroed to this office every day from ktown and ubered everywhere within 10-mile radius so I've barely noticed traffic in LA.
Two of the guys on this forum reached out to me over PM after my posts last year. I met them both and I am now close friends with one of them. The other moved 2 hrs away almost immediately and works 80+hr-weeks so I don't get to see him much any more. Both of these guys helped out quite a bit getting my life started in LA and they now have a friend for life. While these two guys are pretty good players, I've been hanging out with some serious players here. One guy's count is rapidly approaching 300, and another has 3 girls in rotation. By going out with these guys and learning I feel my game improving at faster pace than in my prior years.
On the job front I ended up keeping my job in DC and took no pay cut. Bad news is that I had to fly to DC every month and that proved more difficult than I'd imagined. I'd get a number from a girl and try to set up a date, then I'd have to fly to DC for a week, and then she'd be busy for something, and things would fizzle out after a couple weeks. Add to that a several more business trips to other parts of the US and some international trips, I definitely missed some chances here. I also worked East Coast hours so I sometimes had hard time staying up late. I'm now making job changes next year so that I will stay in LA most of the time and work more normal hours.
I also lived with a roommate the first year. I did this because I knew that I might get really lonely not knowing anyone in the city the first few months and also I didn't want to buy all the furniture knowing that I might move to another city in a year if things didn't work out. I felt really funny, being in my mid-30s, having a roommate but not a single girl that I brought back batted an eye. A couple of them wanted to meet him. I understand this mentality a bit better now. Regardless, I just moved to a one-bedroom in a new building so I will never have weird feeling about mentioning a roommate. The last time I've had a roommate was 10 yrs ago.
One side benefit of living in LA that I hadn't realized before is the proximity to Vegas. I've gone twice already, ran good game but no lay yet, and I will continue to go and experiment at least once a quarter.
Finally, to address this guy's point somewhat, I did get a nice sports car but haven't bothered with the Lyft scheme. I just don't have the time and don't want the possibility of anyone throwing up in my car. My car doesn't get me laid but I've made one girl scream "mommy" a couple times solely with my right-foot and I closed that night. I think it helped at least a little. My car also got me started with a gearhead social circle and that's another group of friends I regularly hang out with.
In the end, I'm very happy here and will be staying in LA for a good while. I believe I made the best decision for my life. By getting my own place, acquiring a local client, and continuing to grow my social circle here I'm doubling down on this city and I feel I will do much better in 2017. Perhaps I will write another annual note next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
