They're good if you want more volume and to feel fuller after juicing.

I'm a juice addict now. I juice 2-3 times a day. I can't get over how good it tastes and it's great for you. Not really a bad thing to be addicted to.

Damn.

That is a lot of juicing.

I do it once a day max. I miss days too.

I take it you need a good juicer that's easy to travel with G.

Which one do you use?

I haven't yet.

I just started juicing recently.

If I travel I would just buy one there and leave it behind.

What do you "travel juicers" do?

Stunning video, thanks for sharing (looks like you posted it awhile ago but I just recently joined the forum). Day 20 of Paleo / Hunter Gatherer diet and I have lost 15 lbs and feel incredible. Need to try some juicing to up the veggie intake.

RE: Health: Juicing
Been juicing for about a month and feeling great. I'm hesitant to attribute it all to juicing, since I cut out beer and liquor for January as well and have generally been living clean and training hard, but those extra 10-20 servings of veggies per week certainly can't be hurting. Here's my juicing regimen:

http://www.thumotic.com/2013/01/22/the-t...-protocol/

Cleaning the juicer and getting fresh produce is a bitch, so I would much rather just juice all day Sunday and eat regular food the rest of the week.

Does anyone know of any literature on the comparative effects of consuming lots of juice one day a week vs a glass or two per day? Anecdotal evidence is also much appreciated.

As a healthy juice we should try some honey also, which is sweet in taste some people like sweetness in there juice so they should try this as honey is natural and antioxidants in honey are a cholesterol fighter and it have the potential to protect against heart disease!

Thanks to FitJuice, I began juicing a couple of months ago. I make a large batch of juice once a week (thursdays - that's the day I go to the Farmer's Market in these parts) and stick it in the fridge in a glass pitcher and have a large glass a day, every day. By the seventh day, the juice starts tasting slightly fermented, but that doesn't bother me at all.

As I've been eating clean and working out for years, there is really only one difference I detect...

Heh. I'm turning 40 this year. Since I began juicing, I've been getting morning wood every day like I used to as a teenager. That's a pretty noticeable difference. I thought I'd outgrown that phase.

Apparently Beet and Celery juice is nature's viagra! tard

RE: Health: Juicing
This article http://juicingformen.com/how-many-servin...-in-juice/ cites the Harvard School of Public Health and the Stanford Cancer Centre regarding research on those who juiced, compared with those who don't. Helped clarify a few things for me.

My juices mainly consist of oranges, limes/lemons, carrots and then whatever veg I can get.

My preference would be to get 80% veg and 20% fruit just for the flavour/kick.

I find some vegetables are difficult to get hold of - e.g. Kale, and some don't juice for very well. So I've been using celery and broccoli a lot. What veggies do you guys put in your juices, and what are good ones to put in that are easy to obtain in the supermarket?

RE: Health: Juicing
Ok so I tried juicing leek today.

It is quite a bitter taste, but if you juice it with some citruses such as lemon, lime or orange it will go some (but not all) the way to negating the effects. Depends if you can take bitter tastes. Personally I don't care.

Aside from that, after juicing it. I felt like a raging bull all day and wanted to fuck anything that moves. It wasn't sure if it was a coincidence or not, because I work out a lot, so I've always got the horn, but this is higher than normal.

Sure enough, a quick search reveals it's high in magnesium, and the Ancient Greeks considered it an aphrodisiac.

Quote:Aphrodisiac: Leeks, onions, garlic and celery have been known from centuries for their aphrodisiac effects. Try to make a juice with leeks and celery, and you will soon get into action!

Taken from: http://www.juicing-for-health.com/health...leeks.html

I inadvertently juiced leek with celery today, and I'm being compelled to go out and chase pussy by my crotch.

It might be an anomaly and more research is needed. I'll juice it some more and see how it goes.

RE: Health: Juicing
I got into juicing thanks to this thread from MikeCF. It's great. I think this is the healthiest I've been eating my entire life.

Anyway, I have a little tip that I do myself that might be of interest to others. I have a masticating juicer, so I'm not sure if the other kind would produce the same type of by-product. This is for when you juice veggies. You basically get all these fibers and solid pieces of the veggies left over that has all the fibers and probably still a reasonable amount of nutrients as well.

Most of that, I throw away because it is just too much since I juice every day. I could get into composting and growing your own organic stuff later if there's interest on that. But this is just for these solid left over stuff that are basically shredded fiber.

What I do is this: I buy a large pack of ground beef (usually choose the one with the highest fat content which is generally cheaper and/or on sale, and since I'm lifting now as well, I think it's supposed to help me gain muscles?). Then I take the ground beef and mix it up with the veggies fiber, and add in some soy sauce for flavoring. I make these into meat balls and put them into separate zip-lock bags and freeze them in the freezer.

Later on, I can just take a bag of meatballs out and easily boil it in some water to either just eat the meatballs, or also have it like a meatball soup Smile Nice and simple, and helps add fiber to your diet and maybe will help with the digestion of the meatballs.

Edit: Word of advice: make your juice, drink it, clean up and put away your juicer before you get the meat and make the meatballs to help avoid cross contamination.

Unfortunately, there weren't enough test samples to continue the tests!

The plain fact is that leek sucks balls. I can't stomach the taste of it, it's like a spicy onion when juiced and completely overpowers all the flavours.

I can handle eating stuff that tastes like crap, more than anyone I know, but I had to tap out with leek.

The times I did juice it with celery, I honestly felt a surge and felt like a horny dog. It could juice be a coincidence.

I want to experiment with some more like pomegranate juice.

I have. I only peel off one or 2 layers of the leaves and juice that at a time, never the whole thing. It's not that strong when you juice it in very small amounts.

I bought a masticating juicer, but I find I still use my vitamix much more and make smoothies. I drink Kimberly Snyder's glowing green smoothie every morning for about 2 months. http://kimberlysnyder.net/blog/ggs/

I've noticed more energy, better digestion, and for passing waste has become much easier and more efficient.

Mike, can I juice in the mornings during the fasting period on Lean Gains for example? Or does it constitute more calories?

As I know pretty much the most calories you can have is black coffee, and a banana alone is too much.

Yes, red cabbage has been one of my staples, must mix it with something else sweet, doesn't taste good on its own.

A pure green juice (i.e., no apples or even carrots, just greens) should be fine. However the guy who created the diet may not agree and it's his diet so he'd be "right."

I just made this, curious on juicing cabbage.

I initially put in several leaves, but that wasn't enough, so I put in the whole cabbage. The cabbage is strong but it's still nice. I might try adding carrot next time.

When I got down to the core, to make it manageable I cut it into chunks with a knife, as opposed to wrestling through it with your fingers.

You get about 1 cup from a whole cabbage.

RE: Health: Juicing
This is my new go to recipe. Thanks to G for recommending the beets.

2 large carrots
3 leaves swiss chard
1 apple
1 whole beet

I take this before working out or grappling and it's excellent.

Beet juice is far more palatable that eating beets, in my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of juicing spinach, kale, parsley, cilantro, etc. because the juice yield isn't enough. I feel like I'm wasting the plant, so I use my VitaMix for the all green drinks.

Anyone else working with a solid (and delicious) recipe?
