Thanks manifesto. Yeah its sort of becoming lost and replaced by texting. I do believe though if you got the right game some of us can still pull off the phone thing.Also the art of texting is still being uncovered which can sadly take us out of our game by appealing to emotions too much since thats what we do during a text message.

I try to keep phone conversations to a minimum. Reduces the chance of me saying stupid shit.

I feel nervous when I'm calling up girls on the phone. Its way scarier than talking to them in real life(weird as that sounds). Any suggestions to help my chances until I get some more experience.

Sorry for not posting enough details. I've been starting to get numbers the past couple of weeks so I have very little experience with phone game. I'm finding it hard to shift my state from sitting at home doing homework to a social state. Any suggestions for how I handle this problem?

I have decided on a plan. I'll call up female friends and have a conversation before I make phone calls. I've always hated talking on the phone but this should work.

Also, G is definitely on to something when he said smile while you're on the phone. I used to be terribly awkward on the phone, just didnt feel right. Once I started treating it as if the phone wasnt there, but you simply couldn't see the persons face (think talking to someone while sitting in stadium style seating where you'd be projecting forward and probably not turning your head to look at them).

Now I smile, I gesture, and pretty much act as I would when I'm talking in person, makes the whole process much smoother and much easier.

Like G said, smiling on the phone is important.

Standing up rather than sitting down can also help keep your energy level up. I began doing this when hustling for business over the phone. It helps me stay on point with girls too.

As far as "turning girls on", your voice is a way better tool.

Your voice can trigger her imagination and emotions.

Reading your text doesn't quite have that same effect on her.

Also, when you get her talking, that builds attraction much faster then her just texting you.

Plus, talking instead of texting builds your Inner Game on a deeper level, so your Game gets better, faster. It just speeds up the whole learning process. If all you ever do is text, it will take alot longer to improve your Game. Like 100x longer.

Of course, there is always a time for texting, but when you are first trying to bang a girl, most of your contact should be calling. If she texts you, text her something funny and tell her to call you.

I know what you mean. I don't like being on the phone either. I'm not a phone person. Things like awkward pauses won't necessarily end a date because if you run short on things to say you could ask her to dance or start playing a silly game like palm reading. On the phone, if it gets silent, that silence is deafening and could kill the whole interaction right there.

Ten years ago you went out and got a girl's number, had a phone conversation or two, and if there was chemistry you took her out. The thing I like about texting is that it allows you to skip that middle step. Just get the number, set up a meeting time and then go meet her.

Before I got "knowingly" into game, I used to have phone conversations with girls all the time. I'd make them laugh, or whatever, and shoot the breeze, collectively wasting God knows how many hours.

My brother then gave me this advice, which I've never forgot, "These days, you should never talk to a girl on the phone unless you're having sex with her, and even then it's debatable."

Lost art or not, talking on the phone is becoming an un-needed skill, much like you don't go to the store and buy a box television set these days. You certainly don't want to use a phone call to rev up a girl's panties either. Unless you really like jerking off to the sound of a woman's voice, what good does that do you if you're not there?

I don't like to waste time bullshitting with girls over the phone either. But, If I get a girls number, I like to call her and build some comfort/trust/attraction before I ask her to meet for a drink or something. Sort of like a "Verbal First Date". Once you've banged them there is really no reason to call them at all except to set up dates.

If you just text a girl you'll join the other 8 guys who are texting her at the moment, and there's a chance you'll end up in texting hell. If she doesn't hear your voice, there is no emotional investment on her part. This is why a lot of guys get flakes on setting shit up just through text message.

Mixx has made great points about all of this in other threads. G also makes great points about using the phone as contrarian game, going against the grain in a texting-twitter-facebook addicted world.

There is no reason to spend more than 7 minutes on the phone with a girl, so yeah, wasting God knows how many hours was a mistake.

You can send a ridiculous amount of texts back and forth and maybe turn that into a meetup with a girl.

Or you can call a girl and let her hear your deep, smooth voice (that's my case, don't know about your voice) for 5 minutes. Make her laugh, set up a meetup, and say bye. I find 5 minutes easier than a bunch of bullshit text messages.

I agree with both your points about setting up repoire with the girl through use of your voice, however, I feel phone calls have more drawbacks in general.

First off, you can screw things up over the phone much easier. I'm not saying either of you, or I, would do that, but that possibility exists. Could even be something like a bad connection that damages repoire, it happens.

Second, phone calls are much easier to ignore. There's a million reasons a girl may not answer or return a phone call, just how it is, and I think that it's getting worse today. A text is often answered out of intrigue, or if nothing else out of boredom.

Yes, there's a chance you don't stand out, but that's what having volume in your approaches is for. She should already be interested in you, so you won't get grouped with all the other guys texting her, if she's not she may not answer your phone call anyway. Also, I don't really spend a ton of time texting, texting takes 5 seconds, you can do it while stopped at a red light, a train, or when you're taking a shit.

I never call anymore. I don't know if I'm just better at this now, or if texting works better, but I've seen better results with texting.

My usual text with a new girl is pretty structured at this point:

Me: Hey, what's up? (note I don't even say who it is, ever)
Her: Hey, how are you?
OR Her: Hey who is this?
Me: Good, what are you up to?
OR Me: CJ, what are you up to?

Then we go route A:
Her: Nothin' much, why?
Me: Sweet, we should go up to Charley's tonight for drinks.

OR route B:
Me: What are you up to?
Her: Sorry, I've got to study (or insert other excuse here) tonight.
Me: Oh wow, sounds 2 fun 4 me! (yes, I start texting like a 16 year old girl here)
Her: Ya, well you know, gotta get good grades.
Me (hours later): Headed up 2 Mac's bar if u get done studying (;

Note, when it goes route B, I don't expect to see her, but I'll always through that out there, even if I've decided to stay in for the night. My goal these days is to just catch them when they're DTF, want to go get a drink or two, then go smash. More hooks I throw out there, better chance I pull something back in.

Now, I should add that these girls I'm texting are all bar chicks. For day game, you might want to try using the phone. I know Mixx meets a lot of his girls at Happy Hour, and a girl like that might be smart to call. I'm not an expert, but I know you gotta do what works best for you.

Why are the quotes quoting the wrong person a lot lately? Anyway...

I disagree 100% here. Why would you "neg" a girl over the phone? That just doesn't make sense to me. A "neg" can be taken the wrong way thru text or over the phone, that should be done in person. The way you show you're more valuable than her on the phone is to not respond to her pointless texts, or small talk. Keep it business, to the point and focus on meeting up. You're wasting your time doing anything else.

Think of it this way, how many phone calls do you have to make or texts do you have to send to develop the repoire you can get from hanging out once?
