First off, some cab companies don't even use a dispatch anymore. A lot of them are automated. Mine happens to use dispatch but I can do whatever I want. My boss is the dude who owns the vehicle I drive and as long as I make enough by the end of the night he doesn't care what I do. Your job with dispatch is to not piss them off, they are not your baby sitter and don't care if your missing for 2 hours.

This job has the most personal freedom of any job I ever had.
