Yeah, that's why I swipe selectively. I only want to match with girls I'm truly into. And for a time, that was happening. And then it wasn't. The height of my Tinder run was late summer/early fall. I had gotten about 200 matches in two months. And then I hit the wall. I would struggle to get one match a day, despite swiping through hundreds of profiles. I would delete my profile every few days and start over, but it was the same shit. Get one or two matches that first day of making a new profile, and nothing after that. Then tinder plus came and it's even worse now. It seems most men here agree that it's worse.
I don't think it's premature to say they're finished. I think most would say that they are. There are other apps that do pretty much what Tinder does but for free.
The only reason it's still somewhat kicking is because no new app has come out to take away the market share. Hinge, Bumble, and Happn all have a variety of things wrong with them. Whether it's lack of user base, buggy performance, or stupid gimmicks like Bumble's thing where women have to initiate the conversation or the match expires after 24 hours.
If/when a new app comes and does exactly what Tinder does - swipe left for no, right for yes - but it's free, and there's no performance issues - Tinder will be officially done.
I expect something new by the summer as we live in a pretty fast and competitive world, but who knows. I think it's safe to say though that summer on Tinder this year won't be quite as enjoyable as it was last year and the years before that. They're certainly not on an upswing.

For anyone trying to make a fake facebook they now seem to require a phone number. I think they purposely try to not allow text forwarding or texting apps as verification and try to limit it to real phone numbers. I read an interesting article the other day talking about how straight people need a Grindr. If you were to ask people whats the straight version of grindr they'd probably say blendr or tindr but basically the article said neither are really the smae thing, both kind of bill themselves as meet friends even though most peoples intention is sex, straight people need a straight lets fuck type app like grindr is for gays.
I've never been on grindr but appaently you have to upload like a leg pic, stomach pic, ab pic, bicep pic. I actually think that would be pretty cool as we all know how girls do the 45 degree angle pic or above the shoulders. I've hooked up with chicks before where they may have a nice face but got some tree trunks of legs or some other body part that just doesn't do it for me. If someone came up with a straight hookup app for straight people that was like legs, butt tits, face I think it could be a hit. That said probably only straight whores would be on there as most girls even if that is their inteniton dont want to put themselves out there like that. There are definitely girls who will use a real hookup up.
For example the girls who used Tinder in the early days (nowadays most girl's Tinder profiles i see say "not looking for a hookup") or all the girls on okcupid who list "casual sex" in their profile.
Of course there are still insane amounts of girls on both tinder or okcupid who are down for casual sex, they usually just need to be cooked tuth's first date bang recipe first.
In my experience most girls on okcupid who put "casual sex" in their profile are overweight or cam girls.
I think some questions that may shed some light on this are:
1) Why did tinder succeed as a hookup app in the early days?
2) Why is tinder no longer primarily a hookup app?
These are the main theories:
1) The percentage of women who want NSA sex is low. Tinder's early adopters were into NSA sex. As tinder saturates the population the percentage of women on tinder who want NSA sex necessarily drops.
1.A) Tinder's early adopters were younger. Youth is somewhat correlated with a desire for NSA sex.
1.B) Tinder's early adopters were partiers (Tinder market intentionally focus on this demographic). Partiers is somewhat correlated with a desire for NSA sex.
1.C) Tinder's early adopters were by definition greater risk takers because they were willing to use a new dating app.
2) As tinder saturates the male population it is easier for women to find the best looking guys. This theory implies that Tinder is still a hookup app for guys with chiseled abs and model faces.

Number-of-times-per-week-that-girls-want-sex = 2
With these values no guy who is below a 5 gets to fuck a girl who is 3 or above. No guy who is below a 4 is getting laid at all.
As long there are more guys that want to hookup than girls and as long as guys want sex more often than girls do, any straight hookup that is very efficient at matching people will be a wasteland for guys that are not photogenic.
I think the conclusion is that guys who have little luck with tinder would have much worse luck on a straight hookup app.
