The biggest cockblock in the world is being smart.

I've known this to some degree since I was a teenager, but I feel like it's really coming to an apex of some sort. Between Facebook, Pinterest, twitter, instagram, and the slew of bullshit that's on TV and in theaters, I don't know how long I can keep up.

I'm no genius. Shit I didn't even graduate college. But I always thought real world shit like astronomy, mechanics, anthropology, and history were a million times more interesting than most pop culture bullshit.

In my most recent interactions with girls I'm noticing more and more that my "smart moments" are causing more damage. When I'm with girls I typically dumb myself down to the level of a knucklehead 13-year old, never allowing myself to move in the conversation outside the realm of heavy sarcasm and idiot humor, but occasionally I'd let something out. Like if she brings up astrology I'd move to astronomy and carl sagan and shit. I can SEE it on her face the minute I slip, my attraction radar has gotten pretty well tuned and I KNOW the exact moment from when she's ready to blow me and all of a sudden there's a little withdrawal. Recovering isn't easy either, once you hit a conversational roadblock.

I recently had a girl on OKCupid ranting for a full 5 minutes over the fact that I don't own a TV, as if that's not even humanly possible.

I almost wish there was pill I could take that would slough off 100 IQ points, just for a few hours or so.

And educated girls are no better. They might have a law degree and make 6 figures, but their knowledge is limited to their profession.

This is both a rant and a warning: intelligence comes in handy for plotting and planning pussy conquest, but in conversation it is a KILLER unless you apply 100% of it to being witty and sarcastic. Don't slip up.

You've just got to deal with it. Human attraction is a process formed by millions of years of uncaring, unguided, purposeless evolution, and the traits that make the vagina tingle are not always the same ones that you'd consider admirable or valuable (case in point, death row inmates getting marriage proposals). Use your intelligence to learn game and help you make quick, accurate judgments when you're macking. Save the deep intellectual conversations for your friends; that's not what the girls you fuck are for.

Also, MMM is right. Booze definitely helps make talking about retarded shit more tolerable.

Ya I hear you. I ran sober game last night and had to bite my tongue to keep diving into "smart" convos. Its really fucking hard because I naturally like to go ham on these nerdy broads and usually they drop some nerdy shit and I deflect it but I took the bait too much last night and went home with blue balls.

To me "stupid" shit or pop culture shit is just a big waste of time I get annoyed having to keep up with that shit. But it does suck tho I don't really watch moves, don't watch TV, etc so its hard to keep these simple broads interested. They don't like when your a comedian either you just gotta just talk mad shit and be as dense as possible.

Gringo nailed it tho if you divert your resources into other stuff more-so into learning how to smash more lizards then you should be able to find balance.

Is there even one culture or spot on earth where the females dig smart dudes? I am really trying to think of a spot and can't.

The only thing I can think of is chicks who work in a field that requires specialized knowledge like law or medicine, or who are activists and know a lot about whatever their cause is. Even then, these girls' intellectual curiosity doesn't usually extend beyond their particular field, but if you can engage them effectively on their pet topic it can make them feel like you "get them" and you "really connect."

For example, I've had an interest in philosophy for many years. Normally I won't bring it up when I'm trying to bang a chick, but if I'm talking to a girl who's really into animal rights I'll definitely take it as a green light to talk about Peter Singer (author of Animal Liberation) and what have you (within reason--you can't lose the all-important cocky/teasing vibe in the process).

Being knowledgeable about something can be perceived as a positive quality, but only if it's something the girl is already interested in. It's a classic example of female solipsism.

I know I know, just venting...

a couple months ago I met this hottie that goes to USC Thornton school of music. Saw her at a bar, and I opened her by teasing her about her drink and how girlie it looked. Great response, she starts flirting right back. We have a great rapport going for like 15 minutes and then I find out she's an opera singer. I asked her ONE question that killed me for the night:

"Who's your favorite composer?"

She literally shrugged and then turned her back on me for the rest of the night.

I'm not looking to discuss philosophy or delve into the finer points of applied calculus, but christ this shit is getting ridiculous.

I run into this shit all the time, basically to the point I can't stand talking to 98% of women unless I have some booze in me.

This is a reason why I rarely do dates or get into any sort of relationship. Once I get a piece I lose all interest in them and their idea of "conversation".

I'd rather read a book.

If you think being too logical is hurting your success with women, I recommend studying comedians and viewing the world from their perspective. When it comes to getting panties wet, I think humor is a better tool then intelligence.

I've always thought it devolves to Caveman Game anyway -- if a guy is smart, a gal probably has a history of guys who overthink everything, including sex.

A friend of mine in the south is a musician on the weekends, but a VERY well educated guy during the week. When he plays "dumb guitar player" game, he gets plenty of pussy, but when he talks smart, it dries up.

A dumb guy will just go with his own needs and there's nothing to blame for it. A guy who overthinks things isn't attractive.

Some of the dumbest guys I know get laid the most, likewise most of the smart guys I'm friends with never do. And that's not even do to an Alpha/Beta thing either. I also noticed that it seems harder to pull for ambitious or motivated guys (or at least it seems that way). I'd imagine that women are somehow threatened by that.

I feel like I've run into something similar dozens of times. I remember in college, I'd run into girls sometimes with interesting majors, and I'd ask them about it, and not just superficial dumb questions either. And they'd STILL be bored out of their mind. I quickly learned not to even ask a girl's major. The only reliable topic of interest to me and cute girls is style, and even then, girls only have a superficial knowledge of it.

Hell, I went to a good college, and was hoping that I'd meet intellectual people. I didn't really, and game became my 'intellectual' outlet instead. People accuse me of being obsessed with women, but if I talk about anything remotely intellectual, with both men and women of my generation, people get bored quick.

Another thing I've noticed a lot - if you tell girls something that indicates you're smart in math and science, eg that you studied engineering, they will IMMEDIATELY think less of you. "Good at math? All the guys I've known that were good at math were losers. He must be a huge loser underneath it all." Indian and Asian girls are less likely to punish you for that, but I'm not so into them.

Still, I think you're conflating two different things, philistinism and solipsism. When I'm macking girls, I'm teasing her, whatever. But any time I shift the conversation to something that's not about her, she starts losing interest. That's what I mean by solipsism. Sure, intellectual topics are even worse in that regard, but that self-absorption is a big part of it; intellectual topics, by definition, are not about oneself. They're both factors.

I'm plenty smart and have never had trouble talking to anybody. I learned when I was young that when people say some bullshit like "You're so smart" it was a dismissive gesture designed to protect the egos of people around me (/hamster wheel - he didn't learn that from hours of study, he's just so damned smart it just happened). Now when I'm older and people on a whole are generally more confident, every time I bring up something serious I find it's an excellent way to completely nuke the attention you're commanding.


If you feel you have to bring up heavy science or literature in conversation you're probably suffering from low self esteem. Your "smart moments" are because you believe your perceived value is lower than theirs, so to fix your ego issues you must self-qualify. You have to put aside your vanity if you want to relate to the other 95% of the human population.

Every dude I've ever talked to who gets into heavy discussion quickly comes off as a serious tryhard, because why would a girl give a shit about cosmology when she should instead be respecting your sexual nature? Fuck lectures, I've been to enough of those.

The way to fix this is to learn to enjoy elderly chatter. The degree of your intelligence will also determine the amount of pop culture and humor you must talk about to keep yourself entertained while chatting with women, though this will cost you lays. Are you a movie buff? Then talk about how Pulp Fiction is the most badass movie ever because ""... "". Instead of trying to tickle your brain with intellectual bullshit (which I find highly overrated), pay attention to what gets the panties wet. Once you have learned to satisfy your hindbrain you won't look back.

Well, look at the kind of girls you guys hit on.

Evolution rewards men who have a purpose, who know what they want in life, against the AFC who goes through life picking pennies he finds.
What I want to say, is that to make a women feel you as more attractive instead of boring, you need to be passionate about what you talk about. Don't just start talking about a certain topic, but simply mention it, be mysterious about it, but make it seem like you don't really care about it, nor about what she thinks of you.
Don't try to impress her, impress yourself and you'll impress others.

Hmm, not sure I entirely agree that "showing intelligence" is a limiting factor; I've had quite a few women get very intrigued when they discover I have a technical doctorate. I don't, however, TALK about it. Big difference (bit like elegant DHV vs blatantly trying to boast).

There are plenty of extremely intelligent girls - half the population of every prestigious university in the world, pretty much - but even they dont want to talk about astronomy with you, lol. Probably even the ones who LIKE it, dont want to talk about that with a guy they just met. What they can be though (hopefully) is very sharp, witty, creative, playful, quick to pick up on subtle jokes and vibes, etc. you can be "intelligent" with them and connect with them over it, but not by discussing dry masculine stuff that just doesnt stimulate them atall. Russell Brand is a good example here. Ultra-sharp guy who connects with women through sharp wit, charm, eloquence, etc. Intelligent hotties cant get enough of him. But he's not reading them the Principia Mathematica.

Are you sure the smart ones don't just have higher standards? Not trying to be vain, but I consider myself somewhat smart and knowledgable, and my minimum standards are probably too high for my own good. Not ridiculous, but if I am not attracted to a girl at least X amount, I just couldn't be bothered. Since I am not attracted to overweight girls at all, the pool I play in is quite small. Due to my own choices. Though I see them as inherent unchangeable desires, rather than choices.

If you are smart I wouldn't overthink it. Boys and girls are just different. Irrespective of your intelligence it will be hard to find a girl you can really relate to and have intelligent conversations with. Just accept it and have "real" discussions with male friends, and have fun teasing and talking trash to girls. Using the word "game" to explain the mechanisms of attracting girls is perfect. Games are, or should be, fun. In relating to girls, I find it best just to imagine I'm playing a fun game I don't know all the rules to.

I don't know about the "girls don't care about intelligence" assumptions. Psychologists tell us that people in LTR's are simillar to one another in various ways, something called "assortive mating". This includes intelligence. It would be EXTREMELY unlikley that a husband and wife, say, have vastly different IQ's. Unless one has a exceptionally high IQ (155+). So girls, or guys, may well not care about IQ consciously. The girl cares if he's exciting and stable (good luck getting both those) and guys care about whether she is hot and has an agreeable personality (again good luck...). But despite this people paired up are still similar in intelligence.
