Recently my friend, Diamond whose also a member of the forum, invited me to go accompany him while he drove a couple of his older friends to and from a bar. They were so stoked they didn't have to worry about a taxi they ended up paying us 180 bucks when we dropped them off. The whole time they were drinking at the bar (3 hours or so) we hung out at a hookah bar and ran game while waiting. Basically we made money while we were picking up on HBs. Its the perfect way to make some quick cash while relaxing, just throwing it out there to my buddies on the forum. Hopefully some of you will get some use out of this idea =]

There's actually some guys doing "designated driving" for cash. They advertise for customers.

I saw one such business for sale on the tampa craigslist. Guy only wanted 3 grand for the biz, which essentially was a website and word of mouth as he had been publicized locally on the news.

I thought about getting a plush van and doing this for tourists out for a party in Southeast Asia.

I just posted about doing this in reverse, Zee -- since I was about 23 I've been hiring guys to drive me and my pals or my dates around when I drive.

I usually guarantee $80 for a night, but no more than $120 -- sometimes if I just need a dude for 4 hours I'll flip them a $60.

One of my full time employees started out as my driver 2-3 days a week. Great way to not just make cash, but also make friendly with door guys. I had a 20 year old zipping me around years ago who friended up every door guy at every club, and when he turned 21, he was VIP all the way.

Be careful doing it black market style, Beyond Borders -- at least in the States, you can get a major fine for chauffeuring without a license. SE Asia might be different.

I tell my driver to tell cops that he's the designated driver, not a driver for hire.

Very good tips I'll definitley keep that in mind and that whole "designated driver" thing is genius! Since I'm only 20 I have a full year to do this before I can start getting driven around myself =]

Don't try that in Thailand. Local cabbies are like the mafia...

That's exactly what I was going to say initially -- here in Chicago, if you're running an illegal cab, you'll get beaten down pretty heavily.

In OC theres literally 0 crime or anything to worry about besides cops. I'll probably just go get licensed to do it and make that extra cash till I can legally drink.

go big and buy an older limo. I found a few old ones for sale around me for 8-10k in decent shape. You can offer VIP services at a fraction of the cost as long as you stay up on maintenance.

You could make enough in one night to cover your monthly payments. I had this idea when I was younger and the financials all looked good. Really wish I would have done it then. And you and your buddy can swap out driving the other one for dates.

Great idea. This would be a perfect way for you to be able to party while underage. You basically have a mobile party in a limo, invite girls in from the street, etc. - though the cops may not take kindly to a mobile underage drinking party on their turf.
