I have a pretty cool place, in a pretty cool area, near the bars in the centre of a European city. I would like people's opinions on suggesting that for a first date, the girl meets me at my place for a drink first before heading out into town. The reason I ask this was that I was reading another guy's blog about first dates (The Dating Chronicals of Tyler) and it intrigued me...

He wrote: The fact that when you came to my house and had a drink on my couch before we went out is another piece of this puzzle.

For what? showing yourself off? I rather go there in the time to do the real action than in the first date.

I think it may be best to start at the bars and then get her back to your place afterwards. You have it ass backwards. Get her drunk and tell her you have a sick pad close by and ask her if she would like to go back and continue the party at your place.

Agreed. I would bet you'll meet more resistance to getting a girl to go straight back to your place. Your ideal location makes it much easier to swoop them later.

I have heard about this technique before, and most people say it is good because it makes a girl "familiar" with you place, or some crap.

I don't think it matters much either way.

That being said, I typically meet a girl at a bar on dates. No driving to pick her up. No meeting at my crib first.

I think its a bad idea, generally. In my experience, with hot girls....they dont wanna end up with the guy they came to the party with. That's their "starter guy." I dont like that role. Im not saying it cant work for some people...but you wanna be the "other guy."
