Sometimes I would like to be able to walk into a Starbucks, approach the most attractive girl, and leave after the pickup attempt. So I've been searching for an opener that lets me approach naturally, involves a prop, and doesn't involve the time/money investment coffee shops usually require.

My first idea is something like,

"Excuse me, I think I left my [prop] somewhere at this table earlier this morning, do you seen anything looking like that around your chair?"

With a juicy enough (missing) prop and maybe some sort of backstory, seems like it might be possible to get a conversation going.

It's not natural if you have to plan ahead what you're going to say. Or the fact that you're going into a coffee shop only for the purpose of a number.

Natural would be IMO you doing your own thing, enjoying a coffee, reading your favorite book, and approaching without thinking about it, as in for example while going for a refill, you strike a convo with a girl, or while sitting down, you read something funny in the book or newspaper (horoscopes are a great!), turn your head and say something to the girl next to you, about maybe why your horoscope is so accurate about you that day.

Test it and tell us how it goes. We do need some instant coffee shop openings because otherwise you can easily spend an hour there without any approaches. Seems too inefficient to me.

your defining the difference between canned and situational openers. I get what you are saying, but don't discredit planning ahead.

I like the idea of this, you could definitely go elderly, but she might wonder why you aren't asking the workers if they found it.

BUT once you look around confused and ramble a bit about how awesome your thing was you could drop bait and say "I don't think I'll be able to find another one like it here in ____" or if its something more common, or a piece of clothing start rambling about where you usually buy that kind of thing or if she knows any newer versions (if its technology related).


Definitely let us know how it goes, hell I might try this my next time out.

I'm not trying to bring OP's idea down or anything, but personally speaking, just the fact that i know that i am going in there with the objective of pretending to have lost something to strike a convo, or maybe leave something invaluable there on purpose and then go back in to look for it, will not make me sound natural/sincere. You'll need a proper face/body language to pull this act together.

Also a huge emphasis on what WesternCancer mentioned with regard to high chance of the girl telling you to go ask employees there.

real talk you dont need all this mess just to get a convo going it's on some false pretenses to begin with youre going to look some some type of faggot who doesnt have the balls to be honest about some basic things.

just walk in with some confidence, see someone you like and fuck with them. if they dont want it then fuck it then but at least you tried. just talk with her normally as if she were an old friend

sounds easy but its not really however its much more satisfying than beating around the bush like you lost something. tell her shes fine. tell her you're bored and want someone to talk to for a minute. tell her your problems and see if she can relate and see if she'll share a cup of coffee with you. bet she will and if not then fuck it then on to the next : )
