B.A. in History and English, M.A. in History, and now a J.D. (law)... looking to either teach law or practice with a large firm. I recommend history to anybody... especially economic history, it helps put our current economic situation in perspective

Also, the level of education showcased thus far in the above replies does not surprise me at all - given all that i have learned thus far on the forums and in the threads, this is clearly an extraordinary gathering of smart, educated men looking to better themselves with women and lifestyle wise.

@ru2486: I totally agree, this really is an incredible place. The level of education is probably part of the reason it hasn't caved in on itself yet and become as bad as other game focused forums.

Science. Since to many people it has a weird and nerdy association, a great tip is to think of a way to avoid that. How can you frame it into something that is interesting to people that don't know much about it?

I am currently thinking about a sales pitch. How to turn that awful 'What do you study?' into an opportunity to capture the girl's imagination.

In most serious majors (STEM, hard Business majors, Economics, etc.) you have people studying with a loose idea of some career or field they want to enter. You probably deal with this even more than other people, since you're in a STEM major, with people who are trying to become doctors/dentists/medical professionals.

Ask them what they would study if future career prospects, family pressure and similar factors didn't matter at all to them.

Just an idea.

I just finished my M.S. in physics, in addition to the B.S. degrees in physics and math I already possessed. It makes me happy to see other physics and math majors here.

Though I'm not surprised there are so many well-educated men here working on building a lifestyle that transcends the nerdy beta stereotypes typically associated with guys in the STEM fields. After all, with his microbiology degree, that's exactly the Roosh model.

Though, I'm curious what the breakdown here is between naturals who knew the STEM fields would be a lucrative career choice and former nerdy betas who went into the STEM fields just out of scientific curiosity. I'm definitely one of the latter.

I have both an intellectual interest and a financial interest. One is necessary to stay motivated and the other to stay well fed. You should always think about both factors since neither is sufficient.

Choose a field that fascinates you and once you get familiar with the different topics, choose one that is also going to stay relevant in the future. Nothing takes the fun out of pleasurable job like money problems.

I'm studying this too. A lot of the girls I meet are in psych or english so they are impressed when I say "genetics" I am also interested in the cutting edge of things so I describe a potential area of work and they light up with amazement. As long as you talk about it passionately in words they can understand you'll be fine.

I studied Computer Science and I'm a software engineer right now, transitioning from Web Dev to iOS apps (worked for startups but now I prefer BigCo) so if you have any questions about tech ask me anything.

Decent grades got me a Uni place reading history, deferred it for a year, did work experience at a TV station... Ended up staying. Never looked back.

Self employed for a good few years, location independent in the next 6 months or less.

I'm soooo glad I chose a slightly different path to the one I floated down as a teenager....


Study: I want fluent Russian really badly....Alas I'm currently studying getting wasted fairly frequently... I can't help it I'm English...

Surprisingly, another math and physics graduate. I'm out working right now but will probably go back to get a phd in statistics in the future. I am naturally the teaching type, but high school... I don't want none of that.

Edit: I started down the path because I took calculus based physics freshman year for science gen ed. credit and it was the only class i liked.

Fascinating....I graduated in 1997 in Civil Engineering. I am a professional engineer working on a billion dollar rail project.

Always got good grades until I hit Engineering school. The profs were into weeding people out; of course I had other interests as well. I wouldn't go back to school; I love rail projects and doing this kind of work. I hung in there in school to follow that path.

Now, I study history, wine making and other topics that interest me (game, for example). I need to teach my boys Game before they do something Beta.

Physics and german. German because it was easy, physics because it pays the bills.

@Hannibal: If you're interested/skilled in physics, maybe you could port that over to some more physics based type of engineering degree like aerospace or something. I also imagine that German would be a very useful language to have if you choose that pathway.
