If I join a frat will I get laid more? What your experiences and the experiences of your friends who were in frats/not in frats?

If you're not very social and you join a fairly social frat, it will put you in a lot of social situations that will possibly help you become more social.

I personally didn't join a frat, but I had some friends who were in frats, and they always had frat/sorority exchanges and dances, so they would end up hooking up with the sorority chicks a lot. Also, depending on the campus, if the frat presence is pretty big, and the frats hold pretty "exclusive" parties, it would be a sort of status thing to be a part of a better frat.

But, it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get laid more. College Game is right-- he takes every opportunity to approach girls in and around campus-- and that leads to more lays. Even in a Frat you're going to be approaching girls, it's just that there's this automatic social proof, and you're constantly in a social environment so it could be better for you. It all depends.

All things being equal, and you are in the best one, YES.

But every school is different.

And always join the best one. Remember, second place is the first loser.

A mid-level frat or better, all else equal, yes, definitely. There are people with tight social connections outside the greek scene, but they're few and far between, and it seems like much more work. It's simple. You have a given number of social events to attend regardless of your greek status. And if you go greek, you'll have ones peculiar to the greek scene. The coolest guys tend to be parts of multiple scenes - one foot in greek life, another in a cappella say, athletics or the hipster scene, etc. So if you have other passions, continue to cultivate them. You may have trouble finding your ideal girl in Greek life, but not in say, the hipster scene. It's easier to pick up girls when you enjoy talking to them.

Do your homework before you join a frat. Know the pecking order of the frats. Know the type of guys and girls they attract. You can seek a frat most suited to your style, or one that's different, where you'll be an outlier and garner attention for it.

Frat membership indicates that you're not a loser, weirdo. Great frat membership indicates you treat women like absolute shit. Don't have a personal story, but I routinely hear of top frat guys drunkenly pissing on girls. Does that stop the girls from going to their house? Absolutely not. Maybe that girl hates that guy now, but her friends are more likely than not turned on by it. The hottest Greek girls get with the biggest assholes. Being physically big helps too.

It depends on how big Greek life is as well. At some of the biggest party schools, I hear Greek life isn't big. At my school, it's 30% of campus, and most of the cool guys/cute girls.

What is with you Americans and your frats? Here there are none, maybe two or three per university and they are a joke. If you are wearing a greek shirt at a CDN university it is basically a big sign saying "hey, I am a douche who can't make friends, so daddy's paycheque bought me these friends, who are just like me, flaming queer." This opinion is by no means at all a minority opinion.

CG, for the most part most people have the same attitude towards frats here as well. Yet, depending on the campus, and how active people are in the frats/sororities, the importance of frats varies. At my school it wasn't as big of a deal, but in certain schools where they have "Frat Rows" the biggest parties are usually held at the frat houses.

Please do not be offended by this, but every time I hear about frats it makes me wonder.. is this college or kindergarten? Is it a bad teen movie from hollywood or real life?

I live in the states and that's pretty much my impression of fratboys. Many people I know feel the same way.

Did anyone see the movie Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher? The frat scene was so awesome with all the hot girls walking around, made me wish I could live something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

If you don't know shit about frats, just move along. The value of a frat depends on the college and its place in the pecking order, but like I said, being part of an additional scene can only help. If you're in the coolest a cappella group, the football team and the international scene, maybe frats won't have much to offer your already vibrant social life. Otherwise, it'd probably be a boon, at some schools at least, and if you fit in to any of the cool frats.

I'm not the biggest frat dude by any means, not even in a frat technically, and there are lots of tools in frats, but the people who knock frats are almost always worse. Accept it for what it is, and stop being a little bitch and mocking it.

also, absence increases perceived value ---> if you are known within a certain scene, and yet don't spend much time in it, your value usually increases, as it seems like you have better things to do.

Ok, even better than frats are the International events or clubs or whatever. Check out the French speaking clubs or Spanish speaking or whatever... or Brazilian/Portuguese! There are a ton of ways to get the most out of college. You will seriously regret it if you don't take advantage of college when it comes to getting easy tail.
