You can get relatively inexpensive suits that look pretty good nowadays. You don't have to spend 2 grand on a suit for it to look good anymore. You can send your measurements to companies that manufacture in china on ebay.

I found this on ebay. It's not the type I was talking about. It was the first one I clicked on after my search. At 55 bucks including shipping, it won't break the bank if its not exactly what you're looking for or if its super cheap quality taht you're not satisfied with. Plus, you can return it within 14 days, but I'm not sure how complicated they make the return process.

I'm not extremely knowledgeable about suits, but I am pretty sure you can not even buy the material for a decent suit for $55, let alone purchase a complete suit.

Yeah they're not the best quality material and probably mass produced in China. They're most likely the equivalent to H&M, Zara, Forever 21, in quality, but cost less because there is no marketing and less overhead such as retail costs, etc. So they're the kind of suits that you can wear for a year or two and have to throw out.

However, if you're experimenting with suits and finding your style, it's not that bad of a choice as you can buy 5 of these suits in different styles for something like 330 bucks. I see a lot of guys wearing these types of suits in Korea, and I bet a lot of guys you see in Thailand wear similar quality. They don't look that bad. When I get back home I'm ordering one. I'll let the forum know how it turns out.

1) the suit, the lapels are mad high even for a 3 button. If you rock it, don't rock it as a suit, imo

2) bright blue doesn't mix with black AND red. If you want to rock the bright blue, a tie with some bright blue in it would tie it together.

3) black and red color scheme = Regis Philbin on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. It has "door guy @ the bad club" vibe to it.

4) tie - not necessary, but depends on the venue.

5) I don't like the shoes. First, I don't like loafers. But in general, loafers are fine. They look like GATORS, which might work in Detroit, but not really the move.

6) but you feel good wearing it? That's all that matters. If it puts you in a good mood, then it's much easier to spit your game. You could definitely do better style wise, but if it doesn't make you feel good, then it's pointless.

Guys (from the USA),

Some guy started a bunch of stores of http://www.suitsupply.com here in the Netherlands and they expanded to the USA. First NY and now opening a new store in Chicago.

Jk, welcome. I've actually mentioned Suit Supply on the forum several times. It's gotten rave reviews from sources I respect, and the fabrics are sweet.

I don't own a suit from them yet, but if I do decide to a buy new suit, I will try them first. I think you'd have to spend several hundreds more to get something comparable to them. Probably the best suit that retails for under a G. The next step up would probably be Corneliani, Polo Blue Label, Hickey Freeman.

Only difference is that I might prefer charcoal grey over black and perhaps a skinnier tie. How much would I be looking to spend minimum on a suit of this style that won't fall apart in 2 years use?

On second thought, if you only have one suit, should you stick to plain black?

Welp I did a quick search, and it seems that black is really only for formal wear, or a funeral. It has been discussed ad infinitum here: http://www.styleforum.net/t/8221/is-blac...ss-attire. I would definitely say, the color you pick will determine how serious or casual you will look. From people I have asked, and things I have looked up. Out of the three standard colors: black, blue, and grey, black is the most serious followed by blue, then finally grey. Grey is the most versatile of the three, where you can wear a multitude of colors for shirts and ties. Whereas black lies on the other side of the spectrum. You can pretty much only wear a white button up with a black suit.

From everywhere I have looked, the standard minimum is somewhere around 500-600$ if you are looking for a nice suit that will last for five years or more depending on how you treat it.

For a suit of a similar cut, three suits come to mind. First, those suits look exactly like they were in an Express ad, so here's a comparable suit from them: http://www.express.com/suits-1011/contro...index.ens. Mind you, when I have looked at their suits in the store, they have always looked a little cheap looking. Another is J.Crew: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_special_shops/...21351.jsp. Since I was in the store recently, and I was interested in getting one of their suits, I tried one on. The material felt solid, and the store rep who was wearing one of the jackets, said he was wearing that one for five years. It looked like it was in pretty good condition. Also check out Calvin Klein's Body line. They have a lot of great cuts for the price, but the suits come in S,M,L,XL, not 40R, 42L, etc. So you may have to go to a tailor.

Cheaper suits nowadays aren't bad at all. You can only really tell if you have a trained eye and look closely at the fabric, lining, etc. The most expensive suits I own are a Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss suit I bought on sale for like 600 or 700 bucks. They look almost as good as my father's high-end designer and hand-mand bespoke ones. I would say those are good mid-range suits. The cheaper suits I have (ranging from 12 bucks at a thrift store to 200 or 300 bucks new on sale) also look pretty good. So price isn't as relevent as the suit industry would have you believe. It's all about cut, fit, and style.

I would suggest trying on stuff on the sale rack of a department store or a men's warehouse. They're usually way cheaper than they were last year and it's hard for a suit to go out of style. They just have to make room for new merchandise so they put them on a sale rack to help them move faster.

When it comes to color, I would actually prefer gray or charcoal over a black suit, as you can wear the gray one to more places and events without feeling too formal or like a secret service agent. It depends on your needs and preferences, though.

It has taken me years and years, to figure out what I think is the perfect suit for me. And that may change in a year.

one of my favorite going out suits is a white with real fine black pinstripes that I would wear with a purple shirt and then have a black and white checkered pocket square puffed out. Gets mad haters.

Should a tan person only get certain color suits? I've always liked the classic look aka Goodfellas style. Just plain and dark. Do they make suits that are better for warm weather?

Yeah I need help with this too, my skin tone is dark brown. The only suit I own (got it off the rack but I had it tailored) is black with pinstripes. Anybody have any suggestions?

I co-sign this. With one caveat that hopefully doesn't go up in storms. Suited up at age 21-23 doesn't work IMHO. When staying in Copacabana palace people thought I was a spoiled brat (luckily I earned it all), anyway,
as soon as girls believe you are in your late 20's go get a custom suit. Man custom is 400x better than off the rack... Rarely do u see dudes with an exact fit off rack so spend the extra cash to get it at least tailored... Custom is still better.

I saw a guy in a suit today in a coffee shop...a short asian dude. This one girl was all over him, asking him questions, and facing him the whole time while he was turned sort of away. He was sitting at a different table from her.

Before she left, she was asking for his phone number....the guy didn't even seem interested. Then she handed him her card. I could tell she was very interested in this dude, which you usually don't see during the day.

It could be the fact the guy has some good position at a company, or has some sort of status, which is probably why he was wearing a suit, and had to be somewhere shortly.

Can I just sit in a coffee shop wearing a suit, and if the girl asks why, just say I enjoy it?

Usually, you can never go wrong with black, navy blue and light gray no matter what your skin color. Although if I had to pick just one shade, it'd be black without any question. But a LOT depends on the fitting as well.

If you still have doubts, I'd say you should goto a store and try out a few shades to see what looks best on you, perhaps take self pics to compare later on.

Rurik, Im 25 and look young as well. Just the other day I was at a function where I got asked how old I was several times. The running average was just shy 20.

The other day I was suited up walking downtown in my nearest city going to eat lunch with my girlfriend. I got chatted up at a coffee shop while waiting for my girl to get on her lunch break. My girlfriends gay boss also saw us together and asked her "who was that guy you were with at lunch? He was absolutely stunning."

I was a party with my girl suited. Her best friend came up and starting playing with my pocket square and telling me my cologne smelled awesome. She damn near lost it when I pulled my flask out and poured myself a drink, saying I reminded her of that guy in White Collar (which then started a conversation between my girl and her about how hot that guy was). She came over to our place and was tipsy and talking to my girlfriend about the way she shaves her pussy. I got her to show us and was going to try to work some threesome game, but her boyfriend called and was all jealous and caused so much problems she went home.

I walked into an office building and the receptionist comment and how much she loved my purple shirt. She loved it enough to comment again on my out and even call another receptionist over to look at my shirt.

So young guy suit game works.

The younger guy suit game seems to have some problems in congruency. Most people assume your trying too hard and classify you a righteous prick.

You will always get asked why you are dressed up, in one form or another. Its like rolling out in a new Murcielago, you are so out of the norm that people are going to ask a question to validate why you own such an expensive car. "What do you for a living" they will most likely ask.

"Why are you are all dressed up" is a form of shit test. Game on as usual. I always asnwer with a cocky response, and then tell them I just got back from meeting with an attorney.

Then the "what do you do for a living" question normally comes up, and now your into a conversation where you got approached, you have the higher value, and she is already asking you personal questions...the number isn't that much harder to pull.

Sometimes I convince my friends to all suit up, we hit a dive bar and pretend were rich, and we come up with the stupidest things to tell people as to how we made our fortunes. what do you think about suit jackets and jeans/slacks

Now that I got money..Im gonna get a tailored suit back in the states(cheaper than doing it on the euro) in a couple weeks
But for the last months, Ive been mixing in a fitted suit jacket for a while.

I feel like it gives me a priority when I get around.
I personally think in my case..people would assume im a spoiled rich kid if i wore a tailored suit.
