If you don't know what you want to study then you should not waste your time going to school.

I have a degree in Exercise Science. I changed my major about 10 times before deciding. I should have dropped out of college, it was a complete waste of time and money (but lots of fun, so not really a waste). What I do now has absolutely nothing to do with my degree. I would have been better off using that time and money for more useful things.

I'm firmly against higher education, unless you have a VERY specific reason for going to school (i.e. going to Law school because you're PASSIONATE about law). Time is better spent learning useful skills that will actually get you somewhere in life.

I regret wasting 4 years in college. If I had started learning what I'm doing now back when I started school, instead of going to school, I'd be way richer right now.

Also, I find it fascinating just how many of you study numerical subjects, or ones that require a scientific brain. I guess you have more of a natural affinity with Roosh's scientist-style game than some of the more linguistic-brained of us. I did a History degree btw.

I've also studied a lot of math, molecular biology, finance, economics and history on my own or in the classroom.

I'm a management consultant. Science doesn't pay the bills like it used to.

It's an utter waste of time and I feel scammed. I think my interests wouldve been covered better in macro-economics or history.

All the skills I make money with I taught myself or learned in self-education.

So dont do it kids. Dont fall for the lie "academics are always in demand, just study what you like".

B.S. in Math and Mech. Eng., Ph.D. in Physics. Worked as an engineer for a few years before going back for the Ph.D. I got several high impact papers out of my grad work and ultimately my current job simply because I knew how to build experiments that worked the right way the first time. You'd be surprised at how many experimental physicists are horrible engineers. They all think they're great at it but it's a rare and valuable exception to be good at both. If you want an infinitely employable skill set get good at engineering and physics.

BS in Economics. I switched my major 3 times between sophomore and junior year. In hindsight Engineering with Economics or Medicine provide greatest ROI in terms of graduate school and career opportunities. You could also live abroad and study 3-5 languages at what college costs nowadays too.

Theoretical physics. Fun to see that there are many physics students.

I always thought it would be the nerdy stereotype all over, but as it turns out, about 1/2 is the nerdy type and 1/2 are of the guys are great company and really care to get the most out of life. Relatively few in between.

I studied civil engineering. Didn't even make it a full 2 years out of school before I went to work for myself.

Seeing how there is so many smart guys on this form we should use some of that talent and whip up a new trading algorithm. See how well we compete against the quants on the wall street.

1980-1986 - Certified Financial Planner, Series 7 securities broker, Professional Designation in Recording Arts & Science from UCLA Extension - worked as a financial planner/family biz
1986-present - built a career as a managerial accountant - have worked as a controller for a telecom company for the past twenty years, getting ready to retire and focus on my music and photography

My personal study program:
Music - ongoing study of recording/producing/programming music, jazz theory and improvisation (currently studying jazz improv with sax player Rick Rossi of "Jump, Jive & Wail" fame) as well as film score composing (UCLA)
Photography - ongoing study of technique - I shoot vert skateboarding/snowboarding, landscapes and concert photography. Have had success in both boardsports and concert photography, published in numerous intl. publications.
3D - ongoing study of Vue and Mojoworld software.
Foreign language - German in high school/college, taught myself Dutch in 2008-2009, currently studying Spanish

Economics and Political Science. Surprising how many guys here have Econ backgrounds; it probably is the most rigorous social science, so I guess it makes sense.

I switched out of engineering in my freshman year, when I noticed that I was looking at the lone girl in my classes (a 4 on a good day), and thinking, "Hey, she's pretty cute."

Currently in the military, and on my own I'm studying Japanese, and brushing up on my Econ, focusing on how the financial crisis happened and what to do about it.

I've been curious about bio-medical engineering, on the surface it seems like a interesting industry where you can make a ton of cash (obviously anything in medicine is money), but it seems like there wouldn't be a whole lot of job opportunities around - which your post seems to confirm.
