Hell no. I'm going to wait until she's gotten her drink, has drank it down some, and has joined the party.

The three socnde rule is not the problem here. The conflict is that you are conceptualizing an approach as an "ambush." Maybe you just need to be more indirect, and open her with something more low investment just to get an Elderly chat going.

If you are waiting until she's joined the party, then there's probably a bunch of guys thinking the same. It doesn't matter if she's 'ready' for you to approach. Also, is she the only girl there? Maybe there's a place with better odds?

The point of the 3 second "rule" is to keep you in the habit of cold approaching immediately without psyching yourself out first. It's not to say the "best" way to approach a girl is to do it within 3 seconds, but rather a teaching mechanism for newbies and a way to keep your skills sharp.

The issue here is the venue, not the rule. Even with good game you're fighting an uphill battle in a place where her market value is so high.

A better rule for (especially for guys starting out) is just to approach the first girl you see in a venue once you walk in no matter the quality or age. Then do a few more warm-up approaches for only the purpose of warming up. It gets you in a non-outcome dependent state from the very beginning and makes the rest of the night easier.

I thought the three second rule was a way to get newcomers to game to get over their approach anxiety. When you're just starting out, approaching can be intimidating and if you think too long, you talk yourself out of it. It forces them to hop right into the water.
