Day game is good at the Bukit Bintang area especially those working girls (no not pros). But for more than a week or so, it'll be tough on the budget. If you're looking to stay for more than a week try to find a decent condo in the Ampang area (via iproperty.com and please negotiate the hell outta them agents), or Couchsurf as the community there is quite receptive as well.

Night / Bar games are divided into sky bars / clubs. But are mostly located in the same area too. It's best to take a chill pill in the sky bars first, then head down to the nightlife below.

As for food around KL, it is one of the best places to eat, BUT provided you got a local to take you out of BB. Otherwise stick to what you like on sight. Oh Chinatown is pretty awesome for suppers too. Just make sure too check out the restaurants which are filled with locals and order what they are eating. English is not a problem anywhere in Malaysia.

By sticking to the malls, I would estimate the damage to be around USD 5-15 per meal (not including drinks), unless you eat cheap. Drinks are pretty expensive at the bars though, runs from USD 10 per cocktail / shot / whatever onwards. Besides that, your largest expense (if you are not couch surfing), stick to the Changkat Bukit Bintang area for USD 17 and up per night. Always keep an eye out as snatch thieves are ALWAYS patrolling the area for easy victims.

I have not been to BKK for the past 4 years or so, but I am still estimating it to be cheaper than KL and Penang. Especially the alcoholic drinks. Me and my mates always drive up north to the border for some cheap booze and good night out. Some places, you probably pay 25% of what you normally do in Penang / KL its ridiculous.

Reading through this thread and having a few laughs to honest. I've lived in KL the 1.5 years and I cannot wait to leave as its a complete boring hole (minus the food which I will confirm is awesome).

I had high expectations moving here but I have to be honest this place is a dump and in terms of girls the ratio of girls to guys is like 1 to 5 and generally the women are not exactly what I would consider hot. Granted I moved here from Rio which is just awesome so I am a bit spoiled to begin with. The guys that tend to rave about all the hot women here in KL you generally find love the Beach Club and other such hooker bars which aren't my thing.

My advice stopover here for a couple days on your way to Singapore or Thailand which are much better choices.

I've only passed through KL on a couple of stop-overs. I found the Chinese women to be stunning. Anyone have much experience with them in particular? My impression is they're pretty westernised and you wouldn't have much of a bump for being a foreigner.

I've never been to either Singapore or Thailand, but I may be including Thailand on my upcoming early 2014 travels, and not Singapore. In sum, I have decided to travel accordingly and concluded by what seems to be general RVF consensus that Singapore is FAIRLY DIFFICULT for guys without a lot of money and game, and Thailand is FAIRLY EASY for guys without game or money.

In essence, from what i read on the forum and thought to be general RVF consensus, I did not consider Singapore and Thailand to be in the same category, as you have made them out to be in the above description.

I didn't say they were in the same category I said they were better choices than Malaysia. They both certainly have what I would consider hot woman and a better ratio than KL for example. Singapore is definitely harder than Thailand and yes you need more coin but that being said I quite like the place personally. Each has its own charm unlike Malaysia.

Anyhow, after living in various place with my work the best place considering all is South America hands down. Look to be moving back to Rio next year and can't wait. It's paradise.

I am planning two weeks in Borneo in July/August. Anyone have suggestions on a good itinerary involving half the time on the beach scuba diving and the other half exploring nature? We're looking to do some moderate hiking, check out volcanoes and hotsprings, zip lines etc. We would rather avoid long transit times (>3 hours) and if possible domestic flights. Will rent a motorbike to get around.

I am traveling with a chick. Accommodation budget: $50-70/day

Penang mid March of 2017

Alright Gents,

I have been in Georgetown, Penang for about 6 days now. I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for a week in the KL area so I figure I mine as well put together a little mini datasheet.

Only a few years ago the exchange rate was 3MYR for 1USD. As of last Monday when I exchanged the bulk of my cash, I received close to 4.5MYR to 1USD. Quite the big jump for those who make money with USD but unfortunate for those who live here on MYR.

Getting around:

Most important thing to know is how dirt cheap Uber is. Average cost for me to go to Paragon from Georgetown was about 6-8MYR. I only paid about 20 MYR to get from the airport as well. Waiting time was usually less than four minutes as well. In other words, Uber is king here.
Like I said above, I came through the airport and used a uber right away to get to my spot. I know some people who took the bus and ferry route and used uber from the pier.
There are rapid buses that are 2myr one way and even some free buses. I used the rapid bus to get back from Penang hill because there weren't any uber drivers within 15 minutes. Took about 45 minutes to get back to Georgetown. Other than that, why anyone would walk or use buses is beyond me because of how inexpensive Uber is.


Logistics
I ended up staying in a hostel near Georgetown. It was close to little India and Chinatown along with some other sites. You can walk to the main club area as well in about 10-15 minutes at night but again why waste time doing that when Uber is so cheap. The E&O is top choice amongst most spenders who come here. They have a very nice digestion menu for dinner, within 200 meters of the main club area, and are on the waterfront. There are other hotels like the Citidel and Riverfront area as well. Its always good to stay within walking distance of the main area but with uber being so cheap and traffic very light at night, staying a little bit outside upper Penang ain't all that bad.



Food and the like
The main reason (other than taking a break from the debauchery of Thailand) I came to Penang was to try the food. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. I tried a variety of Chinese, Malay, and Indian food while here. Most stalls and street food were below 7 a plate. Portion sizes were quite large as well.
I ended up going to the Chulia street market, a street market near Gurney Plaza, and one along with waterfront.
For those who want something different well you have a variety of choices at the mall as well. Again, with the recent drop in currency here food is quite cheap. I went to a nice Chinese restaurant and ordered a big bowl braised beef with noodles, 6 pieces of shrimp and pork dumplings, 6 pieces of dry shrimp dumplings, a bottle of water, and coke all for about 60 MYR. High end set menus were no more than 250 MYR at most places as well.

Beer at 7/11 and other markets were between 12-17 MYR so if you're low on funds I would try to pre drink that way.

Nightlife

Penang is not known for its nightlife. There are basically 2 main areas for a cluster of bars and clubs. The upper Penang road area that is by E&O. This is where you will find the Mois Club, Slippery Senoritas, a few bars, and an outdoor area for drinks. There is another area that is a bit south of Pinang Mansion. Unfortunately I can't remember the street names but there are about 4 or so discos you can choose from.

During this stay, I only went out one night of the week so this is my limited experience so take it for what its worth. I first went to Slippery Senoritas around midnight. I'm not sure if it got crowded later but there had to of been maybe 20-25 patrons in there. When I inquired about cover charges the woman quoted me 300 MYR with a drink ticket included. I was quite shocked to hear such a high entrance ticket at some half empty club so I went directly to Mois. I went to ask the doorman the cover price and he told me to wait and minute so he could talk to his boy. Not willing to wait I ended up leaving to call it a night at my hostel. All that being said, it was not busy at all around that area. Most people were outside chilling with a beer tower or hookah anyways. I saw maybe 10 girls while I was there and maybe 5-6 of them were definite pros.

So I was going to call it a night when I bumped into a guy who was going to a different area (South of Pinang Mansion) instead. So we ended up heading there for the rest of the night. The best club there was called the Bank. It catered to mostly Chinese and some other Asians mixed in. This club had the best ratio of women to men by far. Mind you it was still a 60:40 ratio but it was better than the clubs around it. One club we went to before The Bank did not have a single female inside. Another one we went to that was open until 5 but looked just as bad as well.

Girls

I get it that I'm a black dude in Malaysia but this island gave me the worst blowouts of my life. At night was a little better as some of the Chinese girls would actually respond back in conversation but during the day at the malls or streets girls would basically not even acknowledge me. What's even worse is that when I was talking to girls inside the clubs, the same waiter cock blocked me on two separate occasions!!!! Honestly, I had the best time at The Bank as girls were at least chit chatting but did not get a number for my effort. A little too late I finally got a Chinese girl number today but she won't be off work until Wednesday. I don't plan on staying here just to get a flag.

Personally, I believe The Bank is the best club there. Just remember you will be the only non Asian dude in attendance. Also remember that the songs are in Chinese or bad attempts to sing English songs.
Beers are most of the clubs weren't cheap (20-25) per bottle but if you got a bucket then you would pay between 80-100 for five bottles. Well worth it if you're rolling with another guy.

Other than night game there is daygame at the Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. Most girls were in groups of twos or threes but game on. Again, I had no success here but I at least had fun. You could also do some gaming at street markets and such.

Tinder was a dustbowl for me as well.

All in all it was quite a drastic change when coming from Thailand. I just spoofed my Tinder in KL and things are already much better for me there. Anyways, I wasn't there for pussy but to just relax and eat some good food.

As far as rankings of hotness? Chinese girls at the top and Malay/Indian girls wayyyy at the bottom.


Summary:

For me this place was the hardest spot to game I've ever been to. I get the feeling that it is quite conservative here as I saw maybe two Asian-white pairings. What I should of done is went to KL first to find a girl to bring to Penang. I'm not complaining as I still really enjoyed myself and wouldn't hesitate to return one day.

As an Asian guy that would probably blend right in with the local Chinese, I'm wondering if Penang would be worth the visit. I managed to get laid in KL but I acknowledge its always easier for me in bigger Asian cities because Asian expats with good English means good jobs means good catch. I might play up the Asian expat game but I wonder how much of it is going to work in Penang. The food is legendary I heard but I can get it here in Singapore too so a Penang flag would definitely be the top of my to-do list when I visit. This datasheet is making me wonder if I should push Penang a few spots down my next travel list.

Finally got my first lay in Malaysia from a KL Malay. Day game has been much more pleasant heeded for me around the Pavillion and suria area. Hoping to get my first Tinder lay from a girl who wants to meet later but will probably flake.

I spent 6 days at Langkawi last summer with a good friend. I would like to warn RvF guys about this place. For gaming, it´s absolutely shit.

The island itself is beautiful, and alcohol is about 1/4 of the price, compared to mainland Malaysia. The problem: There is no party to be found.

Upon arrival, I was told that Langkawi is a place for relaxing, not partying like Phuket. I didn´t mind, since usually even the most boring city got at least one decent club or bar. The reality is that 95% of all the visitors fall into one of these categories

1. Couples/honeymooners
2. Malaysians visiting for 1 day, just to buy alcohol and tobacco
3. Large groups of muslim men, mostly from Saudi or UAE.
4. Large groups of Chinese couples.

Even Tinder was horrible, only found about 30 girls in a 10km radius. Even pros. are impossible to find, if you´re looking for that.

We went out every night and got more frustrated as the time passed. The "strip" in Pantai Chenang, the best part of the island has probably 15-20 bars. NONE of these places played loud music, or had any features that would attract single girls.

We did not encounter any groups of decent looking girls without their boyfriends for 6 whole days, it was unbelievable. The best prospect I saw during the whole stay was an underaged girl (16-17) traveling with her parents.

I would recommend a visit for 3-4 days, not a second more.

As fast as we came back to KL the trip improved. Went out to "ZOUK" two times, and it was amazing. They even have a vip entry line for foreigners and the club was packed with talent. I didn´t experience any boost from being white there, but that is nothing one should rely on anyways.

Most of the Malays going to Zouk are to be considered rich.

You best chance will be to find some non-muslim Malay girls who is home from uni.studies in Australia or a more westernized place. There are plenty of them at Zouk.

I would also like to recommend "The face suites" as the best value place in KL.
90$ a night will give you an experience of a lifetime. Infinity pool in the 51st floor and huge suites, they have no ordinary rooms.

Malaysia was cool enough, but I will probably never go back there. The only argument for picking Malay over Thailand is that luxury hotels are cheaper there.

Thailand has more stuff to do, more variety, better girls, better tourist girls and are generally more fun. I have spent about 4 weeks in Thailand and 2 weeks in Malaysia, and this is my impression.
