Learn to pause at the appropriate times.

Become a master of pitch/tone, know what words to emphasize and how to do it.

Talk to lots of older cats. Listen to their stories. Some of them are pretty good.

And when it comes to telling stories as a game tool, practice two or three great stories and perfect them.

I talk a lot with my hands and I'm very expressive with my tone and my face. This makes it interesting and gets people committed to listening.

Go watch George Carlin's stand-up. Thats how I tell my stories. Over the top, wacky, but funny and with an interesting point.
