Any good places to go out on Thursday night? That won't be too affected by this rain ...

RE: The lowdown on Ho Chi Minh/Vietnam - datasheet
It looks like I'll be spending some time in this city soon. Hope I can consult the hive mind before I head over.

This is my first time in Asia, but I'm an experienced traveller. Planning to spend two months between Vietnam and Cambodia, as Thailaind seems too full of tourists.

First off, what's the level of English penetration in Ho Chi Minh?

I specialise in daygame: are there good spots for doing this, or are language skills absolutely necessary? Not a fan of clubs.

Is it worth pipelining? What are the best current sites/apps for doing so?

Where is the best place to stay for a couple of weeks? Think I saw D3 earlier in this thread. Is AirBnB a good bet, or are there better options?

I'd be happy to meet up with you dudes once I head over. Very appreciative of any tips you could offer in advance.

RE: The lowdown on Ho Chi Minh/Vietnam - datasheet
1. English penetration is low. The younger generation would be better in English than the older but don't bang on it. There were girls I missed out on because they couldn't even understand "how much is this?" And they worked retail. They may be interested but not knowing any Vietnamese would hurt your chances

2. I'm a daygame specialist too but I found the city hard. Then again, I was only there for 6 days so I was really pushing it and nexting girls who didn't seem DTF. Nguyen Hue at night is good for daygame but in the day, I would say one gem I found was RMIT university. It's a modern international university and you could say you're considering doing a short course during your stay or something and came to visit the admissions office.

3. Pipelining is your best bet to get the bang right off the get go. Do it. I used tinder only but from the words of the Viet vets, Vietcupid works too.

4. I like to be right at the center of the action so I chose D1. If you want to project a "I'm staying here long term" then D3 is a good place to set up your pad. I belieber here are better sites in VN than Airbnb but would require a certain level of understanding of language and culture to maneuver.

My experiences are based off the fact that I'm Asian, blend in with the general populace, speak Vietnamese like a 3 year old kid learning words, young(I'm early 20s) and are around the same age as college going Vietnamese girls. Your experience may differ greatly but I hope this helps! I will be there next month, we can grab a beer with the rest of the Viet crew if schedules align.

Not good, but girls generally seem more than willing to speak and learn English with you. You can run the language game here, ie: "You can teach me Vietnamese. I can teach you English and/or French/Spanish etc".

Showing that you know one or two sentences of basic Vietnamese and that you are willing to learn Vietnamese (whether that's true or not) spikes the attraction level, even amongst English speakers.

Note that in Vietnamese, there is the honourific/polite form and familiar/informal forms. I usually lead them by using the informal forms, to imply that you are bf/gfs or interested and increase the comfort levels. When using Google Translate you should try to change the translations to the informal forms. So far, that has not led to any negative reactions.

Formal forms
You - bạn
I - tôi

Informal forms
You - Em (younger sister/brother), also used to address the woman in a relationship
I - Anh (older brother), also used to address the man in a relationship

Basic sentences like these are good enough, the rest just use Google Translate:
"Chào em" - Hi
"Em khỏe không?" - How are you?
"Anh khỏe" - I am fine
"Anh đang học tiếng việt" - I am learning Vietnamese
"Còn em?" - And you?/What about you?
"Em thích anh không?" - Do you like me?
"Chúng ta hãy gặp nhau để uống cà phê" - Let us meet for coffee.
"Anh biết nói tiếng Việt một ít" - I know how to speak a little Vietnamese
"Em biết nói tiếng Anh không?" - Do you know how to speak English?

The key is in the pronunciation and words used. Most books and online content are in Hanoi pronunciation (which is the national standard and found in news, tv shows, etc), which is different from the Ho Chi Minh pronunciation. Since you'd be coming to HCM it's better to be learning to speak the HCM way. Many native HCM people dislike people from Hanoi, and vice versa.

Check out https://www.youtube.com/user/AnnieVietnamese from Annie, who teaches Vietnamese in HCM style.

Quote:Is it worth pipelining? What are the best current sites/apps for doing so?

I have tried both Tinder and VietnamCupid and so far, VC is giving me higher quality girls. However, downside is that on VC, English ability is lower. But you can always screen for those who can communicate English on a basic level.

Quote:I specialise in daygame: are there good spots for doing this, or are language skills absolutely necessary? Not a fan of clubs.

I daygame a little bit, but it's difficult without knowing Vietnamese. I did manage to talk a mixed group who had basic conversational English and got one cute service staff's number while playing the "lost tourist" game. eg: "Can you tell me how to get to XYZ?"

It's better to just daygame when you are out and about walking to lunch/coffee dates and not do it exclusively, pipeline all the way.

Quote:Where is the best place to stay for a couple of weeks? Think I saw D3 earlier in this thread. Is AirBnB a good bet, or are there better options?

I used to stay in D1 hotels, but now I am staying in Binh Thanh which is right besides D1. There's a couple of nice apartments like Saigon Pearl, Vinhomes (which are newer and more upper-class) and The Manor (which is slightly older). AirBnB was where I got both my apartments.

It might be better to stay in apartments compared to hotels since there is is less negative connotations, no need to check the ID, which may lead to resistance to pull, and there's more reasons to bring a gal back (eg: swimming pool, cooking dinner, TV).

^ One other thing to add is that girls from VC tend to be more serious about relationships and most won't sleep with you on the first date. This is true even for tinder so you'll have to do a lot of screening for higher english levels and SNLs. It's a good place for finding LTRs but if you're into clubbing and SNLs, you're better off in Bangkok or Manila.

RE: The lowdown on Ho Chi Minh/Vietnam - datasheet
It's been a little over 2 weeks since my HCMC trip, and I am finally posting some of my thoughts.
I won't go too much into things that have already been covered here by others since I'm relatively new to RVF and it was my 1st trip there.

My stats: English speaking Korean, early 30s
Game level: Low
Main game: Tinder
Dates: late Sept. to mid Oct. 2017

Logistics:
I booked an airbnb at Icon56, a midrange condo with rooftop pool, vinmart (convenience store on 1st floor), and 24/7 security. Mine was a 1BR with good fast wifi, cable TV, 2 AC units, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, among other useful appliances. Price was about $50 a night, no deposit required. Icon56 is pretty well known to most cabbies and ubers, and is just a 5-10min uber to most nightlife areas in D1. If you get a place here, ask the host what floor the place is on. I stayed in a lower floor, and was woken up by a school's loud announcements and music almost every morning (try to get a higher floor).

Some people here have posted about guards being strict about letting in girls in apartments/hotels. At Icon56, only once in the evening was I stopped by the front desk to "register" my female companion. They said if she stays the night, my room would be charged $10 a night, so you can just bang her and have her leave before it gets too late. I think it's all about luck in these serviced apartments. If they see you and feel like bothering you to register your guest, they will. But in my 2 weeks there, I was only stopped once.

Prices:
I found HCMC cheaper than Thailand and the Philippines. The food seemed healthy and tasty and the most I paid for a drink was 140,000 dong ($7). In Korea, only dive bars have drinks that cheap, so I was quite happy.

Transportation:
Use uber if you don't mind waiting a few min. for the driver to arrive. Otherwise stick to vinasun and mailinh taxis (the legit ones with proper meters). When it wasn't raining, I enjoyed taking uber motos (scooter). May not be everyone's cup of tea if you don't like breathing in pollution but it is faster than cars and an experience.

Phone:
I got a mobifone sim with supposedly LTE data and voice; however, very few spots in HCMC seemed to have LTE. Most of the time I was on 3G, and it was a big drain on my battery. I don't think you really need to get a plan with voice as you can call girls using data on viber/whatsapp/etc. A ton of places offer free wifi if you order a drink/coffee, so I didn't really think you need a ton of data here if you're here for a short time.

Pipelining/Setting up dates:
Just tinder with a few daygame sprinkled in. I set my location to HCMC a week or so in advance and started pipelining. Funny thing is, the daygame was a fluke. The girls would open me by asking if I was Korean and giggling. All I had to do was chat with them a bit and get their number and meet them for dinner/drinks/coffee after they finished their shift. I think it helped that I had a friendly smile on my face and was a lone male foreigner.
My main source of girls was tinder though. I noticed there are way more girls here than in Davao (as expected) and you won't really run out of chicks to swipe. So you can be picky and weed out the bitches and P4P ones.

Places to see:
- Mekong delta tours: I had fun on this full day trip with a mixed group. I got the fb of an older portuguese girl but she flaked after (said she was too tired after the trip).
- Strolling the area around Bui Vien in the evening: lots of places to people watch with a cold cheap beer in hand and many drunk backpackers if that's your thing (most were whales or couples though).

Viet Girls:
I found Vietnamese girls quite refreshing compared to Thai and pinays. I wasn't asked to buy shit by most girls, unlike what I'm used to in SEA. Girls were genuinely very happy and thankful when you buy them a meal/drinks. Pinays started wearing me out asking for taxi money and little gifts they saw in shops. Vietnamese girls often make at least an attempt to split the dinner bill and if she considers you her "special man" she will be paying her share of cabs and drinks. I even lost my prada wallet in an uber once, and the girl I was meeting helped me call the driver and drove me on her scooter to the rendezvous with the driver. And then she gave the guy some money out of her own pocket even as I was preparing to hand over some myself. This actually blew my mind and made me want to keep seeing her, which I did.
Their English level is not as high as pinays, but simple conversations were possible. They seem to be better educated than Thai and Pinay girls, have more varied interests, and are just more fun to be around. I think if you learned some basic to intermediate Vietnamese, Viet girls would be much better LTR material than both Thai and Pinays. This is coming from a guy who's lived in the Philippines for 10 years (albeit only 3 short trips to Thailand).
SNL is possible if your logistics and game are tight. However, I only got 1 SNL (via tinder). She was a 22 year old with a Kakao account, hinting that she chased Koreans.
Most of my lays came after 2-3 dates (4 girls in total, but one was just a BJ as she claimed to be a virgin...and I didn't want to deflower her). I think the key is to show you are a gentleman, flirt with her, kino, and then bring her back to your pad for the home run. However, my main method was bf game instead of just pure seduction because I wasn't hunting in clubs/bars. Many of the girls are employed at a real job, so they will often only have time to meet for dinner/drinks on weekdays. Many also work Saturdays (most the girls I met said they work a halfday on Saturdays), so keep that in mind when setting up your meetups.
I went to Vung Tau with a girl I met off tinder. I found the beach a bit lacking when compared to Thailand and Philippines, but it was nice to get away from the hectic city of HCMC for a few days. Most girls recommended Phu Quoc, which requires a short flight. I will have to check it out next time I visit.
I ended up keeping in touch with just 1 girl (the one who helped me retrieve my wallet). She is just too sweet and easygoing!

Other girls:
As I mentioned above, there are many female backpackers and tourists, but most will not be bangable.
There were 2 exceptions: Japanese and Korean tourists.
These I found in abundance in the malls (Vincom Mall and Saigon Centre), but I didn't have a chance to try opening as I was with a girl every time. But in my experience picking up Korean girls in Khao San, I just had to ask them if they were Korean (in Korean) and most receptions were warm. My suggestion for Korean girls is to just open with "Hi, are you Korean?" in Korean (Hangook saram ee aye yo?) and then switch to English after you exhaust your Korean.
For me, since I'm Korean and speak fluent Korean, I could game them in their most comfortable language and also easily show off my English when ordering drinks/food, which tends to impress them (they always comment that I sound American, which I can use to boost my DHV by sharing stories of living/studying/working abroad).

Nightlife:
- I didn't do much clubbing this trip so I won't say much, other than try to find what the happy hours are at the places you want to go. Not really for your budget (it's still pretty cheap) but more so you can maximize with more sets to open.

Summary:
If you can, I would suggest staying for at least 3 weeks or more. Things are a bit slow paced with girls here and it will take you a few dates to get most girls to put out. I often didn't have enough time to slot in girls and keeping up with dozens of girls on tinder/viber/whatsapp started becoming tedious. I prefer to stick with 2-3 ones I like being with, and meeting just 1 girl a day. Vietnamese girls are probably my favorite Asian girls now. I will be trying to return in the winter because I miss it so!

Also, I've been looking at moving there permanently since my trip. I really loved it that much. Luckily for me, there are a bunch of Korean companies there that need Koreans who can speak English, so I have started jobhunting! Like Zerdame, I have begun using Duolingo to learn Vietnamese as I think it's really appreciated by most Viet girls (and also to raise my value to foreign companies in Vietnam).

I hope to meet some of the RVF expats there in the future. I'm sure I barely touched on what actual life is like there in my 2 weeks. But I really loved what I saw and think it will be my next permanent destination. Many thanks to all the posters before me who gave great tips!

Boyfriend game is definitely the game to go. Enjoyed reading your experience, found it extremely similar to mine. With the exception of the Japanese and Korean tourists, there were almost none when I visited the two malls mentioned. At what time of the day and which day did you visit? I've taken a liking for HCMC and vietnamese girls, they are definitely better LTR material than most girls in SEA.

@CleanSlate: I will definitely PM you next time I come or when I book my flight!

@Zerdame: I would usually be the in the malls during the evenings, but don't quite remember the days. FYI, the Korean midautumn festival (Chuseok) was during my dates, so I think that might have caused a spike in Korean numbers! I heard from Koreans that their usual destination is Da Nang, not HCMC. But I saw a fair amount around the tourist spots in HCMC too.
I think it's because we're both Asian and relatively young! Smile

I never wanted an LTR with any of the Thai girls I met. It was all pump and dump. For pinays, since I lived there a long time, often they were the only option because back then I wanted to avoid dating girls in my social circle.

Anyone run a dropshipping business out of HCMC or VN in general?

How're the shipping rates to Western countries? How's service at the post offices or shipping companies? They reliable?

Man, it seems like there's a lot of action going on in Vietnam for those of us more into the LTR/possible marriage girls, even for those of us who have already spent a considerable amount of time in the Philippines.

Vietnam is now officially a candidate for me to move to once I wrap up my latest stint in America, this is fascinating.

Especially The Park in Vinhomes.

By the way, JoseLaBelette doesn't understand why all the chumps need 2 dates to get the bang here. Most of his bangs took him less than 1h to get

Lolwtf

Is this how yet-another-English teacher Mr. JoseLaBelette disciplines his 7 year old students? "Stop this behavior!" If you had any real game, you would know that saying "stop this behavior" to kids or even adult women won't do jack shit.

Had you taken the time to absorb this forum culture, you would know that newbies get a good ribbing around here before they earn respect by contributing to this forum with datasheets and valuable information. Don't take it so seriously. We were toying with you, but you took it personally. And please don't tell me that your two-liner about "chain-banging" at the Vinhomes using tinder constitutes a "valuable datasheet", especially one written in third-person.

Nope, this is not Zyz. You should consult a specialist and talk about it, Irish. This guy is haunting you.

CleanSlate : Small correction, JoseLaBelette used Vietnamcupid mostly. Here's a great datasheet since you beg for it. Be white and handsome (like me), invite the girls near your place, pick them up, walk towards your condo, break their LMR. Enough for you, or you need data about how to monkey around in town and talk to random girls for pet-shops?

Oh nooooooo, fuck Im already all set to return to HCM next weekend with my flight and airbnb all booked. The lays on my previous trips must have mistaken me for a white guy given my pale East Asian skin, those skanks. Now I have to cancel it all or just fly there and pout while CleanSlate and his white tall ass gets all the girls. Im an Angry Asian now. Fuck you Jose, you're just as bad as CleanSlate, all you dirty white men who can't get girls back home and come to Asia to steal MY women. You need to get your white ass deported.

JoseLaBelette seems to be the only one doing zero date bangs in Vietnam.

But of course, if an ART wishes to join the conversation to prove the contrary, he's more than welcome.

Zerdame, did you apply the coffee / expensive dinner model to get your bangs, like the rest of the gammas - or did you apply JoseLaBelette's great datasheet?

General question about Viet women (discounting all fatties from this discussion). I've never been to Vietnam, but I'm guessing that it's a land of A cups and B cups (but on a tiny frame the B cups can look quite nice). I'm a big tits man and was wondering if seeing C cups (and a guy can dream... D cups) is a rare occasion.

Thx in advance.

To find a C or D on an East Asian girl is traditionally difficult, it’s out there but comparatively to a western or African body structure, they are less common. That being said, i find Vietnamese girls to have the best figures among most Asian girls. My LTR is a C and I simply marvel at the fact that with such a slim figure, she manages to maintain all the weight above lol

Thx for the reply Zerdame. Any feedback from others who live or have lived in Vietnam?
