Other players draw chicks in with their own emotions.

Many if not most sociopaths do not realize that they are sociopaths. Something being wrong with them can't register in their minds.

Most importantly, as regular dudes, we can't "model" sociopaths and hope to gain their success. Some are born with the issue, others were abused early on.

Sociopath and psychopath is BIG difference. You can't lump them together like that. Sociopath as far as I know is basically an outdated term that refers to what is now called antisocial personality disorder = BTK

Psychopat describes someone who is generally very good with people and can often get a cult like following and is a good leader and otherwise not only not anti-social but a very good socializer, they are just a big time manipulator like Charles Manson

RE: Are true players psychopaths?
My understanding is that Sociopath replaced the term Pyschopath because too many people attributed the term to serial killers which has nothing to do with the original meaning. But I agree that you cannot lump all sociapaths/psychopaths together because each one may have a totally different spectrum of issues than the other. For instance one can have no feelings of empathy or shame but can very much feel anger. Others may just feel almost no emotion across the entire spectrum. Each combination produces a totally different individual.

RE: Are true players psychopaths?
I think adopting a few traits of sociopaths can be beneficial to this lifestyle.

By this I mean..rule number 1 = I'm number 1. Not talking about confidence here...just always looking out for yourself first. Always having your next move planned. Making sure you get what you need out of relationships. You try to go out and game or live abroad and you forget this rule you're fucked.

Nature vs. nurture...who knows? If you act like a sociopath or in an "anti-social" manner and it gets you laid it creates a positive feedback cycle and you start picking up some colder qualities.

RE: Are true players psychopaths?

Wanted to necro bump this thread because of some recent events, and also because there's some wisdom here.

Within the past month three different broads have called me a psychopath. The way 2 of them said it was mostly in a joking intonation, not like they're fearing their lives. But the first one to use that word on me was dead serious. Mostly they just accused me of being manipulative and incapable of feeling empathy.

At first it got to me a little. I don't necessarily want to be seen as a psychopath, especially not in my current social circle. But one thing that irked me is that some of these bitches are actually better, objectively, at ignoring the hell out of what they don't care for. Like we agreed in the thread about female awareness of male incels, you think girls care about chumps not getting laid? Girls give way less of a fuck about the dudes they reject than Ted Bundy cared about laws.

Like WIA astutely implied:

(02-13-2012 06:56 PM)WestIndianArchie Wrote:  But along the n-path dialogue, how much behavior of regular women could we classify as sociopathy?

The shit I get blamed for, girls are much, much better at. I'm just playing along. And I KNOW these bitches like it. The more I think about it, the more I think this is a gender, pussy-pedestalizing thing. You're unlikely to ever hear a girl described by the media, or another girl, as a psychopath.

What they mostly had a problem with was my way of handling the breakup. I've had to go through this so many times that I agree it seems heartless to a person on the outside. But I say things clearly, don't mince words, and rip the bandaid off. "I don't want to waste your time. You should find a good dude so you can get married and have kids. Clock's ticking." You just can't argue with that logic. Basically, I do the break up like a man, or how I believe it should be done.

Girls equate psychopathy with having balls and owning up to a tough situation without crying like a bitch. If that's it, sue me. I'd rather be a psychopath than a pussy. And she prefers that, too.

Firstly, people are using the wrong word. A psychopath is someone with psychosis, i.e. their brain is just so fucked up that "they lose contact with reality".

A sociopath is someone with mental problems specifically around how they relate to other people, generally the tell-tale signs being lack of empathy and 'shallow affect', no regard for the truth, seeing words and actions as merely the devices for manipulating others.

The thing is, the girls who're saying this to you are American. Frankly, after meeting a few, I can't see how an American girl can be lovable. They have none of the innocence or femininity or pleasantness that is required to trigger those feelings. For this reason, I'd suspect their claims that you're lacking empathy stem more from there being nothing to empathize with, versus you just being incapable of doing so.

The telltale sign is if you feel bad, i.e. ashamed or down, after doing something that made someone else sad. If you don't, then you may be a sociopath. If you do feel that, you're probably in the clear.

Almost without exception, when a woman accuses you of something heinous, it is projection.

Women count on men to be better than them, and when they meet a man who is on to them, or who can, God forbid, use their own tricks against them, it freaks them out totally.

She probably doesn't know what to do with you, and doesn't want to give it too much thought, or engage in any introspection, which she is incapable of anyway, so she thinks up the worst thing she can think of and hurls it at you like a lightning bolt from the hamster Mount Olympus.

I have experienced this too from woman who try every bit of nonsense and manipulation in their arsenal with me, and when they realize it doesn't work, oooohhh, suddenly I'm scared of you. You're cold. You're gay.

Whatever.

Impressive use of the search feature, but the original post date: 2/12/12. Everyone knows the numbers 2 and 1 are the calling cards of a psychopath.

Psychopathy has nothing to do with psychosis.

The two terms sociopath and psychopath are often used interchangeably, but there is an emphasis on sociopaths being more obvious criminal or antisocial types. Psychopaths tend to be more "functional" and are therefore far more dangerous when they have criminal leanings.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/wic...psychopath

People should also note that psychopathy, much like narcissism, is not binary. It's a scale. As a successful player you may be further long the scale than, say, a monogamous charity worker, but this doesn't necessarily make you a clinical psychopath.

A fascinating book on the topic:

Yeah my bad, got my definitions confused. Thought psychopathy was closer to psychotic than sociopath, but it seems to be mostly used interchangeably with sociopath like you said, but "worse".

Also as an aside, I despise the "psycho" spelling. Which sick bastard decided we would spell it like that? Even to this day I spell it wrong every single time.

I am a psychopath with high emotional intelligence. I found out a few years back and have tempered myself and was able to put the breaks on. Gaming was so easy I thought it was just a normal way of tilting the odds of life in my favor. While not dangerous or extreme I'm a fun person and I have great stories of the past.

A psychopathic personality although a mental disorder can be advantageous in this world.

Example:

I am the only one who has received the most raises at work while increasingly declining in performance.

I never got into trouble with work, freinds, law ect, but I may have deserved to.

Women are more attracted to a man who has a bit of disregard.

It's hard to describe our behavior as I never gave thought about trying to game. In a psychopath it comes naturally and elegantly. We become accustomed to a lifestyle scarce of limits or red tape and we can be smooth as silk. We're also really fun people with charisma. Thankfully I've been working on self awareness and have toned myself down but I still have times where if I don't like a scenario or particular flow of things I find myself automatically changing the vibe to my favor and I'll sometimes catch myself.

I'm not saying go out and be a psychopath but if you can identify some effective traits we have you could use that. You'll also have empathy which is something I wish I had.

No, America we have guns!!

Lol seriously though, I think you have that mixed up with sociopath. Those are the types who are violent, prone to outbursts of anger and what not. Lots of people are psychopaths. Many CEO's and entreprenuers. Famous people ect. you probably have some Freinds who are or at least know of someone who is. ... On the other hand. Sociopaths I would steer clear of.

I don't think so, although I will say when I was at my best as far as pickup was when I was in my early 20's and really didn't give a shit about anyone but myself and was very self absorbed.

That said these days I feel like you can be a player and have fun while not being a complete asshole, being honest and treating people with respect.

I do think the persona or textbook player or what alot of the PUA or alpha community has as a model of a player may be a bit of a sociopath.

It sounds like you are ignorant about the subject matter like most people. You can believe or not believe, but that doesn't stop some of the things he said being true.

It's an interesting subject. At least to me.

I also think that due to them having to fake some emotions to blend in, they become rather good at reading/manipulating people. They tend to be more self aware on that front.

RE: Are true players psychopaths?
I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm for credentials but this post isn't about me. I thought I'd stimulate an interesting conversation but there seems to be a disconnect with what many people think is a psychopath and what the American Psychiatry Association thinks. Many of you are mistaking it for the Hollywood version.

The latest evidence suggests that psychopathy is not just one classification but a complex blend of personality disorders and the degree of severity lies on a sliding scale if you will.
On one end you can have someone like me, fully functioning within society, mild, watered down and harmless. and on the other end you have a full blown Ted Bundy or Donald Trump.

So to answer the question, a true player is not a psychopath because he would ultimately have a concern for a females already fragile mental and emotional well being. Both player and psychopath are skillful enough and artful enough to game women however a true players actions would presumably be guided by a moral
compass. True players would be able avoid hurting a woman's feelings and a psycho just wouldn't care.

When we talk about American women it's hard to describe because we know things have blurred as a product of the last 50 years of gender role change in America. Women have become emotionally volatile as they become more confused in their societal place and we as men have now had to question whether a woman's feelings are really true, valid or should be taken seriously.

If you stop regarding a woman's emotions does that place you on the spectrum of a psychopath?

Qualities of a psychopath include an inflated sense of value, overconfidence, ability to manipulate others for personal gain, and superficial charm. The degree of separation is a lack of care for others feelings.

So there ya go, you're all a bunch of fucking psycho's.... Welcome to the club Wink

Might be slightly off-topic but if you guys want to dive into the mind of a true psychopath, read American Desperado by Evan Wright. It's about one of the biggest cocaine smugglers of the 80's, Jon Roberts.

This guy talks about skinning people like it's nothing, a highly detailed way on how to dispose of a body and how fun it is to "work" someone with a baseball bat. Another major trait of psychopathy he exhibits is how extremely observant he is of people.

I got the impression that most of the women in his life, some of whom share their stories in the book, were helplessly in love with him. Most of the people interviewed by the author mention how charming Roberts was.

A chilling and engrossing read about a man who got off on breaking every rule and law there is.

Thx for your recommandation, Just bought the book and there always is a thing that strike me, it's the way people can summarize a whole mindset in just one sentence or just a little more...

Jon ROBERTS Wrote:Desperado, the horse that I thought would win the Derby and make me famous as something more than a gangster, was a baby when I got him. He hadn’t been trained how to run, but he could already fly on the grass. He had good instincts. He didn’t like other horses. You don’t want a sociable horse. They stay in the pack. You want a horse who likes to run in front of all the other horses. Desperado was a killer. I named him Desperado because I saw myself in his eyes.

Without life experience this paragraph only mean shit but it reduce to the most understandable way to get further in life: "The more emotions you discard, The further you'll go"
