Exactly. I'd be pretty happy too if every bar was a taco fest and even if I didn't try very hard, I got ass and drinks and food thrown at me the moment I stepped outside.

DC girls are the epitome of First World Problems. The hardest part of their average day is the Starbucks they normally go to had a long line. My steady girl for the moment is a DC girl, and while she's very rare in that she's not fat, entitled, and manly, she has this problem, I constantly tease her about how she's never really had any real problems in her life. She's actually become much more positive because of it, because now she realizes how good she has it.

You have to realize the "single" women in areas like DC have 5 guys at any given time that they can call for anything from sex, dates, to cuddling. They arent single, they're uncommitted, there's a difference, but they'd be damned to admit it.

I still think that there are more single women in the DC area than there are men. The problem is that more below-average women in DC that get hit on by guys. In other words, a DC-area woman has to rate around a 2-and-below to not get approached.

Also, understand that not only are there a lot of guys in DC, there are a lot of HIGH STATUS guys in DC. Dating a lawyer is nothing in DC. They are everywhere. Back when I lived out there, I knew MULTIPLE girls in DC that were 4's AT BEST, who were going out with high paid lawyers and lobbyists.

Combine that with the fact that DC tends to repel hot looking, feminine women (they go to Vegas, LA, and Miami) and draw in plain, oftentimes androgynous, feminists, and you have a case of a pool of below average women and a pool of above average men.

I still don't know why hot chicks from around the country (especially the South) don't just move to DC in groups, get some waitressing job, and go out on the hunt for a husband. They would be the happy housewife to some high powered lawyer making $300K+ in under 2 years.

Gmac has done a good job chronicling this, and I'm noticing it as well when I go out. You'll see well dressed guys slinging cash around, but then you pay attention and you'll see all the chicks with them are wearing loose jerseys and drinking bud light.

There's A LOT of attention whoring that goes on here as well. I'll see girls grind up on five different guys in one night, never to leave or kiss any of them. I'll make a firm approach though, and the bitch shields flare up in full force. I swear its like they avoid semi-attractive confident guys because they know the inner slut will lead them to yet another ride on the carousel

You could probably say the same of the Bay Area.

Bad sex ratios are a lot worse than just an arithmetic shortage. It fundamentally alters the perceptions of women. It's not just that say, every man must lower his standards by a point. Even after that, dissatisfaction among women is *higher*. This is why if you have the same men, and *decrease* the number of women, the women will start complaining *even more* just as their options are getting *better.* Why would they complain more after their situation has improved?

We've all noticed it in bars - when the ratio is bad, women walk around with this instinctive assumption that *all* the men there are low value. This is happening en masse. Maybe what they're really complaining about is having so much choice that they're too slutty now to settle down with one man.

DC has one of the few good economies.

You would think the place would be chock-a-block with hot hookers. They would clean up. Especially with the weesh civilian population.

I mean, Economic Law dictates that it would be.

Interesting study. Seems like the too much choice phenomenon seen with consumer choice. Basically as you increase the number of choices from none to a moderate amount, consumer satisfaction goes up, but with continued increase in choice, consumer satisfaction goes down. IIRC, they attributed it to higher levels of regret. If a car came in only 2 colors, it would be pretty easy to pick one and never look back. If it came in 20 colors, not only is it harder to choose, but it's much more likely that after living with the chosen color for a while, you'll wish you had picked another.

So you have women having trouble choosing one man because it is so easy to meet new men given the sex ratio, and she may always feel like a richer, better looking, more dashing man is just around the corner. And even when she does settle, she is constantly reminded of all the other choices out there, and no doubt some will seem more appealing than the one she has chosen and has seen all his imperfections, not to mention the boredom that creeps into long term relationships.

Contrast that with a sex ratio flipped in men's favor with far more women. Now if she lands a good man, but not a perfect one, she is far too preoccupied with fretting over how to keep him from the hordes of other women, and she isn't as easily spoiled by what she has or spending as much energy exposing herself to new men.

At my job...and I kind of hate saying this because she is so nice but one of the admin assistants is basically shaped like a pear and pretty young and RECENTLY married. Every time I pass by her I am thinking "who in the blue hell would seriously date LET ALONE marry her??" Come to think of it, there are several married women at my job, with a couple having their wedding pics on their desks (chubby in the pics too).

Mindboggling.
