RE: The ultimate Bangkok nightlife guide.
It is in the Windsor, Soi 20 I believe. Was pretty busy, just the right amount I'd say. I think Sundays are becoming my favorite night to go out. Less people and seems to be a good night to approach.

I wasn't planning on going out at all. Me and my friend went to get dinner at Paragon. Then we decided to stop at Oskar bar for a drink, then we got a few beers at a little corner bar. Next thing ya know I am getting home at 4:30AM and spent 1,500 baht lol.

Nice, yeah thats one thing I havent found yet, good hooker-free after-hours places. Will hit up Scratchdog.

Loving RCA at the weekends. It's really class, reminds me of a thai version of a Vegas club, lol. The only thing I hate is the tables/trolleys that fill up the places. No room for dancing, although seeing some thai girls attempt to, probably a good thing. They're definitely more suited to standing around looking hot.

Are you here too, Richie? We should all do a meetup. Soma is in town and I have met up with the_condutor. We should all meet up for some beers here soon.

That's a cheap night for me. I am routinely spending several thousand baht every time I go out, beers, whisky, mixers, taxis, club fees. Especially when I hit the after hour places and it's automatically 200baht a drink.

Where you staying Rio, what part of town and in an apartment or hotel? Also what happened when you guys hit up RCA at the weekend, tell us the story...

SafeHouse in Thong Lor / Ekkamai area might be what you're looking for, I didn't make it as planned last week as detailed earlier in the thread but it's in near the 'HiSo' places of Funky Villa, Demo, Sonic, Muse etc so can't see it being a pro place.

Where do you recommend at RCA? I don't know why but I always completely forget about RCA for a night out, last time I went was 3 years ago and it was Route 66 for a very short period of time to meet a girl and then take her home, didn't experience any of it. I agree with the thai girls dancing thing, mostly terrible. Even the table dancers at Soi Cowboy bars can't dance.

Just got into Bangkok today. Gonna use this thread as a semi blueprint. I don't do much gaming per se, but this seems like a good way to have a bit of guaranteed fun. Thanks for all the info.

RE: The ultimate Bangkok nightlife guide.
I'm new to this forum, but you all seem legit so I'm going to save you all a lot of time and effort:

Go to RCA (Route, Slim, or occasionally a random other), buy a bottle, get a well-located table (tip the floor staff for this) and get to work, and if you strikeout go to Scratch Dog. SD is the ultimate fall-back. The other after-hours places usually have much higher working girls:girls ratios (note: even SD has LOTS of working girls, but generally also many non-working girls).

Best play is to game girls in the ~1-1.5 hours before the main clubs close, and then tell the girls you're not done partying and they should bounce with you to SD. Post venue-change they're in your group and it should be game over.

Things that will make your life easier: having a male Thai friend or two in your group, having a female Thai friend or two in your group, getting to know door staff and floor staff over time. Do all three.

For a tougher scene, do Thonglor for the first half of the night, but expect a tougher time as a foreigner at places like Muse, Funky, etc; not impossible though by any means. RCA just tends to have more girls willing to mingle with foreigners, especially at places like Route.

RCA is becoming increasingly popular with foreigners as the number of expats (especially young expats) has grown a lot in the last 3-4 years. This is good. However it means if you want to go out to places where being a foreigner may still be a bit of a novelty you have to hit places like Ratchada Soi 4, Ari, etc.

One more thing: places on Soi 11 are virtually never worth your time (excluding Bed sometimes and Nest - maybe Q if you're into that type of girl), and I wouldn't go in Spicy/Bossy/anywhere open past 6am if you paid me. Just never, ever any quality in these joints.

i miss bangkok. it is such a truly great city with a phenomenal buzz. one night i went exploring in thong lor and ended up in an almost entirely thai club (only 2 other foreign guys my age). the quality was something i've never seen before. these girls were extremely good looking on average. about as good looking as the ferraris outside the club.

Ended up going to Spicy last night at about 2AM because a friend wanted to go. Place fucking sucks. I knew it sucked and is packed with hookers because I had been there last year, but didn't realize how bad it was since that was my first week in Thailand ever. Place is a shit hole and zero fun unless you want to grab a hooker.

Thanks for the info, Trey.

RE: The ultimate Bangkok nightlife guide.
On my last trip to BKK I went to Spicy and it was a total whore fest, on arriving back here this time someone said it had changed and wasn't much of a pro place. I went and was amazed, it had been done up, the clientel had changed, there was no farang, no sex tourists, no pros and just normal thai people, mixed groups, thai guys, thai girls. I ended up back at a fairly well off girls condo, she drove me there in her BMW. Ever since I've been back there in the last few weeks it has not been like that at all and has been a full on sex tourist and pro club. I keep getting into bad situations going there but I can't stop partying at 2am when all the normal clubs in BKK close so I always end up here (then usually in Swing too) or in Climax. You do get 'normal' girls there, I've met a few and they won't go home with you that night and they are definitely few and far between but they exist. Unfortunately you also get these girls who are not bar girls, don't dress or act like pros, don't tell you they are wanting sex for money (and probably dont consider themself pros) and will even deny it when you ask but are actually freelancing. I've had a couple of shitty situations recently where I've made it clear to girls in Spicy I dont pay for sex and they should go find someone else if thats what they want and they totally deny it then when we get back to my place or in the morning they ask for money.

What would you guys say are the best clubs for dancing top40 in BKK?

Not a fan of the house music or places where girls are not dancing on a decent sized dance floor.

I spent a lot of time at Saxophone Pub. It was near my place, so a good place to take women too before going to my place. Music is also excellent. I was always with a date there, but I saw a lot of opportunities, especially at the bar, with Thai and Japanese/Korean women sitting alone or in pairs.

Other places were The Iron Fairies and the group of bars grouped around the where Mr. Jones's Orphanage, Thong Lor 15, seemed like there were opportunities if I had been alone.

Patpong is your best best. A lot of them are pretty scammy and charge you a lot once inside. I went to one that offered you a ticket 200 baht and included a drink. Others will tell you the show is "150 baht" but then the women performs 15 different things. When you leave they will charge you for each thing stating each one was a different show.

How did you do?

I went once 3 years ago and didn't do well. Found the girls overall didn't speak much English, and seemed uninterested.

I also didn't have the game level then that I have now, or know Thai culture very well, so take my striking out with a grain of salt.

Went with a girl I'm banging and 3 of her friends (1 other guy who is Thai). It was my first time in Snop (I have been to Zaleng though) and there were quite a few girls eye fucking me. Not sure how I would have done with a couple of wingmen and a bottle. I will be checking it out later this month for sure.

You will always hear 1000 different opinions if a place is safe or not.

I personally always felt safe there and havent found a place in Asia that is not safe. On the other hand I do not know many Thais who would even go to Ratchada or similar places. The place not being safe, along of being a lower class area, are the two most common reasons.

You will get much more attention in these places as your novelty factor is higher. Foreign competition is unlikely and the local competition has smaller pockets and names then in most other clubs. On the other hand girls are less likely to speak English. And sure, you might get into trouble if "stealing" girls from the wrong men. But this can happen everywhere. Also be aware that these places used to be popular for underage kids (not sure if this is still the case though).

I feel a lot like you and feel safe anywhere in Bangkok. I think this is because we are more socially unaware. For example, in my home city I know places where there is a lot of trouble, yet when I take friends or family from outside the country there, they can't believe how safe everything is.

I think we don't know what to look for in Bangkok as well as Thais. Just one aspect, maybe I am wrong.

I honestly think you would be safer in these places statistically then around lower Sukhumvit. Down there you are a target to a number pick pockets, drug dealers, the cops and the taxi mobs.

I think the biggest threat in BKK in regards to violence is always going to be the drug takers. If you encounter someone on Meth they are on a downward spiral as it will consume them. Stay the fuck away from those people.

Outside of that you have the groups of dudes whose social circles primarily consist of provincial types. Young, fit as fuck (used to be rice farmers) and newly found relative wealth. These guys are actually salt of the earth for me and I'll usually win them over with some Issan words and some shit talking but these guys aren't accountable to anyone in Bangkok thus the potential for less of face is less. They will band together and beat the shit out of you if they see fit.

Higher society Thai guys may do shit if they are super rich but they will usually act as a lone wolf and their mates will drag him off before shit goes down.

I felt safe, although you need to be aware of your surroundings. I'm glad you asked the question because a girl I was dating 5 years ago told me she had a guy pull a gun on her in Ratchada after she left one of the clubs on soi 4. When she told me this story, I had actually just moved here and didn't know much about that area. The exact details escape me; did he follow her to the car when she left the club or if she was in the car already when he approached her. What I do remember, is that he politely asked her to roll down the window and when she refused, he pulled a gun out. Amazingly she put the car in gear and drove off very fast, damaging her car in the process by driving it straight off the parking lot onto the street. The whole conversation started when I told her how safe Bangkok felt. I also witnessed an attempted purse snatching two days ago (Monday 4am ish) on Suk soi 19 just down from El Gaucho steakhouse. I was talking to a girl and her two friends were walking a few meters ahead of us when one of them hit the ground. I looked up and a scooter with two guys was blazing away down the soi. They didn't get her bag, but the force knocked her down and her shoulder was quite sore. Afarang you are not wrong, most foreigners visiting here (and a few who live here) are socially unaware. That said, I will still hit up the clubs in Ratchada from time to time.

We went to Ratchada4 one Friday evening, went to the club called Zaleng since it's supposed to be the most popular one. In there it was not more than two groups. Checked out the other part of it too which is one the left side with sitting tables but it was also as good as empty and had the shitty Thai music. The other clubs in the area also seemed stoned dead. So I'm surprised that you guys found good parties there. We left for RCA instead.
