According to the article, a recent college grad is suing for 150,000 dollars in damages. The girl claims that her roommate was having sex with her boyfriend several times while she was trying to sleep, and while she was in the same room. This sent her into a serious depression, and she eventually finished her degree from home.

When I was a tight young boy in college, you could change roommates if you weren't getting along. So no, this isn't a legitimate reason to sue.

I think she is crazy for trying this, but then again as we all know (and Athlone constantly reminds us) that bitches be crazy.

I had a serious problem with a roommate and actually had him reassigned. Guy habitually would leave the door cracked when leaving (after I already had gone, because he always lost his key), leading to theft of my computer with all my work among other things. Wasn't too keen on my security always being comprimised and I had already let him know before anything actually happened...

As for roommates having sex in the room while you're sleeping... I thought everyone that lived in dorms had been on both sides of the fence with this one in college

Maybe she should've tried politely asking them to stop F'ing on the top bunk while she was trying to catch some Z's on the lower one..?

Or yeah, switch to the "quiet" dorm. Every campus has one..at least at the big state schools.

Im sure her legitimate reason is that she found out that her ex-roommate is filthy rich.

I don't see that she has grounds for a lawsuit. There are any number of possible remedies that should have been tried before filing suit. It's like anything that hurts someone's feelings is grounds for suing for some form of "emotional distress."

She isn't suing the roommate. She's suing the school because it didn't comply with a bunch of laws. Check the article.

Some prick lawyer thinks she has a case. If shes suing the school she probably has grounds to win the case. She should have aimed higher and settled out of court.
