I hate threads about fighting, and which "style" is the best. But for the record, I prefer boxing over MT for lots of reasons. I think the Dutch muay Thai fighters have it right. Boxing with knees and low kicks. Traditional MT has wayyyy too much emphasis on kicks, because punches do not score points in their competitions.

You know the most hilarious thing about that video? The fat loud ghetto bitch, listening to her babbling feels like playing Grand Theft Auto.

Not that I train or anything so take what I say with a grain of salt, but from the matches I've seen Dutch MT fighters have more dynamic footwork, but aren't as good with the clinch and elbows. A lot of the time they get thrown around when clinching with a traditional guy.

I think low kicks are harder to land clean without good setup in the top levels, and they also score less in judges' eyes than body kicks, which along with knees are the bread and butter of a traditional guy's arsenal. Also in Thai scoring aggression alone is not rewarded as much.

In the video, the blue guy's style is mainly punches in bunches and low kicks, yet he can't maintain effective offense and break the red guy with the more traditional style's defense, who countered him throughout.

That's because the guy in blue has terrible hands. That is a Thai boxer trying to be a Western boxer, and doing a bad job at it.

Below is what I am referring to when I say "Dutch style". Much more aggressive, and also a lot more boxing being utilized.

Thais definitely are much better in the clinch. Probably because K-1 rules don't allow for much clinching.

The end starts at about 0:45.

I really felt bad for Gamache in this fight. Easily one of the most vicious KO's I've seen.

K1 fighters definitely have better hands than MT fighters because of less clinching and no elbows allowed. The rules make fighters that are good in one not necessarily good in the other though. Buakaw, a so-so level fighter in MT who never came close to winning the main stadium titles, won K1 Max twice, whereas some higher level Thai MT fighters didn't do as well.

Ramon Dekkers who has great boxing vs the Thais he fought are as Dutch MT vs Traditional MT as it gets, and he lost some and won some. Some of the Thais were knocked out, others were able to completely shut down his boxing. Although he's definitely one of the greats, Dekkers never managed to win a stadium title.

As an aside Samart Payakaroon who had a WBC boxing title along with his Lumpinee championships, was never able to defeat Dieselnoi despite his way superior hands. Dieselnoi who had crappy boxing just either maintained distance or clinched up and kneed him. Both were the best of the best though.

^ Holy fucking shit that is one of the most hilarious fight videos I've seen. Was this at a McDonalds? Why does this shit always happen at McDonalds? Fucking dumb people.

Funny how is pretty obvious the security in these places is incompetent and useless at best.

I watched the top one and 3 seconds into the interview with the bald guy I just thought "oh man, this is going to be bad" That guy had "that look" of being completely willing to bite the other guy's face off.

he threw like one token punch and the rest was, just plain scary. That guy has no issues turning on the kill switch in his head.

Agree. Whoever says boxing is the best striking art hasn't been on the wrong side of a good Muay Thai fighter.

I disagree, throwing a kick leaves you a hell of a lot more vulnerable if it misses. Which, in a street situation, it probably would. Unless you're EXTREMELY proficient in Thai Boxing, or another offensive-based martial art involving kicks, I wouldn't use them.

@Teedub

Round-kicks and head-kicks in a street fight is not very useful that is true, but mixing low kicks with punches are very effective and you can maintain a safe distance still. To use muay thai effective you can`t be throwing single kicks anyway. You always set up with punches.

This vid is a pretty decent example of a thugged out guy whose maybe been in some street fights but has no real training, versus a guy who has trained a bit of MMA.

I stumbled across this today. The atmosphere is fantastic.

Fight starts at about 8 minutes. Everything before that is straight out of SNATCH.

I thought this would be a joke given the intros but those guys punch fast and keep their guards together for at least 10 minutes despite turning their faces into hamburger.

RE: Fight Videos
Started flipping through some fight videos on Youtube.

I have a question, these fights break down into wild swinging and volume. I will admit some of these I am pretty impressed by how fast the hands are flying. Trained or not it does seem to break down into out of control mess.

For those of you who have fought and you are trained, did it ever go textbook? Or just became a mess? Just curious thanks.

Background: jit jitsu as a teenager, some tournament fights, a handful of streetfights. There are more competent fighters than I am on this forum.

In a ring, which is a flat surface, with borders, with one trained opponent I found that it went 'textbook' I knew right away if I was up against someone faster and tougher than I was and could almost see the end coming after the first 2-3 flurries. Vice versa, if I ended up with a weaker opponent I could toy with them.

Streetfights have too many variables to be predictable. Multiple opponents, or people entering after the fight has started, uneven ground, obstacles, screaming bitches...and most of all, intoxication.

The few streetfights I have been in, I was sober and the other guy was drunk. The intoxication made the person so off balance that it was like playing with a child once I had committed to the fight. I think I've had zero drunk streetfights because I know that I can't defend myself well in that state so I get out of there at the first sign of trouble.

Thats where I think alot of this mellee of grabs and spinning haymakers comes from, intoxicated people with low balance trying to fight. The counter point is the shirtless black dude in the first fight of the video. He is upright, punching straight and aware enough to keep his back up against the car.

RE: Fight Videos
A lot of people especially in the hood are such savages these days the best course of action is to steer clear of any altercations, even if someone is being disrespectful and you have to swallow your pride. I've watched a fair amount of the world star hip-hop fight compilations and very rarely do you see a fair clean one-on-one fight, usually it devolves into a situation where a group of guys end up all jumping one dude, and sometimes it's straight up disgusting with the whole group stomping a kicking a guy in the face/head, often times once he's already been knocked unconscious.

To me that is some of the most fucked up pussy ass shit you can do, an unfair fight where it's 4 on 1, and then cheering, bragging, and boasting, after stomping an unconscious man's head in, there really isn't too much hope for humanity left. Even if you're a beast at martial arts and can take on multiple attackers, it's just not worth the risk. If your on the ground and 3 or 4 guys are kicking your head in with Timberland boots it's not a stretch to say a guy could get major brain damage if not be outright killed. A lot of the people out there are just plain savages.

RE: Fight Videos
^^ I agree the best thing to do is to avoid a fight. And I tend not to wander into rough areas. Nor am I ever drunk, I can think of maybe 5 occasions. I am a social drinker but I rarely go so far as to not be in control of myself. For me it is important to be aware mainly to help watch out for my friends who enjoy drinking more than I do.

I also have learned through the forum - never get involved in any fights that do not personally involve you or people you personally know and can for. Other than that just let it happen. I would never have said that 2 years ago, but I now know, no good deed goes unpunished in this world.

DH, that was what was so confusing so many shots, but no real damage. I guess it was the inaccuracy and maybe the lack of true power (just meaning it isn't a text book perfect punch with the twist and proper bracing). But the brain keeps telling man, he should be down already!

Thanks to you guys for your thoughts.

An imbecile in a Freddy Krueger sweater approaches a security guy/bouncer and waves a baseball bat at him for unknown reasons. The bouncer stands, fakes a left, followed by a right that takes the motherfucker down & out.

It's positively endearing how, after knocking the shit out of the tard with the bat, the bruiser bouncer transforms into one of the gentlest, most caring people you'll ever see.
