Incredible writing Ligurian. Very vivid and full of emotion. Makes you feel like you're there. I'd say it kind of shatters the dreams of beautiful Belarusian girls. The whole country is steeped in melancholy.

Incredible writing, I really thought that I was there with you riding in the car past the warning signs. I don't know if photos of your trip would add to the story or detract from my mental image. I identify with so much of what you say (your desire to learn history, understanding of the places you visit, finding that untapped beauty, going deeper into an unknown land). Please continue traveling and writing as it really is excellent.

Top notch writing Ligurian. I wish more people described their travels in this way.
I got pretty hooked there. I have also spent quite some time off the beaten track in rural Russia so it feels like I could visiualize most things throughout that story. The only thing missing was the fake police cars at the roadside.

I feel your post is unnecessary.

The story is in no way promoting or discussing P4P. It's just an honest report of an encounter that took place. In the context of the story I believe I was right to tell it.

I like your honesty and enjoy your writing style but whatever your intentions were, sharing with the world that you can bang a desperate Belarusian girl for 6$ will do no good in getting rid of the Greek Kamakis and whore mongers that also travel to EE and sometimes lurk this forum.

Best thread on the forum right now. Can't believe you passed up the beach girls in that last chapter, that seemed to be what you were searching for. But I guess when you're on this type of melancholic journey the goal and the hunt can get all twisted up with each other until you can't tell the two apart.

I'll tell the story succinctly.

So I was out in Brest with a local buddy there. He introduced me to a dude he said was local Mafia and after a night out at various clubs at about 4am me and this new dude are the last two standing. We went to a bar in the centre of town for a final drink. In the bar we see a table with three girls at it. Myself and my new buddy head over to the table and sit down with the girls. We were polite but drunk. After ten minutes this big powerful looking dude comes into the bar and straight to our table. He's with the girls it turns out and does not like our presence. That's cool and I'm ready to leave the table but instead of asking us to leave politely and saying 'sorry guys but the girls are with me, have a good night' he basically tells me and my friend to fuck off out of the place. I'm a happy drunk and don't really give a fuck about stuff like that, too old to go rolling around on the carpet over it. My buddy however takes great exception to it and refuses to leave the table. He's demanding to know why the big guy was rude to us. Fair enough but the conversation is going nowhere, in fact tempers and voices are being raised and I can feel the fight or flight response starting to kick in with my voice going up and down with the adrenalin of the impending brawl I feel I'm about to be in. I only want a bit of pussy, not interested in a bar room brawl. I'm trying to pull my friend away whilst telling the big guy to calm the fuck down as he was getting more riled up by the fact my buddy is not budging. The girls are now sqauwking and getting excited and I feel punches are about to be thrown and the big guy has a jaw that looks unbreakable and is sober whilst me and my buddy are drunk. The whole bar has turned to look at us. However eventually the girls get the big guy to sit down whilst I get my buddy to the bar. Fight averted and adrenalin subsided.

I order a couple of beers and believe that to be the end of it. I plan to drink my beer and go home. I go to the bathroom but when I return my buddy is gone. I think nothing of it. I sip my beer and suddenly turn around to check if the big guy is still there. He's not. I quickly go outside onto the street where I see my buddy backed up against the wall with this big guy forehead to forehead with him and swearing. Fuck. Instinctively I go behind the big guy and bear hug him to pull him back, not aggressively but just to pull him back and away from my buddy. However as I did this and pulled him back off balance my buddy immediately smashes his right and left into his jaw. Seems his jaw was not so hard as I thought. Fortunately his head did not smash back into my face. However I'm suddenly holding the big guy up as he's practically out of it. I let him drop. It made a horrible thudding sound as he connected with the pavement. On a long wall opposite the incident are about 40 people waiting for a morning bus to Warsaw who have no doubt all seen this and seen what looks in their eyes like me holding a guy so my buddy can knock him out. My buddy ran one way and after some drunken hesitation I ran the other. I went home and lay low nursing a paranoid hangover until the morning train to Minsk where I sneaked out of the city.

Did I have to leave town? Well to avoid visa problems in the future I thought it better to. On the visa form they ask if you have ever been arrested before in Belarus. Discretion being the better part of valour etc.
