That's still not a "young mom" by any stretch, but I think what she meant was "a mom of young kids." I look at it this way: At least she had kids. Almost none of women I know her age did, and because of that, they're bitter and weird as hell.

Revealing insight into her thinking there. Had she said, "As the mother of young children", it would have been both accurate and an effective bit of political marketing (it'd be showing solidarity with the mommy demographic, while subtly calling male attention to the fact that she's a little bit older and by assumption wiser and therefore no Occasional-Cortex).
But the construction she actually used demonstrates some hamster-catalyzed truth transmutation at work. "As a young mom" is delusional. The comment is as false on its face as it is on hers: she's an old mom, older than usual. She knows this, she can't not know it given the interventions it probably took to get her pregnant at 36 and 41, and given the strange looks and unavoidable comments she's received for the past decade from teachers, other parents, strangers, etc.
Yet in her mind, having young kids magically makes
her young, herself - literally and not in the "I feel young again" metaphorical sense her fictional counterpart in a Hallmark Movie might use. It reminds me a little of the trend years back of women declaring themselves "born-again virgins". Or, if you like, the present trend of leftists believing that whatever gender you believe yourself to be in the moment is the axiomatic truth of the matter, feeling alone making the assertion reality in spite of all contradictory evidence.
So you might say Kirstin Gillibrand is
in fact young, because she
identifies as young - facts be damned and don't you dare question her.

- Claim of abuse weaponized to establish 'absolute moral authority': check.
- Conceited self-characterization as some variant of 'strong independent fierce woman': check.
- Un-self-aware contradiction of same through recounting of her near-breakdown over being treated poorly by some ass: check.
- Writes vengeful screed and posts publicly, whines about totally predictable backlash: check.
- Passive-aggressively solicits apology by meekly claiming she doesn't want an apology, gets one anyway, thunders that it's not good enough: check.
- Claims to be a writer: check.
- Too wrapped up in her dramatic turn to spell/grammar check her writing: check.
- 'I'm not a snowflake, you snowflakes who are calling me a snowflake are the real snowflakes!': check.
I suspect there are more to be found past the first page of her timeline.
- Keeps the whole thing to herself, graciously accepts apology, exercises self reflection, learns something about herself and moves on : No check.

I wish Craig Dean had recorded the interview. Would be fun to see just what actually happened. Just a guess, but I bet her story would not match what really happened. Poor memory and narcissistic rationalization can manifest very odd/false recollections.
Projection, transference and medication could also be in play.
Also, if any of what she has claimed did not happen, what are the UK laws like regarding defamation? There were two witnesses.
