Roosh, you could have been a millionaire
I was browsing the Amazon Store on my Kindle and accidentally clicked on the Top 100 best-selling books: care to guess what the Top 3 are?
The 3 volumes of 50 Shades of Grey. Millions and millions sold.

Guess the market of men who want to get laid is much smaller than that of women who want to fantasize about getting fucked roughly.

RE: Roosh, you could have been a millionaire
I think Roissy (Chateau Heartiste) could have been a millionaire.

For one, Roissy has been much more focused on understanding the psychology of women. Seriously, read his archives; he goes more in-depth to the female psyche than anyone. His writing style is much fancier than Roosh's (whose style is utilitarian and clear exposition of game concepts to an exclusively male audience). That literary flourish is necessary to sell crappy chick lit to women (seriously, it's so overdone you'll have trouble reading).

Hell, Roissy's nom de plume is a character in Story of O, the better version of the same story that Fifty Shades of Grey cribbed (written in 1954, also by a female writer).

Only problem is that for publishers to get behind this kind of book, it seems necessary for the author to be a woman. Maybe Roissy could use a female pseudonym. I also think it would be tough for a good writer to stomach writing certain parts of the story that are necessary to sell to a modern female audience.

What's stopping any one of us from becoming the next great American hamster feeder? Just write your field reports in the point of view of the woman, sprinkle in some non-judgmental support from some cliche gay friend or beta provider, and BANG! Bestseller.

Women by books. Roosh hits a niche market that will only continue to grow(a blessing and a curse you could say). Books that sell great for Male audiences tend to be bio's and such. Men like to read about other great men and their lives.

Plus yes the publishing aspect and the realty is that publishing houses are packed with women whom don't know how to push books that men want to read. A make could do both but females struggle at it.

I think he could still kill it if he writes something like 30 Bangs in a more elaborate format and manages to find a decent publisher.

Traditional publishing is dead, especially for men (more specifically, those perceived as misogynists) who write about sex. Tucker Max was the last of his kind, and even he got screwed over.

RE: Roosh, you could have been a millionaire
I've written two books, both on business related topics, and though you can make a little money, the main purpose of the books is to build credibility and as a signal about your "expertise" which you can then turn around and sell. The same goes with teaching at a university, which I do from time to time. There is no money as an adjunct professor, but it's part of networking, and another kinda "gold star" on your resume.

I know a woman who is a "romance novelist" and she churns it out for one of the bigger publishers. Hey, it's a living. But it's pretty soulless work. I actually have an idea for a book about on-line dating (a novel, actually, that could be pretty raunchy and also quasi high-brow) but the reality is that getting rich writing books is as likely as you or me fucking Charlize Theron and Sofia Vegara on back to back nights.

Best sellerdom is pure luck.

Gmac is right --traditional publishing is dying, if not dead already. Lots of people are doing e-books now, and Amazon will one day be the biggest publisher in the history of mankind.

How about I soften up my existing titles to repackage to a female audience.

Instead of Bang Poland, it will be Caress Poland.

Steps to writing a hamster feeding book for women:

1. Boring average protagonist female
2. Boring world and environment
3. Suddenly, alpha male (or males) thrust into her world
4. lots of unrealistic up and down drama
5. sexual tension everywhere
6. woman goes through unrealistic personal changes and eventually fulfillment
7. ????????
8. profit

You could crank out a couple of these schlock's a years. The more unrealistic and idiotic they are, the better. Lots of graphic and emotional writing everywhere.

I never understood why Roissy hasn't monetized his website. Especially with all the content he (they) produce.

Even just run some google adwords for crissakes!

Could this me a legit how-to guide for men instructing on proper rough sex techniques could be big? Seems like if there was a market for the minds here, that'd be it.

I remember a long time back David DeAngelo said he read some women's novels just to get a grasp on how the fantasy mind of a woman works. He found it so eye-opening that he recommended that all guys read a couple of them. Of course you'd have to hide them in a brown paper bag in public.

Absolutely true. I've read parts of My Secret Garden with unbelievable fantasy letters. Memorizing a few good ones can be keys to seduction.

I'm more intrigued how to pull off writing these stories as a male to attract women or would it be better to pretend to be a woman writer and test the idea?

So calling it "psychology of women" is a huuuuuge overstatement.

The market of men who want to get laid (while doing nothing) is huge. But the number of books covering this market is also huge. To stand out there you'd need to pop up some serious advertising money - which is what the most bestsellers do. This is how all the things work in America now - all that matters is advertising, the population is so brainwashed that they'll buy any kind of crap as long as their favorite talk show host recommended it. The book content itself may be a complete crap. This is why the overall quality degrades so bad, and will only be worse.

I agree with this assumption. Although he's perceived to be the founding father of modern dating advice by many, it appears that most of his experience and technique has come from dealing with the same type of woman for years, even though many frequenters of this forum will know that there's a whole spectrum of women - not just the validation-seeking, bar-hopping type.

Of course that doesn't mean that his advice about reading female novels is incorrect, but it's not something that I'd personally try. I just wanted to slightly derail the thread to agree how much of DeAngelo's advice appears to be ill-suited to modern Game.

Roissy is difficult to read. The guy has a vocabulary so vast that its often difficult to understand the personality behind it. He can be selective in his thinking sometimes, but there is no doubt he is doing a ton of good. His social commentary is brutal in its honesty and accuracy at times, and while many people visit for pick up, I always think his best stuff is when he just unleashes.

The sad thing is a guy like Roissy has to hide behind a pseudonym. So much for free speech I guess.
