Coffee shop yesterday. Two women in my range, different tables. One older, reading a stack of magazines about foreign travel. The other a young girl in her early 20's working on a computer.
I sit down at another table between the two and commence reading. After getting a feel for the terrain, I decide on which target looks more promising: the young girl.
I get up, walk over to her and ask about her computer. I instantly get the "look of horror" and she mumbles a few responses. Feeling my opportunity was blown (and not in a good way), I leave the coffee shop.
Question: should I have attempted to open the older woman after failing at the young girl? My feeling was that my opportunity had passed and it was time to retreat and regroup.

I'm guessing you were a bit too direct. You should ask the question as if you were just passing by, you know, to throw your napkin away.

If you had the opportunity to sit closer to her when you entered, that would've been ideal.

As for opening the other woman, I'd say yes. She's reading travel mags and you're a guy that travels a lot. It's just going to sound like a normal conversation to the first girl, if she even notices.

roosh, what do you think about 'scaring the cat' online. In the "how to get laid on Ok cupid" thread a lot of the guys, like Gmac, advocate pushing quickly for a date and being pretty cocky. I'm assuming they're targeting any girl <30, the oldest I'll even consider is 23 so I message a lot of 18-20 year olds (im only 20). I find our conversation goes well, we're playfully jabbing back and forth, I kind of bait with an activity/a cool bar. she takes the bait and I suggest a meet. i am direct with a day/loctation, but a lot of the time the younger girls either say "yeah cool" or don't reply, its like I scared the cat. Do you think I should reapproach online stuff or just realize that the girls are there just to attention whore.
