Yeah, I have been told I had a southern drawl (It has gotten more pronounced as I've gotten older). I grew up between Detroit and Kalamazoo. When my folk split up, I would spend summers between the two places and also spent some time in Flint.

Probably comes from my parents who were from MS and AL respectively. My generation is the first that was born and grew up in the north but my people were/are still country as hell which may explain my dialect and tonality. Growing up we would take trips down south every year so I look at my influences as a huge bowl of gumbo.

*Fun Fact - The screen name MY DETROIT PLAYAS was taken from a line in B.I.G's hypnotize, sure some hip hop heads picked up on that though

That is better mind set than I had when I was younger. My father used to bust my ass about my receding hairline. It always pushed up my perceived age up. I remember being 23 in college and when I asked people how old they thought I was, it was always older than 23. The exception was foreigners. A group of Koreans thought I was 18. Usually people would guess my age range being 27+. I remember a few people assuming I was 40.
