RE: okcupid: the competition
Fenix, I think you're misrepresenting what soup wrote about whether the game might be less or more effective if there were not so many hopeless betas around. This has nothing to do with the argument that players have somehow "corrupted" women.
First of all, it is women who choose whom to sleep with. As soon as they got complete freedom in this regard, it turned out that this were the alphas and cads, for whom pump 'n' dump is default behaviour. While a tiny number may have always been players, the majority of the players were created by women, not the opposite. A typical woman always has a choice between an alpha and several nice guys pursuing her. On the other hand, it is a very, very small minority of men who have the choice of more than one woman interested in them at a time.
Places like Medellin (and Poland/Ukraine after the Euro Championship) are not ruined by players, they're ruined by both sausage fests (something that Roosh wrote about) due to many desperate men coming over, and the female hypergamy being fully liberated there (by state & economic development). You will note that part of the appeal of Medellin and other popular places is that players don't have to be too alpha there, they can just *gasp* be themselves because women there appreciate it when a guy is confident but not a jerk. By contrast, in the USA, that kind of behaviour would leave you massacred and cheated on every time. It is because the girls there like - no, they ADORE - players, alphas and those who pump 'n' dump them.
Anyways, I feel like this post contains a lot of unhealthy apologism. I refuse to be held responsible for the fact that Western women have grown mad (i.e. regressed to their primal sexuality due to lack of consequences) and now get wet only for players.

RE: okcupid: the competition
i did an experiment like this a while back except on POFatties.. I took 4 or 5 pics and the exact profile text of a 28 year old blonde girl (between a 7 or 8 looks) in another major city far away from mine. I posted it on a Sunday morning around noon. By the next day around noon (exactly 24 hours and before i deleted the fake profile), it had 127 emails to it.. The responses were pretty much exactly like the original posters article..
Let me just say this though, the so called "competition" sucks.. I had never seen other dudes profiles before this , but yes most have shitty idiotic pics (shirtless bathroom mirror, grainy web cam pics, holding a dead deer on a hunting trip, ect.).
We all know that women online (or just in general) are completely unrealistic in what they think deserve in a man, but some of these dudes were too.. Why the hell a 40 year old 5'4 chubby dorky asian guy would think he has any kind of chance with a cute 28 year old blonde is beyond me.
Ever seen that show "To catch a Predator" where dozens and dozens of dudes show up to meet what they think is a 13 year old girl? Those guys are almost always social outcasts/social rejects.. Well imagine being a cute female and logging in to find dozens of shitty messages from guys just like that.
So if you've ever wondered why online dating can be so fucking tough, that's why. I rarely even bother to send emails anymore. I just let them email me first. I have a completely sarcastic and hilarious alpha-type profile, with about 4 good pics on it (pic of me in the endzone of an NFL game, pic of me golfing, pic of me pulling a 4-wheeler out of my garage which highlights my house, truck, and friends Mercedes benz). I get a lot of responses and get laid quite regularly. I couldn't imagine as a guy an average boring beta type profile ("im a laid back guy, blah blah") and having average crappy pics. In all honesty, the 90+ % of dudes who do have those profiles actually probably do make my job easier.
