This topic has been beaten to death. Short answer: does she pass the boner test? If yes, game on. Doesnt matter if its bc of a dry spell/feeling depressed etc. If not, forget about it, for reasons people already described.

I'm probably in your shoes right now. If they girl is someone I Would bang, then I approach. Makes it a lot less complicated. Eventually, I hope It just becomes auto pilot and I approach everything I want to approach.

I think it's important to "cast a wide net" when beginning. Three years ago I told myself that I was willing to have at least one date with just about anyone. Over the next 3 months, I hit up a few 3-4s, some 5-6s and managed to pull a few 7-8s into the mix, including one that I would get into a relationship with.

Don't look at it as "lowering your standards" or going for just ugly chicks. Look at it as opening up your tolerances. Start talking to ANYTHING that doesn't have a penis. Okay, maybe you can leave out the 300 pound land whales and 70yo grandmas, but, seriously, throw out any standards, preferences, or fetishes you have and just start talking to and hitting up all sorts of women. It will help get you into the casual, active-but-indifferent mind-set that is the core essence of game, help you to avoid oneitis, appreciate all sorts of beauty, get some at bats and develop your game with ease. Just be careful not to mislead any average/ugly girls you have no intention of doing anything with, especially if they are part of your social circle. I made the mistake of target-practicing on two female friends, ugh, my bad, never again. Look for more anonymous women (day game, online) to start practicing on.

The big problem with the mentality of starting low is that, field experience has proven that a 5 might not be any easier to pick up than a 7. A 25lbs weight is lighter than 75lbs, period. Refer to the thread women rejecting alpha males. Sometimes its even harder to pick up a 5 because she is so self concsious and has been accustomed to failure with men, that she develops a cunty attitude.

In the beginning, approach anything from 5 to 8 as long as she passes the boner test. Sure, dont shoot for 9 yet but hey, its fun and not a waste of your time even if you fail. Approaching a 5 and have it turn out poorly make you feel like shit. Bottom line: dont discriminate, but dont limit yourself to any range whatsoever.

All these responses...Here is my experience as a newbie. We have arrived early at the bar...no cutties there except some fat, ugly ones so my friend decides to talk to one of them! Man did she get upset or what? " are you trying to pick me up" thats the first phrase that comes out of her mouth! My friend has plenty of experience with womem but he just stood there like an idiot! Said nothing so I stepped in and quickly replied : " he made a mistake talking to you!" We move on. He is really pissed off!!! "Why was she so rude to me?" he wondered. I leave him with his thoughts and go to the bathroom. The entrance to men-womem is the same. I am washing my hands...and All of the sudden I hear her shoes...I turn around and see the beauty! At list an 8. I smile at her and say "hi" to her! followed with some questions about the town. Within a few minutes I get her phone number, just in case. Later that night I closed the deal with a date. Point is, after seeing that, never talked to fat, ugly one. Always doing better with the hoties.

Ugly girls know they're ugly and react weird to a higher value guy hitting on them. It works really bad with doing a direct opener: "hey you're really cute". Her mind says "that's the first time I've been called that since I was 6! He's trying to fuck me!"

I follow the boner test. Higher thirst means lower standards, sorry guys. We can't all be fucking 10s. I do advocate at least talking to everyone. If you wait around for 9-10s to practice your game, you'll never get any practice.
