Ok - weird thing happened to me today - I'm doing a business trip in the states, and I walk into a restaurant of a small cute, college town USA.

Now, the place was somewhat occupied, but not much - I am on my Iphone talking to my Mom...of course, a girl next to me, out of nowhere, pulls out her Iphone, and tells me - "hey, you have an Iphone, thank goodness, I just got mine yesterday, and I don't have the slightest clue how to operate it"

She was cute, but not incredibly gorgeous like I usually open girls...but cute enough to be noticed by guys.

so I innocently, start talking about what I have done with my Iphone blah blah blah...and start showing her some features...

She starts asking question, after question, and before I know it - she is sitting at my table!

Now, I have not even realized this has happened, and we are having a full conversation.....about the iphone..

I was in a hurry to get to a meeting, and was not really giving her much thought other than here's a girl who wants my help.....she is nice, and very sweet, so I will help her...

as I walk out, she quickly says, hey - let's keep in touch in case I need your help later...I said, OK, and she hands me her iphone, and then calls me after I put my number on it. I say it was nice to meet her and I hurry on, not giving it much thought after finishing my meal.

7 hrs later:

I received a text message...."hey, were you the same guy that was at such and such place about 2 months ago, and you met a girl named "x", and you guys talked and had a cool conversation about x?

** now, I ask myself how the fuck she knows this....

I replied "yeah, that was me...how in the world do you know?"

"That girl you met, is my girlfriend (as in lover girlfriend) - she spoke very highly of you, when you asked for her number, and she said "no", you were a complete gentleman, and kissed her hand, and wished her a happy new year, and did not act like a jerk...."


--- interesting I think to myself -----

"We have been hoping she would run into you again....we have both been looking for you..and funny, I found you in a completely different city! When she described the way you look, I told her about meeting you today, and she asked me to ask you...and wow - it is you!"



Wow - any of you guys know where this is headed? :-)

They're lesbians, and probably serious about it as they've been with each other at least a few months, so I doubt you're hooking up with them. This only benefits you if:

A. They're attractive and will act as wingmen/women for you
B. They have attractive friends you can bone

If that's not happening, the amount of time, effort and alcohol that would have to go into banging them just isn't worth it.

I do like the "be nice to everyone...it pays off down the road"

I have really made an effort lately to be cooler and more friendly to people.

It is starting to pay dividends. (I will keep you guys updated with more concrete data sheets).

yeah, i started smiling more and being less in my own world when walking around. I was becoming too serious, but i did it in order to avoid people stopping to ask me things.

But everything goes smoother now and there is always someone who knows someone that you meet, so it helps being nice to all, but just not overly nice.

In fact, i am even being nice to girls in the 6-7 range as a friend says, those always have more friends to introduce you to.

This is one of those life lessons that I feel like EVERYONE will learn at some point or another. They might learn it the easy way by having a parent or mentor teach them this, or they might learn it the hard way later. They might learn it when they're 5 or 50, but it's going to get them at some point or another:

You never know who you're being nice to when you're doing it, it may be someone who is capable of helping you then or god-knows-when later, and your simple kindness and politeness will pay off 100 fold. Conversely, you never know who you're fucking with: it could be someone who is quite capable of doing something about it (or has friends who are), don't EVER forget that.

The lesson here is: your default reaction should always be to treat other people well, treat them the way you'd like to be treated (or better). You never know how this might pay off later when they might be able to help you, and you never know how badly they could burn you later if you disregard this and piss them off. You don't want to learn this the hard way, you really don't.
