I am starting to hate the sound of Stefan Molyneux's voice. He reminds me of a really bad Shakespearean actor, self consciously modulating his voice, from growl, to controlled rage, to whisper.

I like some of his content, and he is obviously smart, I just think the whole thing has gone to his head, and he reminds me of a community theater King Lear who got a little bit too much into the role, and is really starting to think he is a king.

Until now, I have automatically downloaded his videos and listened to them, as long as I was interesting in the topic, and I like his interviews.

The most recent video I listened to was this one:





It was supposed to be a video to encourage younger people, and to take it easy on the Millenials, and say that their problems were caused by bad parenting and society.

Instead, it was an extended meditation on how great his childhood was, how he overcame the problems, what a great athlete he was as a child, you get the idea.

At one point he even got a bit self aware and said, "I don't mean to keep making this about me. . " and then went straight back to talking about how great he was as a child, pretty much insinuating that any younger person who didn't have the early advantages of free unsupervised play like he did was essentially sunk as a social being.

The self aggrandizing subject matter of the video and the amateur theatrics of his voice, and the basic supercilious attitude, it just got to me, and I think that unless he interviews someone I really want to hear from, or tackles a subject I care about, man, don't think I can listen to him anymore.

I bought a book called "The Best Ten Minutes Mysteries" from a bookstore in Shibuya, Tokyo. Not many people know this, but the Japanese fucking love mysteries. Like Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot, all that shit that just kinda died as a genre in the West after say, WW2? The Japanese still write an assload of mysteries, and they're all really good.

All of them, that is, except this fucking book. This book, which is called THE BEST TEN MINUTE FUCKING MYSTERIES does not actually have any goddamn mysteries in it. It's got a bunch of 10 page stories about random shit. One story is about an underground female fighting ring where two illegal fighters beat the shit out of each other with silicon-filled boxing gloves and shoes loaded with iron plates in the soles. One of them is about a guy who makes an amazing piece of candy that tastes like a rainbow. One is about a man who hangs out in a fucking hot spring and moans about his dead wife.

I paid seven bucks for this piece of shit book, hoping I would get some goddamn mysteries, and instead I get to read about how some dude made some fucking rainbow candy. Do the Japanese just have some kind of massively expansive definition of the word "mystery" that I don't know about? Like, "These stories teach you how life itself is a mystery" or some zen buddhist shit like that? Is that how this shit works?

I also got a book at the same bookstore that's about how the REAL reason the Japanese lost WW2 was because they had to send most of their battleships to fight Cthulu. I didn't realize this, but there is an entire popular sub-genre of "Imperial Japanese Army fights Cthulu" books. So all in all it wasn't a wasted trip. Just pissed off that my mystery book sucks.

I hate having to keep on a happy, smiling, agreeable face for incompetent idiots.

Been wasting hours of precious time having to explain basic shit to people.

And I also hate it when people can't just get out a fucking calculator and do relevant math. They will spend hours babbling about bullshit that could be resolved with 5 minutes of physics and math.

I've gotten good at dealing with it but the average person is incredibly subpar at visualizing in three dimensions and reasoning with physical evidence.

I have to make more money off of these fools.

I've been able to troubleshoot code in multiple languages, over a person's shoulder, in complicated situations. As in, you're writing a program in X language and I can diagnose your mistake.

I hate it when stupid fucks package pozidriv screws with their home improvement products. What normal homeowner has a goddamn pozidriv screwdriver set, and why would you imagine the typical DIY noob would even know the difference before they stripped the screws trying to use a phillips driver? No doubt some accountant saw he could save 0.0000000000001% by sourcing pozidriv screws and, since pozidriv looks like phillips, he didn't know the difference.

It's really precious when I get a mix of phillips and pozidriv in the same goddamn package. I almost damaged a freshly refinished cabinet door in my kitchen a couple weeks ago because of that.

Phillips screws themselves are pretty goddamn retarded. In this day and age, there's really no excuse to use anything but torx/robertson/allen drive fasteners*, especially on tiny little screws. Torx/robertson/allen fasteners all offer some degree of positive retention on the driver without magnets, while being a lot harder to strip. I don't have fucking chopstick-size fingers. It's not that easy to put a short phillips head screw into a horizontal or overhead hole with my normal man-size fingers.

I hear we can all thank Henry Ford for the standardization of the phillips drive screw, because he was too much of a controlling dick to accept a non-exclusive license for use of the Robertson drive screw in the US. Thanks a lot, jackass.

On a side note, I always thought robertson screws were kind of retarded and preferred allen or torx. I had occasion to use some robertson screws the other day and they're actually really nice. Preferable to torx even, since the driver is less likely to bounce out of the recess. I guess I was wrong, and those silly Canadians are doing something right. Too bad stores here don't carry them, or if they do, you have to pay out the ass for them because they're packaged in little bags of 25 or 50 screws. I'll have to buy a big order online sometime.

I came a bit late to the whole 'SteffAhn' trip. I binge watched the best of his stuff in a day or two recently. The stuff on the boomers is top-notch. I got that video mixed up with boomer stuff and you're right, it was all over the shop. Reason I confused it was that Generation X were also known as the latch-key kids. Easy mistake.

You're right about the faux dramatica. I draw the line at growling like a Lion personally, but ymmv. The way he says StefffAhrn when he introduces himself grates as well. I've about as much of the bloke as I can muster.

And you are right about the arrogance. It's happening to all of them. PJW, Styxhexenhammer666 (who reads this forum btw - hi Styx!), Sargon of Akkad, any of them with more than a 100K subs - they see themselves as the new kings. Then again, you probably would too if you got the adsense revenue for that, and still they panhandle for Patreon and whatnot.

Another problem I have, and this is just a problem in general I have, is that I don't like voices and I don't like heads! I hardly ever hears someone's voice and think ASMR, I usually feel as if my balls have been put in a cheese-grater and I'm getting rubbed up the wrong way. Also, heads - I like aesthetic beauty. Even in men, I expect a certain amount of handsomeness just so they don't annoy the crap out of me when I have to look at them. I'd rather look at some square-jawed killers physog that makes sense in some kind of way, than some scrawny sarcastic looking fucker. I know I'm odd, but I have standards.

Molyneux is annoying, but he isn't the worst of them. Sargon has one of the most disagreeable voices I've ever heard. And he's also an extremely arrogant fucker. I don't bother with him at all now. He really thinks he's the Stephen King's philtrum. It's pathetic really how much their new found success has overtaken their egos, inflating them to a point where they are just about to pop. Can't wait!

Styx is another one. A supremely arrogant cunt. (Hi Styx! Love ya baby!). I tested him on a few things. My god. He's another that is about to pop his cork. Twat.

PJW is just an annoying twat generally. The voice, the facial expressions. The arrogance. We get it. You are the new kings. We are not worthy. Tell us what we do not know. What we can not understand. Enlighten us oh masters.

I think it takes a certain quality of snake-oil salesman to be successful on the youtube front. Roosh is a little too natural in the videos I have seen him in, he doesn't force a front, he just seems pretty much himself, and of course, a certain amount of theatrics are called for. It's contrived. But I actually prefer Roosh's delivery on many fronts. It's not so whiz-bang gimmicky, but then again, it wouldn't grow old very quickly like StefArn Molyneux. Pretentious wankers.

I mean this in the nicest possible way. But they think they are pop stars and they are not and they need bringing down a peg or two for their own good. They don't care though, the kids love 'em. The easily impressed. I'll continue to keep 'tuning in' while they are interesting and relevant, but if you listen really hard and watch really close, they don't actually have that much to offer in the punditry department that you couldn't get in a million other places.

I realised what a bunch of clowns they all were after tuning in to a live cast with Sargon of Akkad and he kept screaming 'autistic screeching' at this bloke who does actually have autism. The funny thing was, he sounded like the fucking sperg in the room screeching all the while the real sperg was giving valid reasoned argument. And this sperg actually has his shit together to a, well, autistic level. He is super high functioning. Harmful Opinion iirc is his name. Anyway, Sargon, for someone that has over half a million subs just make a prick of himself, like a child looking for attention - he really did sperg out.

With regard to StefAHrn Moly - I heard he has a pretty tidy sum in bitcoin and his adsense is obviously enough for him to have his youtube 'radio' gig has his main job - enough to start a family. So why does he have to panhandle for shekels? Because it works. Wonder how much he got? A few grand? 10K, 100K?

I've donated a few quid here or there before, because I'm a mug. But I have a strict rule now, no money or donations for anyone on point of principle. We put store in these people, give them respect, and you make one comment they don't like (Hi Styx! you still reading?) and they really do speak to you like a piece of shit on their shoe. "Do you know who I am?" Eh eh, not a problemo.

They will all have to find new gigs soon though the way it's going on the youtube front. People just will not use other sites. They will still make money though. But it's interesting watching them squirm now with the shtf and them having to have unpopular opinions. A lot of them choosing just to keep their big yaps shut and do non-controversial topics. I hate not having the right tools for a job, and not having a permanent work space.

Not having all the right tools often means making bad design compromises--if I can do the project at all--and can turn what should be a 1-5 minute job into an hour of fucking around.

Not having a dedicated space means it's a major league pain in the ass setting things up, taking them down and resetting shit for the next phase of the project, etc. It inevitably leads to a lot of wasted time, increased likelihood of accidents, and at least some decreased quality in the result.

It just sucks all round.
