That's not entirely true. You can resist an unlawful arrest, although in the end it's just a bad idea to do so. And unlawful arrests very rarely happen because 'probable cause' can be anything the officer pulls out of their ass.

This is another case of Top Cop wanna be hero causes escalation. It appears cops are already on scene talking with the family when dash cam guy shows up. He says seperate everybody in quite an aggressive tone. Then when the father says no, the cop says fine then we are arresting you and he grabs and appears to start handcuffing somebody. He showed up looking to instigate a situation plain and simple. Just another bully with a badge.The family had balls to stick together in that situation and the cops killed one of them for it. Hard to see from the video if the shooting was justified though.

Why didn't these officers just pull out batons at the very beginning, distance themselves from the group, and fight attackers on the defensive? Seems like they underestimated the group and were overconfident. If at the first sign of a brawl they pushed themselves away from a wrestling scenario and pulled out a melee weapon they would have been fine is my guess.

The problem seems to be the cop closest to the camera in the beginning. His two partners are calmly assessing the situation, one that is obviously tense. Man comes in aggressively touching and it awakens that family fight-or-flight response already mentioned.

This crazy white family obviously behaved like savages, they should have behaved in a civilized manner and not like stupid, brainless, violent thugs. Getting at armed police officers who see citizens as quasi enemies and potential threats is not a wise thing to do.

They were incredibly lucky this time. But next time if they want to stay alive they better learn the correct way to interact with police officers. I dont care about their religion or strong family values, its not a excuse to attack police officers and behave like violent thugs. Obey the law, dont be aggressive to cops, and 99% of the time it will be fine.

Dont have any sympathy for these hillbillies. Resisting the law is not wise or intelligent to do so. They escaped the consequences now but next time it could be deadly.

Escaped consequences? Their brother/son is dead, they are all in lockup, and those that aren't sent to juvey/orphanage will be going to prison.
All because a female walmart employee couldn't use the restroom.

If the cops just hung back and watched them while they left, NONE of this would've happened.
The moment you throw a cop in there, shit gets escalated.

The cops may not know it, but all they are there for is to make the courts money. Sure the sides of their doors say "to serve and protect" they just don't mention the court coffers.

The father is a real piece of shit in my opinion. He has 5 sons and one daughter and was willing to sacrifice all of them for absolutely no reason. During the whole brawl, he never tried to tell his children to stop fighting to save their lives. His sons acted like well trained fight dogs...

It seems like he felt invulnerable with his own little army of sons.

When I look at the face of the three children, I can't help but feel pity. They look like they were brainwashed and never went to school, totally lost and probably retarded intellectually. They look like they do not even understand what happened.

It was not a smart decision to fight the cops but the head skinhead cop in charge thought he was dealing with the typical people who would roll over immediately at the first sign of intimidation and his usual bullying tactics. Most of the time people will, but every once in a while..

Yea that's what I was thinking. Why do the cops just rush everyone and try to separate them. Whatever happened to chill the fuck out and ask some questions in a calm way.

Then the cops try to go one on one like some kind of action movie.
I'm not saying the family was in the right but those cops were really uncoordinated and should be retrained on how to handle situations better.
