Come on, it's clear from a mile away that SXSW would be as big a cockfest as Comicon. How many women are going to get off their asses and fly in to listen to cutting edge indie-rock and see interactive seminars?

SXSW seems cool, but you'd have to be going there for the music, not a fuckfest. If I wanted the latter, I'd go to Cancun in a few weeks.

I'm at SXSW right now... I came just for the music though.

All of the UT broads (along with the Texas State, SMU, Baylor, UTSA whores) are in Padre, Seaside, Cancun, or Cabo.

Not the time to be hollering at UT chicks.

What's funny.....

I know a lot of guys in tech. Quality guys. Your traditional, "If I found a woman I'd treat her right," kind of guys.

Other than the ones with gold diggers (ie at Facebook, Twitter, etc.)...mostly single.

When girls say, "Where are the good men," I remember my time in the Valley.

Any girl looking for a good guy could go to a tech conference and meet tons of quality guys.

Instead, they keep going for guys like me.

LOL.

When I feel guilty for being a jerk, I think of all the guys who are nicer than me, make more money, and would treat a woman better....and who women hate because of it.

Then I don't feel so bad.

SXSW really isn't for the purpose of fan enjoyment. It's primarily a music BUSINESS function. Because it happens to be in a college town there may be some added incentive for some guys to roll down there, or for guys that are into the alternative/obsure band scene, but it really isn't about enjoying music. It's about bands getting signed, labels doing business, and industry tech.

I spent a few days partying it up and the sheer amount of dudes was obvious. There were chicks there but most of the hotter ones were brought by guys and very few were there on their own dime. I met chicks that were there for the music portion but didn't even like music (?) Men IMO are more legitimate music fans. They break females into new and underground stuff. SXSW does not surprise me being a cockfest the only females I know whom are wanting/have/ or are planning to go are music geeks whom spin around on music pipe. I def want to check it out one year but I feel its been whored out by corporations and Social Media start-ups?

That's just the fact of life. If you want girls, go to a yoga class lol.

I live in Austin and while I've complained about Austin's ratio before I've had good luck during SXSW the past 3 years. Here is what you need to know.

Firstly do not buy any badge or wristband, totally overpriced and tons of free stuff anyway.

There are 3 parts to SXSW:
1.) Interactive

This is going to be all dudes and a few nerdy chicks who think they are 10s now because of all the attention. It's the first weekend of the festival.

2.) Film

Never participated in this part, because you need to buy a badge to do anything.

3.) Music

This is the second Wed-Sunday of the festival and the best part. Nearly every band playing that requires a badge also has a free show somewhere if you research the shit out of it online beforehand. Also "auditorium shores" (a park) has free shows all weekend. I had the best luck here, the Counting Crows show on Friday was nearly all chicks. St. Paddy's day also falls somewhere in here so there is a big party on 4th street along with bands playing at random bars for SXSW still.

I also had really good luck volunteering for the festival. I volunteered for the interactive week one year and got a free music badge. I met a lot of girls who were also volunteering and went out to the events with them after the shift was done.

The subreddit reddit.com/r/sxsw helped me find a lot of the free stuff. Most of my friends hate SXSW for the reasons others stated, but if you do it right you can clean up. The key is the free shows, because as we all know girls are cheap as hell.

If you live in towns that get these major festivals rolling through. volunteerism is solid way to get free shit and meet a ton of women. I did "promo" for a music festival in Toronto one year. This was before game so I did not take advantage as much as I should but it was easy work and you did was talk to women all day. It was solid.
