So I have tried, with no success, to create my own source of income through the internet. There are two hustles I am now looking into, as the four hour work week style "muse" has not worked for me yet.

1. Telecommuting

This seems to be the most reputable source of finding telecommuting jobs. I am looking for stuff in the energy sector but these jobs, despite being telecommuting jobs, seem to require that I actually be in the US. I am looking for a gig that will allow me to live abroad permanently.

2. Import/Export

I've met some French people who own a champagne factory in France who have a contract with cognac. They are interested in exporting to China and using my network to create long term relationship with distributors in the area. This is a sexy opportunity but I have no experience in the area and am not entirely sure how to proceed with this.


Another thing I"ve been looking into is all the energy and environmental opportunities that are involved in Obama's stimulus package. I am sure there is money to be made there somehow but I just dont know how yet.

I can't offer any help to your actual questions but just wanted to add in that I think it's a really good idea have multiple sources of income. It's just another way of not having all your eggs in one basket. I'd rather have 3 sources of income that earn me $25k a year than one job that earns me $75k a year. That's a future of goal of mine is build a lifestyle with multiple income sources. You can't ever have your whole livelihood based on goose laying the eggs.

I heard a stoy of a guy who started importing jacuzzi´s from China to Germany. From what I´ve know he "rents" a cargo plane and fills it with jacuzzi, the rest he leaves to lawyers. He´s making tons of money.
I legalized imported cars from germany to Portugal (they are cheaper in Germany) for stand dealers. From my experience I can tell you the most important is the knowledge of both languages, in your case Mandarim and French and local connections. You will have to fill out tons of forms and make the translation from french to Chinese while filling them. The taxes are also a huge factor in costs.
Having local contacts might speed up the process and burn some phases.

That said I think you need to have at least some chinese legal advice and preferable french also. At least in the begining...
There´s also a chamber of commerce between france and china. They will help you out.

I registered myself with the tax agency for free, that gives me the right to import for 30k$ (in Canada).

Then I used http://www.alibaba.com to find my niche product.

Payment should always be made with a Letter of Credit , wich is safe for both parties.

Then used CIF ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inco_terms#...y_of_terms )

Then you pay a local company that deal with customs.

Voilà.

Wow, solid advice so far people, thanks for the help. This is why I love Roosh Forums, there are so many like minded people here who are already out there doing it or at least have the ideas to get it done.

I will be spending the next year or so in China and will be looking for opportunities while I am there. A lot of my friends are in the hospitality/restaurant/PR industry, all of which are pretty closely related to alcohol so I"m thinking that getting involved in that industry as a side hustle would be cool.

Countries that I have a network in and could potentially be of interest to me in the future from a business standpoint:

-China
-Korea
-France
-USA

I would like to add Brazil, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, and Southeast Asia (not a country) to this list.

Thoughts? I would be particularly interested in knowing more about the idea of having several hustles that earn less income, as Speakeasy mentioned. I have become very disillusioned with the whole four hour work week "make a self running internet business" idea, and am now looking at more practical ideas.

I read T4HWW and the muse is an online business based on an actual product of which the design, development, production and selling was automated and outsourced as much as possible. Also, find or create a product for an existing market demand and not the other way around. I think his product was memory improvement pills..

I have a degree in Int´l Business and worked as an intern at the US Dept of Commerce Int´l Trade Division, and that book has a lot of practical info I wasnt´savvy to.

Is there a standard template or boiler-plate contract available that should be used for securing rights to distribute a product from a supplier?

and a deal memo/contract for the buyer?
