Funny you should say this. She reminds me of someone I used to date. She was annoying when she was younger, but is unbearable to such a big degree now that I can't spend more than an hour with her.

The word "Fuckboys" is a major slut tell. It means two things:

1). She's continuously making bad choices.
2). If she's made good choices, she ruins that and drives the guys away by being unbearable.

This video is like a case study in girls to avoid: Hoop earrings, "Fat Girl" voice (she sounds like a schoolteacher talking down to kids), pretentious editing, references to gender, "fuckboys," mile-a-minute rambling, digressions about pointless bullshit, calling men "boys," still acts and thinks like a 13-year-old...

I noticed this too. She also gets more than half a million views per video.

Video is replacing print as a main source of communication. One problem with that is that the video medium is more rewarding to women (because everyone likes to look at them) and "characters" (because personality matters more in video than content).

If we didn't have YouTube and this woman had to write her thoughts in a book, no one would read it. But the presentation -- as annoying as it is -- has a quirkiness to it that draws people in.

This is one reason the manosphere hasn't broken out bigger into the mainstream. It has lots of great thinkers and writers, but no video-driven characters. No one "hams it up." Maybe that's a good thing.

Also, I think this is part of the reason for the success of Ben Shapiro. He comes across well on video, sort of like a Jewish version of Alex P. Keaton from the old "Family Ties" show.

When it comes to visuals, cute always wins over smart or original. Had MTV not appeared in 1981, the history of music would be radically different and I bet neither Bon Jovi or Madonna would have been nearly as huge.

Question (and a bit of a tangent): Clearly there is a subset of late X'ers and Millennials that respond positively to jump-cuts, but why? I despise jump-cuts in vlogs. They're distracting and they make the vlogger look lazy and totally lacking in any editing skill. Also, it makes me wonder if the vlogger relies on jump-cuts to edit out the dead space in their presentations, or constant and Justin Trudeauian "umms" and "ahhs".

The tut sound at 1.5 seconds was enough to tell me her life story. There are some girls that can talk and talk and it's nice and pleasant to listen to, even if you're not paying attention. She's not one of them.
