I told you so, NFL likes to play political correctness big time. However, this time the League has gone one step too far. According to the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmar, when the Packers face the Chargers Thursday, Shannon Eastin will make history as the first woman to be part of an NFL officiating crew. Once feminism touches the best and most sacred thing America has ever had, it’s time to pack it up, guys, and leave continental USA as soon as possible. Can you imagine this woman calling a bad foul on Ray Lewis? Can you imagine her calling a penalty on Tom Brady for grounding? Can you imagine her discussing with Fat Boy Rex Ryan on the sideline after he begins to complain about a call he didn’t like (as he usually does 20 times every match the crumbling Jets have)? Can you imagine her calling a misconduct on Chad Ochocinco? It was a nice streak, America, nobody wins them all!

Being a ref is a technical thing but I do have beef with someone being in the power seat of a sport they never would have a chance to play. I think NBA the most PC and beta league of them all has had Females refs for a min and so has soccer. I really don't care as IMO all (modern) professional sports are largely feminine in nature all were bred as entertainment for TV, and all have players bound and chained at will to a small minority of overload bosses whom make billions off their labor. Players are micromanaged and babysat like children and have almost every facet of their lives controlled. A man like Big Ben can't do things he loves such as ride bikes, many players can't even play shoot-round with their homeboys out of fear of breaching their contracts. I am still a fan of the NFL do not get me wrong but to say the sport has no already been corrupted is a joke... the NFL has beeeeen corrupted since the 80's. In the 60's and 70's you had men being men getting paid to play football. Now its a whole other thing.

Case in point Bountygate. Goodell with no evidence or no real authority takes away a mans pay check without producing any evidence (Vilma) it sounds like something a female would do like accuse her man of cheating when he is doing nothing more than working late to help pay the bills she racks up.

Vilma uses clear male logic to say... "woooah here buddy". And now the NFL like a female in heat is backtracking and trying to change the direction of where it leads now that actual legal action will be getting involved.

Baseball is the true classic American sport and even though women actively play it its still a boys club where men can be men. The Clubhouse is still largely a male compound and kats used to go to games dressed like this:





Baseball was also more progressive harmonizing race relations decades before the Government did.

I have to disagree with you on the NFL being the most sacred thing America has ever had. I would have to give the nod to baseball. Last time there was threat of a work stoppage in MLB, fans went to the parks to protest and were throwing dollar bills at the players. Recently, the NFL has surpassed MLB in some regards, but baseball will always be the National Pastime.

I am now taking bets on how long it takes for this ref to get dredged out by one of the players. I'm setting the over/under at 10 games. I don't like this one bit. I think the only way I would be able to accept it is if she was built like Ed Hochuli.

I got to say that I don't see what the big deal is. As long as she's held to the same standard as the men, more power to her. Likewise, if there's ever a woman that can legitimately compete on the field, then give her a shot as well. I find feminism to be mostly nonsense, but I'm all for women's rights as long as they're held to the same responsibilities.

The breast cancer thing is bullshit, but that goes well beyond feminism. Susan G Komen is a big scam. It's a way for companies to do marketing and pass it off as charity for a tax deduction. Plus most of Komen's budget goes towards raising awareness and not actual research or treatment. As if there's anyone left who isn't aware of breast cancer.

I agree that the Non Fun League has deodorized most of the environmirent around football. Boy, do I miss players and coaches like Stabler, Pastorini, Ed 'Too Tall' Jones, Staubach, Dan Fouts, Ken Borroughs, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Lambert, Bum Phillips, Tom Landry, etc. each one of them with a trademark personality which was an integral part of the League? Yes, of course. Today every player and coach is afraid of doing something too original because Comissioner Goodell is ready to use the stick to bring conformity on track. But, even in such conditions, the games are exciting and the league looks quite competitive. Something I can't say about the MLB.

Baseball is boring, I get free tickets to see the Blue-Jays and I always leave early.

NFL and College Football is simply the best. I still am amazed that Michigan Wolverines can attract 100,000 people for a college game.

It depends on the part of the country you are from. Here in the northeast baseball is a 12 month a year thing. In the south, it's all about SEC football.

Personally, I don't know how people can go to an American Football game. Watching on television isn't bad, but there are too many stops in the game to be able to enjoy it in person. I find it to be the opposite with baseball. I enjoy watching a game on TV, but it's much better when you are at the ballpark.

I'm not big on football or anything but unless they put a 350 pound beached whale in a defensive position for the two to four game hours it would take to tear her ACL I wouldn't proclaim gloom and doom just yet.

4. College basketball
5. NBA
6. I can watch some college baseball and I'll watch the NHL in the playoffs.
And that's it.

Unwatchable: soccer, tennis, any kind of car racing.

There are 1700 players, and though they do make insane amounts of money on principal they are being dicked around. And with the average career only lasting 5 years it is not all that sure in the end either. I still believe the relationship is quite exploitative.

What do the players have invested other than time? And what other options do they have that will produce as much income for them? Are the players paying for training facilities? Are the players paying for the support staff that keeps the team running? Who puts fuel in the team's jet? Who pays for the jet and the upkeep on it?

While people may come out to see the team play, there is an entire support network that must be in place in order for the team to function at their peak. This costs money. The owners are entitled to reap profit from their investment. Players aren't owners, they're employees.

If the players don't like the compensation, they can take their job skills, and go elsewhere.
