Are your kids REALLY happier? How old are you? I know this belongs to a seperate thread, but most kids hate just about every aspect of divorces, whatever the PC and lamestream media will tell you.

Major props man. I am really curious about that situation though, as I feel that's exactly what I'll do if I end up getting married...

Why did you "own it?" Was it guilt? Did she find out and you had no other choice?

..Do you think you could have just had some on the side and never gotten caught or owned up to it?

The way I see it is this. If I'm providing $ and putting food on the table for her and the kids, and being there for them emotionally, etc. Then if I want to stick it in some horny 22 year old college chick randomly, I will damn well do it. Especially if it keeps me from snapping on my wife as she becomes a fatass. & that's just being realistic, I don't know if I'll ever get married. But seeing what has happened to all of my older cousins, etc. Might as well prepare myself.

@ElJefe, as a child of divorce and one who suffered because my parents did it all wrong I can say honestly that, yes, my kids really are happier. I was a complete beta in a relationship with a controlling wife. I had bought into the whole program and wasn't myself. I'm now more confident in my own judgement and I challenge my ex on matters of parenting where I never did before. She has to listen to me now because half the time the kids are with me and they follow MY rules. My kids now know for sure that I'm a MAN and their dad who is always there for them and they love that. The kids suffered for about 6-8 months after the split, but once they figured out that daddy wasn't leaving THEM they settled down. Yes the kids hated the divorce but now they are cool. They get two summer vacations, two Christmases and two sets of birthday presents from two parents who love them on their own terms. My ex is also happier, and I'm happy for her.

@rozayINTL, I owned it because I'm a man. I could have done just as you suggested and gotten away with it, but in light of her controlling nature I would never have felt true to myself. Now I make decisions on my terms. I own my life and I dominate it. I'm successful at work, I have many excellent friends, I make new friends easily and my girlfriend knows that even though I'm 49 I have options. She knows that if she doesn't take care of me I can do better.

Sphere. Thanks for the insights. You sound like a great dad. & I'm glad you're able to enjoy the situation with your girlfriend and with life in general. Good stuff.
