So I'm walking around the mall yesterday afternoon and I walk in to the Apple store. The place was packed just as bad as any club I've been to. The ratio of girls to guys was easily 4/1. Seems like the perfect day game environment.

I hit up one of the prettier sales girls and start asking her about the iRadar detector. She goes through her speech and I kick it into ramble mode and tell her how I got clocked doing 135 on the Parkway one time so I really need it. She responds with OMG that's crazy. She got pulled over for speeding in the mall parking lot doing 30 in a 15. I laughed at her.

Should be easy to number close. Just hand her your iPhone and let her punch her number in. Looks like she's helping you. Anyways ...I went for the number close. I used the "You seem cool" line. No dice. I spent a whole hour in there. Hit up two other customers. Shot down again. Not a problem. I won't be deterred by it.

Any of you guys have any luck there?

I was there a couple weeks ago. A frenzy for sure. Everyone was waiting for help and the staff was overwhelmed. I have better luck in the starbucks line. You know? I've never had coffee here before. what do you get?

I like the way you think. You need to come here sometime and hit up the fast food places with me. Chick- will -lay seems to have the best talent. Our local KFC has some straight up neck tatted sluts working in there. I would not be surprised if you could bang one in the place.

It's not surprising to find a lot of girls there. Apple products are the most potent of chick-crack: easy-to-use, impart status, powerful copy-cat pressure, allow them to easily gather attention through social networking and rapid-fire texting or deflect attention (earbuds).

But, I'm also not surprised that it'd be a little harder to close there. Girls are on a mission and the chaotic feel in there isn't as conducive to closing as, say, Starbucks or another store. The "culture" in Apple stores, in other words, doesn't encourage browsing and relaxed meandering. It's a mad-house in there.

Your best bet might be to corner them on the way out, when they're coming down from their "haul": "what'd you get?" kind of game.

I've been using ipods/iphones to open girls on the subway: "Is that the phone or just the regular Ipod?" or I ask them for the time first and then they pull it out. It's so funny that even though everyone has a cellphone, and even though most subways cars do have a clock, people are generally cool with having to take out their phones to check for you. Sometimes I open without even saying anything- especially if she's got her headphones in. I'll just lightly tap them on the arm and then point or tap on my wrist.

I then ask them questions about how it works etc.
Girls are in love with them, so they start rambling about how cool it is.

Then I pull out my old school flip phone, and start teasing them about how their iphone doesn't even look like a real phone.

I've gotten numbers by starting this way. Still working out the kinks though and am trying to get my day game tighter..

I was on my way to work this morning when I saw a dark-haired, long-legged, olive-skinned beauty in the subway. I was getting AA.

We got in to the subway car, and I said fuck it, I've got to do this or I'm not a man.

She had her headphones on. I lightly tapped her on the arm and said: "Is that the droid?"

She replied: "No, it's the old Iphone, the front is cracked and I'm waiting for a new one to come blah blah"

I asked her what it was like to have to use the touch screen, and then ran my spiel about not wanting a touch screen and keeping my old flip phone because I like the tactile feeling of the buttons and I like to actually have something that feels like a phone.

Man, she went on and on.. it was great. Then she asked me about by guitar. I described the music I play, which happens to have traditional roots, and she built a connection between the old phone and my music- an image of me as someone who rejects modern technology because it is superfluous and only cares about the essentials in life. Thus, we were able to have a short conversation about having a meaning life, all within the span of 10 minutes.

Pretty soon, she had missed her stop, and she was asking me to take take her number! I pulled out the old flip and put her name in, but had her input the number because I didn't want her to inadvertently give out her number to anyone in the subway car who was listening in.

Anyway, I'm going to push this angle the next time I use the ipod to open.

I did forget to put my number in her phone.. going to send her a low investment text now: "Nice to meet you, (her name). -Soup"

Has anyone else noticed that the Apple Store hires a lot of freaks? I guess they find it fits with being "trendy" or whatever.

I've had to go there a few times recently as my phone battery is on the way out.

The first time the girl who helped me had arm tatts and a bunch of piercings.

Another time it was a girl with a septum piercing, those fake stick-on eyelashes, and black be-jeweled fingernails. She must have held my eye contact for a solid minute when we started talking. I noticed that she had an engagement ring, too.

They hire alternative-millennial types. Just part of keeping their "hip" image.
