There is one thing I haven't gotten a handle on yet and that is finishing it off with a girl. Typically, I just cut initiating communication on my part, but I have a hard time closing the door on someone for whatever reason.

How do you guys finish things with girls? What kind of rationalizations do you make within your own minds? What's your philosophy on finishing things with girls?

My last relationship lasted waaay longer than it should have because I just never knew how to finish it. To this day, I still do not know how to finish something unless there is something so wrong about the situation/girl where I just don't enjoy it anymore.

Recognize the exact point that it's going nowhere. Then cut it off right there.

Don't ever completely burn your bridge though. Be like "This isn't working now, but maybe we could try again in the future, ma'am"

If you just stop answering the calls, you look weak. If you live on an island, or The OC like I hear you do, you don't need your weak behavior flying around the rumor mill. Unless the chick is a maniac, then everybody knows that already.

You can take relationships too far really easily when there's nothing there in the first place. Girls will try to sucker you in to trying to "fix things" or make "changes". Don't do that shit, just move on.

So true. There have been several relationships that I burned the bridge and later wish I hadn't. Booty call!

I think you need to be more Zen about it:

The best way to break it off with a girl is have her break it off with you.

I like some of these. I've used the aloof method. Just act as stoic as a rock around her. Sooner or later she just gets bored and moves on.

The travel method may or may not work. I had a girl who would try to invite herself along to my travels.
