Went true the phone once, I totally trusted the girl in the beginning. My first question was : why do you have some many guys in your address book? Her explanation was weak.
Shit just got worse from that point on - I found what I was looking for, she was cheating.

You can never have too much information.
But understand, it is a risk...if you can't afford to get caught, meaning you want to be with the girl forever, it may not be worth the risk of losing her trust.
I do it sometimes with casuals just to get an idea of what type of girl she is, and to gauge my relative level of asshole-edness. If she's talking to a few other guys, than my guilt level of knowing I may hurt her feelings one day goes to zero.
On the flip side, maybe you'll find a text to one of her gf's that says she found her soulmate...time to say Adios.

If they are in my house I go through everything they got. I've been doing it for years.

There's a lot of crazy people out there, and you need as much intel as you can get.
