You will get attention when your drink appears to be too weak, and you pull out your flask and top it off, and if the bartender sees it your next drink will be stronger. It also worked good because Place 3 stopped serving alcohol at 12:30, I have no clue why. And you always have some after party liquor handy when you a pull a girl back.

Are you actually allowed to do it in bars, though? I used to carry a flask, but used it discreetly. A drinking buddy of mine used to add some vodka to his drinks under the table. I am not judging, just curious, because using a flask would help me cut my expenses big time.

@bro. yeah you can do that in a bar. I've never had a problem. Buy a drink, take a taste before you buy. If its weak, throw the bartender a twenty and top it off right in front of her. She'll get the message and either hook up with a free drink (you still throw her cash for a tip) or make your next one strong as fuck. never failed.

I'm digging the evolution of the suit game. I guess there are ways to "peacock" - for the lack of a better term - without looking like a complete tool and I like the belt buckle vibe. I have a really obvious Burberry belt that I use to a similar effect.

I worked behind the bar for a year and I've never seen someone break out a flask. Have heard lots of bitching about "make it stronger" though, which was sort of silly because I would always spill over for a second while jiggering shots (my attempt at circumventing management rules).

yeah you can tell when a bartender is trying to hook you up or when they are being stingy for the house.

If a bartender is hooking up the drinks, but they are still a bit weak to my taste, Ill pull out the flask and top it off while still tipping them what I normally would tip a cool bartender. Being behind the bar I am sure you understand about the house making their drinking rules and I understand when a bartender is trying to help but also trying to keep his job.

I havent had a problem doing it as long as stay within the social rules that govern bars.

depends on the place man. I don't live in a huge city so people arent used to high rollers coming in. A straight five dollar tip can mean alot to a bartender at my regular spot. If its a new spot and im trying to lock it down ill normally throw out a twenty and not ask for change. It normally takes them off guard and as long as your cool about it in a "nah dont worry about man, keep the change" type deal your gonna get great service.

Grease the bouncers a couple times too. I like to order a red bull at the bar and tell the bartender to send to a bouncer, its a good cheap way to build rapport.

One of my favorite past-times here is going to the dive bars dressed in a white shirt, black tie, shirt suspenders and black hi-top shoes.

It makes one stand out from the sausage hoard of hearing-aid-beige t-shirts and denim jeans which are so baggy that they could dress two septic tanks.

Girls will just open you, grin at you, wink at you and gravitate towards you. I've even had one girl grab me on the dancefloor while the other girl was in the bathroom. Guys will look at you like shit because they're jealous and they bizarrely haven't thought of this idea.

Of course, dive bar girls are easier than 'normal girls' and this is potentially helped by being in Asia. But suiting up makes things child's play, it feels like I'm cheating.

On two occasions, I've gotten blown out in a normal club and have ran over to get my bang at the dive bar while suited up.

Always suit up! it's a good 'cheat code'

Booshala and I had this exact conversation maybe 2 weeks ago. I had a suit on that fits well, but it was 400 bucks.

Its a IDGAF (I don't give a fck) suit. If somebody drops a drink on you or flicks ash, you wont flip out or get upset. Thats why I prefer it for nightlife. Furthermore, a well-tailored, well-fitted suited w/look 90% as good as a designer MTM. Most wont be able to tell the difference.

The only way I "peacock" is throwing in a flashy square.

+1 for all the effort put into your post.

But I do disagree with the above statement. A suit isn't always the answer.

Nice work.

There are very few places where I go that a suit is appropriate. Plus you don't want to be wearing whatever everyone else is. For me, jeans, boots, and a tailored blazer works most of the time. I get a lot of looks wearing that combination in the airports, and in mid-range venues. The key is to be non-congruent. Standing out gets you laid. The problem is knowing how not to stand out in a bad way.

Thanks for the great post. I put the important part in BOLD. It's also important that you were in a smaller town. I would be very cautious pulling out a flask in a big town/city bar if you're not tipping the bartender big ($20 is a pretty damn big tip even in the bigger city bars, no wonder you've never gotten thrown out for flasking out in the open). Just goes to show you as well that suiting up will get you better treatment in more ways than one. Who doesn't like getting treated better?

Also, a great combination of two classic G moves, bankroll + suiting up = combo for the KO.

What do you guys think of the idea of buying a few $99 suits? How obvious is it?

If you're on the lean side, I'd highly suggest Zara or H&M instead of those "3 suits for $300" joints. The suit fabric is still going to be cheapie polyester blends but at least the fit is slimming and you can usually get out with $200 for the jacket and pants plus tailoring.

Uniqlo is great for this too, but they're only in NYC and SF. I mix in a few $200 unipqlo suits with my Givenchy and MTM and it doesn't stand out from stuff thats 10x more expensive unless you actually touch the fabric.

Apparently Dillard's had some sale on all their suits on e in a while where it's 60% off then another 40% so you can buy some really great suits for dirt cheap. Some of my lawyer buddies have cleaned up like this. I'm going for it next time.

Quote:Moral:

Dont be afraid to suit up anywhere. If your nervous about hitting some new venues and its your first time rocking a suit. Bring a girl or a friend along. When you are seen with people that don't think it is weird for your be to suited up, no one will think otherwise.

You are different. Be prepared. Haters will hate. Girls will eye fuck you. You may get special treatment. Your low-key and manly, don't flash money like your dying to show off that wad you just pulled from the ATM. Don't act like a douchebag thinking your better than everyone else. Do spit game.

Dude this is fantastic.

Keyboard jockeying here, but perhaps this might explain your results --

1- High end venue --- why it worked -- (Perceived)Status. Plus women in the high end circles more likely to have seen/gone out with people who wore suits, and therefore more likely to have some sort of positive frame of reference. Granted that all kinds of rich losers and douchebags wear suits, but the suit coupled your social circle, having fun and spitting game made you a wanted man.

2- Middle group - Try hard. A little exposure to suits, but no real experience with Super Alphas, therefore scant positive real life correlation. Suits primarily viewed as something "Gamey", too overt, assumed over correction on your part. Plus, considering the recession, the whole down-with-the-bankers-and-wall-street-thugs-sour grape syndrome.

3-Lower end venue --- why it worked --- Contrary game. Little exposure to suits if at all. Plus you being comfortable in your skin, no overt flashing ("Your low-key and manly, don't flash money like your dying to show off that wad you just pulled from the ATM.") -- you came across as mysterious, and powerful-- the intended purpose of wearing the damn suit. Not the chest beating types. Needless to say, if you'd flashed cash and acted pricey, chances of hate(like the middle group, only more intense), mugging etc would've gone out.

Again, off the top of my head. May not be entirely correct.

Macy's is dumping some suits cheaply.

http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?firstonly=1&q=macys

Limited selection, but they had Lauren for 119 I think. I couldn't find the link again - but check out Macy's if you want a cheap suit that will pass for decent.

Guys who are odd sizes will probably have more luck.

Like if you are a 48L and need something different this is only 70 bucks.
http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/andre...&RVI=PDP_2

And look for coupons, I think there is some stuff floating around to help you lower the price more.

But let's be clear, this isn't top notch stuff that is on sale at Macy's. But good for a don't give a fuck suit or for a starter suit.

Some of this stuff is NOT WOOL. I am not saying you need wool, but to some this matters.

Although this thread is 5 yrs old, great read and still applies today. Funny that an Express suit I bought got more compliments and looks at a few happy hours/networking events from 30 something milfs and cougars than my custom that cost 3x more.

a couple weeks ago I picked up a chick from a major casino area (not vegas) when I was suited up. It was a cheap $400 white suit, black t shirt, black and white spotted pocket square, superman belt bucket.

I remember a bit back we were having a conversation on how young guys can rock suits and not be pegged as the typical banker guy. I think I figured it out, I may be 27 but I look like im about 19 (I get carded almost everywhere). I grew my hair out and mohawk it when I go out. Combine that with a cool random ass belt buckle, my superman one kills it, and now your a classy mysterious guy that doesn't give a fuck about social norms.

Just a theory, but it got my laid with a sexy ass 105lb chick. I'd give her and 8, maybe 8.5 if she had some bigger tits. I got a picture of it somewhere i meant to post, let me see...
