I agree with Suits and Bushido.

Meeting someone from this forum in real life brings your understanding and experiences onto a whole other level that you cannot begin to imagine if you haven't tried it a few times before.

You may not like everyone you meet, or they may not be like you expected...but that doesn't mean you shy away from it either.
No person, product or business will ever get 100% positive reviews or be totally reliable every single time. That's just real life.

Some forums have the ability for the user to disable images/gifs/etc, I am not sure if that is a capability with rvf.

Yes, meeting forum members in person is fine, but I just can't agree with people that argue that we should disregard almost entirely what someone contributes to the public forum in favor of whether we've met him in real life or not. G-manifesto type bullshitters aren't that commonplace.

To add to this, I believe almost nobody ever met Tuthmosis, but no one ever denies he did not add massive value to this forum through his posts and moderation.

I suggest having a 50 post limit before you can post in the meetup section. Right now there's two many new members with 1 or 2 posts making threads in there. I think it's risky to meet up with members like that. You really have no information about them besides the fact that they registered on the forum.

A lot of the posters who meet the higher number of members are those with low rep or post counts.

They're more into walking the walk instead of being keyboard jockeys.

Datasheets are what made this forum what it is. All of us were lurkers at some point.

I'd suggest creating another subform in "Everything Else" for news and current events.

It would keep the lighthearted discussion (sports, video games, general chat, etc) separate from the 'negativity threads' about feminism, scandals in the media, etc

Optional anonymous links when linking to an external websites. (external websites can usually see which webpage the viewer came from. In some circumstances it can attract the wrong attention - Spam, Bernie Supporters etc.).

Admittedly, this inspires a geeky suggestion:

A virtual reality lounge option with avatars and a live discussion.

After VR develops more, we can meet in a virtual bar in a secret location anywhere on virtual earth.

Where are we meeting next? Well, if you knew where to find the location written at a certain spot in a certain virtual city, or spoken by a virtual girl in a virtual location in that city after you give a password, you would know that we are meeting in the back room of a bar in Shibuya Tokyo this coming Saturday.

This is probably where niche forums are going anyway...

It'll be entertaining at first to watch the 6'7" bouncer avatar, or the Yakuza avatars, kick out the trolls.

The problem with this is that posts get likes for different reasons.

Most of my posts with 40+ likes are hilarious GIFs or one-liners that offered no serious contribution to the forum's value (besides hilarity).

Why not reward users who can make tons of us laugh with their wit? For example, a couple guys rep'd me simply because they thought my sig was funny (check my rep comments for yourself). Hell, I'd like to shake the hand of whoever came up with the term "cuckservative"

There is a 90 second time limit when using the search function. This can be annoying if I'm looking for something specific and I need to alter my search terms. Would there be security concerns if this were disabled?
