Guys with computer jobs "on lock"
I was thinking of this when I was reading the thread about everyones hours.

I have my 8 hour 9-5 job on lock. I have about 3-5 hours a day "free time."

Anyone else with this situation? What do you do with the extra time? I am looking for better ways to use my time.

me (in no order):
1. google reader
2. 2-3 forums
3. networking sites like facebook
4. searching out new tracks to dj, or networking

had to eliminate podcasts and i have been trying to start reading some ebooks. Went through Ferriss' stuff and I am on Gladwell's Outliers now.

Two words - online dating.

Ever gave that a shot? Once you figure how to do it you can build a steady stream of new women. I know a guy who's gotten so good that he has altogether given up other forms of game!

I started going to the gym. I spend about 8-10 hours a week in the gym now simply because I know I'm not really doing much else. Picking up hobbies is good too. I'm going to make an attempt at parkour this summer, if only for the stories. Any hobbies are good, especially if they're interesting. Not only do they make you a better person is fodder for building rapport and DHV with potential bangs.

Reading and testing what you read is the straightest path to self improvement.

Do something useful:
- Find a part-time job which you can do on a computer and do it (assuming your employer doesn't care);
- Run online dating if this is something you want (there are chicks in the same position as you are - who have nothing to do and ready to chat);
- Read a good book, learn something you;
- Read Wikipedia, same;
- Learn a foreign language;

Time is precious, and if you feel like you need to kill time, you're not doing as much as you can.

I think this is my biggest source of angst at work. I am far to efficient to be refreshing facebook all day long. I am going to instill some ferriss style batching to my day.

@Chad - The problem is that I have to be in my chair from 9-5

I made a google calendar that reminds me every hour on the hour to do some sort of physical activity that requires leg activations. Maybe this will help with all the sitting!

To start, get rid of facebook. A great time waster.
