Really Starting to Frustrate Me How Selfish Women Are About Distracting You
I make all my money on the Internet and spend a lot of time traveling or living in different locations, often in the homes of friends and family. It never ceases to amaze me how rude people can be about not leaving you alone when you're quite obviously working.

You can completely ignore them to make it obvious you want some privacy. You can move to a more private location. You can stop a video you're watching every time they interrupt you, listen impatiently, and then turn it on again (you'll end up doing that repeatedly) or hold up a finger to ask them to wait until you get done typing or reading something. You can remind them that your working - a lot of the time you'll find they even make a statement about how they're sorry and know you're working (but their own acknowledgement still doesn't stop them).

No matter what you say or how many hints you drop, they keep on blabbing, narrating their day and telling you every retarded, trivial thought that comes across their mind.

It frustrates me to no end, and while I call them out sometimes, I can only do so much if I'm staying in their house. Usually, I go work at a coffee shop, but that's not always convenient.

Anyhow, today I suddenly had a realization. Out of every person whose ever done this to me, it's always been the women in my life - sisters, mom, friends, girlfriends, etc. My brothers and friends never do it - men seem to have the sense to give you your peace when you need it, even when you're in their homes. I think there was one guy in a coffee shop that kept interrupting me once, but he was mentally disabled...

What is it with women that they are so selfish and greedy with your time and attention? Some of these women are really intelligent and respectful people who behave otherwise pretty rationally, but I guess they just feel life is all about them.

Alright, end of rant and back to work now that she finally shut up and left the room. Big Grin

Women have no concept of this being a problem. They are networking communicators, not introverts. They don't do male boundaries.

Just tell her, "This is man time. Shoo."

Be it conscious or unconscious, women generally believe that their thoughts, feelings, needs and wants are paramount, and that the world must stop and acknowledge when they have something to say. You just had your "lightbulb" moment with regards to this. Men generally have a better sense of when a person needs space, but women almost always feel something needs to be said. I won't say that they all do it out of conscious selfishness - for some it's that nurturing thing, or that thing in some of them that drives them to please. Either way, it's annoying because even when given clear signs that the attention isn't wanted, they push on.

lol Yeah, I'm not going to say that to someone while I'm a guest in their house. Especially not my mother...

Now, someone I was sleeping with, I'd have no problem sitting them down and explaining how the real world works as I'd have some chips in the game, and I did break it down when dealing with gf's in the past. But that's not the scenario at the moment.

As frustrating as it is, the best I can do this time around is lock myself in a room or get out of the house.
