Jeans and flip flops. Wear a button down shirt from the surf shops.

In the Florida humidity, I'd skip the funky hats and all that shit, and go with something simple that wicks away sweat.

As much as I hate flip flops, I'd be wearing them every day in Florida. A light pair of shorts too made from a blend of cotton and something else so they aren't as heavy and hot. Or, if you live near the beach, wear a pair of swim trunks around.

I used to make an effort in the heat to wear something with a little style but shit when its hot and humid you just cant. I got here to Phuket with my normal vneck tight fitting shirts, trendy shorts, ditched them all and bought the cheap ass singlets from the local stands, 5 bucks and you dont give a shit if you get sunscreen all over them, and swim trunks all the time. There is no way to look stylish dripping sweat and with sweat pouring through your shirt. Get comfortable in that heat and presentable unless you're going somewhere with AC then the linen suits are pimp if not a bitch to keep unwrinkled.

This is what I'm getting at. I don't sweat in the heat because of the clothes I wear. Forget the jeans and the beaters. Do you really want to wear that stuff for the next 6 mos?

The problem is that really cool summer stuff looks kinda gay. If you wear a 100% cotton tshirt you will get drenched so I'm looking for the lighter stuff that's not shiny.

Maybe you need to come here in August. The water temp is over 90

I know what the mechanic is on about. I was living even further south than him and I was cooked every day. It was so hot, I didn't give a fcuk what people thought. It was wife beater every day and flip flops. I would like to see people talking all this suit and hat talk to go to Florida (with that humidity) and pull off ANY suit.

It's funny that we can talk suits all day here but we've got nothing but beaters and flip flops for hot weather. Where do you think there's more pussy? High end hotel lounge or a tiki bar near the beach?

What about this place? http://www.tommybahama.com/store/index.jsp

Seems like it sells just the kind of summer stuff we're talking about here. I think summer you pretty much have to go short sleeved, which kind of sucks if you're a skinny dude. I think you gotta wear some kind of pants, shorts is not a good look, at least for me. Also, it seems like you can't layer too much or you'll just get too hot. But night time summer vs. day time summer is a bit different, no?

Not that much. Even when it's late if you have to go outside with a long sleeve shirt rolled up you will be uncomfortable.

I can't do that Tommy bahama stuff. It looks real gay/buffety to me.

I nailed Tommy Bahama in an earlier post. The first image you posted is pretty similar really. Describing it as gay/Buffety is funny.

A linen suit will shade you from the sun and create a breathable layer of air around you that draws moisture from your skin. Take a look at how arabs dress in the heat - it ain't in shorts - it's actually layered. Seersucker works a similar way because the fabric doesn't entirely touch the skin.

I know you don't want that, and you don't want a gay/Buffety shorts look - so how about this:

White cotton v-neck. Simple, breathable, classic. You can switch it up for a wife beater when trolling the trailer parks.

As for pants, if you don't wear pants you are stuck with beige tommy bahama shorts, so opt for breathable linen pants:

To pull it off you need good shoes. Everything else kind of fades so a good physique and nice, killer shoes are essential. And aviators. The entire goal is to set yourself above every other guy wearing beaters and flip flops. If you want breathable shoes - take a look at nice leather driving shoes, they are designed to be more loose and breathe because metal pedals used to get hot.

I can't believe you're still posting jackets and long pants here. It wont work. You'd have to pour a whole box of baking soda on your body every 10 minutes.

Emech, shorts just aren't a good look unless you are on the beach. Shorts also ruin your option to wear nice shoes - which is more important than it sounds. I thought this was a style thread. If you want an edge over every other dude wearing shorts and flip flops then you can't wear them. I've tried to help out by posting fabrics that breathe and remove moisture from your skin - namely linen & seersucker. Cotton is breathable but absorbs moisture.

I hope I am in Florida on one of those hot summer days, I'll be sure to stop by with some linen pants and we'll swoop down at the tikibars Smile

El mech,

Go with a button down linen shirt and linen shorts/trousers* with a breathable slip on or boat shoe. This looks classy and will set you apart from from the mob in t-shirts, shorts and sandals. Linen shirts are much more breathable than cotton (you will not sweat half as much), all of this is very practical for beach wear and can be dressed up for evening use with the addition of a linen jacket. For all of this make sure you get 100% linen. Linen blends, while holding a better shape, are much warmer on.

*You've clearly written off linen trousers, though you should give them a try. They will not cause you as many problems as you think.

This all served me well during heatwave in the south of Spain. Temp and humidity were comparable to your summers.
