The billboard was posted by Teakwood Builders Inc. It features a kitchen with the text “Your wife wants me” printed on the sign. The billboard is located between Siena College and Newton Plaza on Route 9.

Some Siena students found the billboard to be sexist and offensive, so they gathered under the billboard in protest on Tuesday afternoon.

They held signs that read ‘I prefer an office,’ ‘Men can make their own sandwiches,’ ‘Women left the kitchen decades ago,’ and ‘I can buy my own kitchen.’

Imagine, if you will, this assortment of chubsters, butterfaces and androgynes spending hours preparing this protest. Chattering excitedly as they paint their signs, swap slogans and imagine the social justice glory that awaits them. Today, they tell themselves, we're going to make a difference, to, like, equality and stuff. And more importantly, there'll be cameras, so everyone can see how much we care, about, like, oppressed people.

This is especially egregious towards students at our institution as many of us are working towards financial independence in hopes to have successful careers and equality in our relationships.”

Yeah, they were probably feeling pretty good about themselves. Not that that's important! No no, it was more important that they drew attention to the issue. Which was, er...well it was something to do with the patriarchy.

Now all they have to do is sit back, and wait for the kitchen company to come apologising.

They sent the following response:

“Thank you for the message regarding the report on our billboard in Newtonville. A vast majority of Teakwood’s clients are women. Frequently they are the decision makers about major expenditures. This billboard – and the entire “Your wife wants me” campaign is good-natured, tongue in cheek fun meant to appeal to women who have a sense of humor, a sense of history and healthy self-esteem.

We applaud the students involved in the protest for their excitement about their cause.

And we thank them for drawing attention to the gorgeous Teakwood kitchen on the billboard.”

Now imagine their faces falling as they realise all they achieved was getting a little fresh air and wasting some perfectly good paint.

Talk about maintaining glorious teakwood frame. Whoever is in charge of their advertising needs a raise. Game recognised.

Who in their right mind would rather be sitting in an office than a kitchen, much less a badass kitchen with an island and stainless appliances? Having a nice kitchen is a focal point of a house's value. Who the fuck has ever toured a home with an agent and the agent proudly declares, "And take a look at this...beautiful office!"?

Making a sign that says "I prefer an office" is pretty much like saying, "I don't give head or do doggy style." Yeah, way to elevate your SMV, dumbass. Bet you're going to land a real keeper with that attitude.

This is a perfect example of being outspoken purely on some deluded sense of uninformed principle. The fact that a kitchen is still a symbol of patriarchy and oppression...it's like someone telling a bad joke for the 100th time.

Imagine a billboard with a Lexus saying "Your wife wants me" and some snarky bitch holding up a sign saying, "I prefer an '84 Civic".

Edit: And on top of it, look at the actual sign, "i prefer an office". Lowercase "i". All cursive except "office" which is strangely capitalized and in print. It looks like a sign a 6 year old would make. The grey matter between her ears must be working overtime just to make sense of the world, it's amazing how these misanthropes are able to make it through each day without driving themselves off a cliff.
