So what kind of people create fake blogs and twitter accounts called FutureExBanker whose sole purpose is to post made up shit that tries to make bankers look bad, but in friggin California where even branch managers are making minimum wage? I mean, couldn't they be a little less retarded and actually choose people who were, maybe, well, actually rich? Do they really think rich people lunch at 2pm in the afternoon at True Food Kitchen at the mall!
And what kind of people, when the doctored receipt hoax is discovered and the whole thing backfires on them, pull down their blog and twitter accounts and hope everything goes away?
What kind of people are those?

And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

RE: Banker's Tip To Waitress: "Get A Real Job"
Everyone who has never worked as a server (or similar service position) should shut the fuck up about this issue, because you really have no clue what you are talking about.
If all servers in California got paid was minimum wage, no one would be getting served shit because the job isn't worth $8 an hour, which you can not live on in California. And I know your reply "Well then they should get better jobs!", but then who the fuck would serve you your food if they did that?

I take it you have never worked as as a server in California, so you are just talking out of your ass. Cash tips in California are not tax free, you have to claim them, and some restaurants (Chilis, where I worked) go to greater lengths than you would think to make sure you do. If our credit tips were too far out of proportion to our cash tips we claimed, we could get reprimanded and even fired.

Servers are entitled babies. I've heard servers whine about only making $200 a night in a 6 hour shift. Meanwhile the cooks who work harder longer days get no cut of that despite the fact its us that get them their tip. Good line cooks will bust their ass to keep service times tight while keeping food quality as good as it can be. Good hot food that comes out fast is what gets servers their tip.
Hey, fuck you, Chad! If you cooks were not always fucking up my order, I wouldn't be bitching about my tips being low lol.
Of course, I worked at a Chilis, so our cooks had no skills and fucking sucked anyways.
Be nice to the cooks and we'll make sure you get yours first
Seriously, I know so many servers that are total cunts to the cooks and then wonder why we dont care when your tickets get lost. Then there's the nice sweet girl who brings us water and her food is always up first and always hot.
Rio is right about the claiming of tips, although the most work some servers do in a night is crunching the numbers to make sure they claim as little as necessary on their cash while pocketing the rest.

That's the problem I have with the issue.. particularly in California.
It is expected that the customer pay at least 15%. A lot of people do it out of habit. One time I was at a lunch and the waitress completely forgot one of our orders, and didn't do anything to really make up for it when she found out (a while after we had all received our orders) but the person paying the bill still gave her 15%.
The problem is that giving the tip is basically something that just happens, and is expected of you, without much consideration that what you are giving is in fact a tip.
Most people don't look at it as a tip anymore, but as another tax. They don't realize that there is a lot of grayness to tipping. The tipper can tip whatever he wishes, but most people would never want to seem cheap by tipping "too little."
Now that I think about it, that OP waitress was probably servicing other tables as well, so that $20 expected tip was just one of probably 3-4 tables she was working, so she could potentially make up to $75+ an hour if she finds herself at the right restaurant. I know that restaurant that she is working at, and it's right next to a bunch of financial/law firms in Newport Beach. She has the right type of client, so she is most likely working 6 hour shifts and making more than most of her college-graduated friends in a year.
Like I said before, I don't think any server deserves to make more than any professional/educated worker.
Exactly, the fact that the cost of the food impacts the amount of tip the waiter receives is silly. Serving a $100 steak is no more difficult than a $5 burger but it is expected that the server receives $14 more.
wrong.
a server at a high end steak joint needs to be able to not only discuss the finer points of dry aging, but also recite on command each of the ingredients, their originations, the preparations and suggest pairings for every item on the menu
if you think that is the same as pushing #1 on the cash register, you've obviously never dined at a fine dining restaurant.

RE: Banker's Tip To Waitress: "Get A Real Job"
you guys also forget that from those tips is where the bus boys, water boys, hostess et al get paid.
the servers have to "tip out" to each of them. it can be up to 20-30% of gross tips.
also, when you assholes are figuring out their "hourly" wage, don't forget the two hours on each end of the shift that they have to do "side work" where there are no paying customers.
then take into account that this is a "commission" only business in that they only get paid if the place is busy.
there are plenty of times that they come to work, shit is slow, and they don't get paid.
it is normal to get compensated for that risk.
i'm an over educated, white collar, entrepreneur/executive - but coming up, i waited tables.
you arrogant twits should be required to do the same.

This. Times 1000. You could train a 10 y/o to wait tables effectively in less than a day.
Breanna(spl) probably forgot this is America. Affirmative Action and EEO can get her a degree and cushy job with benefits even if her IQ 19.
Here in the states the tip is normally called "gratuity" which is ironic b/c alot of places compel you to pay it with your meal cost.
Divide again by a 1000 and then subtract by itself to equal zero.
Like I said before. Low skill or high skill, "educated" or not doesn't matter. If there's a high demand for their services and they're working off commission and busting their ass for it... why put a limit on their income?
Wait...I smell jealousy...

this is simply not true. if it was so easy to make this easy money then why wouldnt you see a different kind of person filling the job?
when you say $50 do you really think that is $50/hrx40 hours x 52 weeks?
the people that make the most money waiting tables make around 60-80k per year. and those guys are professionals at their craft.
it literally takes YEARS to make a waiter of that caliber.
the way you talk, it is clear you've never been to a high-end restaurant because when you actually learn things from your waiter and you never want for a thing and the service actually is a marvel to watch - you never EVER feel like you're over paying.
stop eating at chili's and complaining about the shitty service.
actually LOOK at the bitch you're tipping and tell me you would switch places with them?
thats as shit of a job as there ever was, with pay to match.
