A friend showed me this silly little app today. Apparently it was something that the gay community built (Grindr) but it was co-opted by the 'breeders' :Its essentially micro online dating. The idea is to impulse-message people very near your own neighborhood and go hang out with them to make new friends. tard we all know what it's really for. i trust this friend's judgment, and i'm posting it in Travel because he says he uses it to make things happen when he's on the road.

any experiences with this? I could see a good looking guy with game just crushing.

yeah, iOS. you just upload a pic and a basic 'tweet' sized status update and it shows you who else is in the geographical vicinity. my bro said it's basically just the most shallow thing ever. then again, if we match this up to what we already know about women, it should be good for those who are above average-looking.

whether that's me or not...i dont know!

I get why Grindr would work for gay men, but don't see how it can work for the straights. I'd be interested to hear about anyone who has used it successfully.

RE: Blendr
I got my first Skout notch this week. It was kind of roundabout and there's no way I'd spend another minute on location based dating apps. Met woman (~35 year old professional) on there about four months ago, chatted a bunch but I left town before we managed to set up meet. We exchanged numbers though, but communication fizzled out. Then texted her saying I was back in town about a week ago. We met for drinks, and two hours later we were back at mine getting it on.

She was not as hot as her pictures, and it's too much hassle for me to bother with in future.
