Was skimming reddit - there are some pretty funny/obnoxious ones in here.

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/commen..._problems/

Quote:When you hit the penthouse button in the elevator but no one's in there to see

Quote:My Boss traded in his BMW cause he got a flat tire and just bought a different car on the lot instead. He apperently got the flat on the freeway and just drove to the nearest BMW dealer and bought a different car.

Quote:I work at an airport for private jets.

There is a well known fashion designer that houses his place here:
Well, he ONLY drinks the water that his company makes. (It's not some brand that anyone can buy. It's strictly for him and his guest.)

Forgot a dress that was supposed to be at Fashion Week in Paris. So, the dress got to ride solo from California to Paris. Same day delivery, roughly $40k trip(he's a cheap fuck, he ALWAYS gets discounts on his trips)...for a dress.
He orders A LOT of sushi. $200 platter plates AND doesn't even touch it.
There is also a rapper that houses his plane here. His isn't a rich people problem, I just find it cocky as fuuuhk.

Well, his seat is in the back of the plane, facing away from everyone which is fine BUT whenever he is boarding or leaving a plane NO ONE is allowed to look at him. You must have your back turned to him until he is out of eyesight. I find that to be pretty uppity

Quote:Someone very close to me in life (not in terms of relationship, just in familial terms) was born into a very wealthy family. He is currently 40 something and still does not have a job.

Around ten or so years ago he had a job thrown into his lap: administrator at the local state college (semi prestigious).

The interviewer was his neighbor. All he had to do was leave his house and go to the back yard where his neighbor patiently waited. The interview would have just been a formality though. He basically was a shoe in.

This was about a 70k a year job starting pay at the time. Keep in mind he is actually pretty smart and could have easily become Dean or ended up on the Board of Education, etc, thus making oodles more.

He stayed indoors and played Starcraft instead. He would have had to walk 30 feet to have a job handed to him. When questioned about it, he said that the job offer was "beneath him" and "a total slap in the face".

He currently refuses to get regular work because "people of my social status do not stoop to the lower workforce" and pretends he isn't in massive debt while telling everyone he is a day trader even though he's gone nowhere with that idea. I seriously think in about five more years he will be homeless.

Tl; dr rich people who can't swallow their pride and are greedy about ridiculously good jobs are the worst

Edit: he also operates under the assumption that his father will bail him out of everything. Even though his dad told him clearly that he will be giving him no more money. He's absolutely delusional.

Wait a minute, the third guy flew a dress on its own private plane? Did it have attendants and stewards and whatnot??

Not sure if the is rich people problems or just examples of how things are:

- A business owner flys his jet with his wife 20 min for lunch. It would take an hour to drive which is about how long it takes once taxiing driving to/from airport. And his jet is a large widebody. Think 737/A320

- Latin singer always has his group leave the jet first. He goes alone afterward. Even in customs. I figure it's because he doesn't want problems if his group has drugs, or he's just strange.

- The child of a friend of mine no longer talks to her parents. The 8 figures they gave her she thought wasn't enough.

- Trophy girlfriend / baby moma is trying to destroy family to get more child support from the dad

RE: reddiit - What is the worst example of 'rich people problems' you have seen?
I find it's interesting more for fun and giggles, but you have to realize that they just eccentric and not bad examples - heh.

The most funny stuff I read was about Klaus Kinski - the German actor and 5000+ notch guy. He was quite well-known around the world in the 70s and back then he bought several Rolls Royce cars as well Ferraris. The reason why he bought several of those is because he sometimes left them in some street while chasing pussy. Legitimate reasons for him were for example him getting a rejection by some hottie, his car window not going down fast enough as he was catcalling a woman etc. - it happened often enough that he just left the car right there and bought a new one - also a Rolls or a Ferrari - next month - crazy motherfucker.

Another is about a Swiss guy I knew who bought shirts from Armani and threw them away after wearing them once. Later on he lost the money as his close partner turned out to be a fraud who took the cash of his clients and fled overseas. He was a lot more humble afterwards. I stayed at his penthouse for some time while living in Davos.

Other crazy shit that rich people do - porta-potty anyone?

And frankly I don't find even the Rolls-tossing Kinski overly crazy, albeit that's a lot of wasteful money. He likely recovered a few of those cars, but undoubtedly most got stolen and he lost some on those deals.

In any case - you have poor people doing crazy stuff like killing someone over 10$. Money is neutral - while it can mess with your head, severe lack of money can mess up with your head even more.

You can be a saint while being a billionaire. Albeit the money helps if you are a murdering psycho.

Chris Rock said if regular people saw what rich people had, there would be a revolution.

Given that most of them concentrate in certain zipcodes, they won't be hard to find when the time comes

Quote:Local billionaire Paul Allen wanted to put a helicopter landing pad at his waterfront compound on Mercer Island several years ago but the city said no.
So Paul Allen had a custom made helicopter landing pad ship built that motors out 100 yards into the lake beyond the city's jurisdiction whenever Paul wants to takeoff or land via helicopter. Zoning regulations are for normies.
Here's a pic of the ship http://imgur.com/DMZhYGe
and here's an article that mentions it

Similar to Paul Allen, a wealthy guy in Virginia bought a helicopter to commute into DC. His neighbors sued because of the noise the helicopter makes as it flys overhead. So you have millions spent on lawyers over saving 20 min from a commute.

I prefer the understatement of Swiss guys. Saw once a Swiss billionaire at a local train driving to Zurich. It was First Class and the quality of trains there was great back then, but still - doubt that many billionaires would go his route. Maybe that's another from of craziness...

A friend of mine (self made high 8 figures before 30) came within a whisker of buying a Scottish castle purely to house women/have parties in.

His wife found out about the purchase (not the utility intention) and scuppered it.

Guy I used to work for got the best of everything you could want. His beers were imported, his guitars were Gibsons, monster trucks for flossing the local girls. Fucker was a handsome bastard too. His parents begged him to take over the family biz. His mom got him helicopter lessons from a Vietnam vet that showed him how to land that thing safely into a tree. Just would not give up the cocaine.

Parents were total sweethearts too. Tried like fuck but they would not adopt me.

At my undergrad university there was an Arab Sheik's son who would only wear clothes once then throw them away. He had a personal assistant living with him who would buy him new clothes every day, cook his meals, and drive him to school. If he went out to eat he would only go to the top restaurant in town although he wouldn't go so far as to pay the restaurant to close down so he didn't have other people around while he was eating, as I've heard some of these guys do.

I was friendly with some Saudi students when I studied abroad in France.

One of them told me their buddy from Dubai was stressing over what kind of car he would buy while he was studying there, he was deciding between a Porsche or something else. He had the money he needed in cash stuffed in his wallet.

He would only be there for 6 months tops, in a rural French town, but this fucker needed to have a super car while he was there.

In high school, right at the height of the first dotcom boom, one of my friends parents were splitting up. The big argument to be settled in the divorce was who would get the 12 seater jet and who would be left with the 8 seater jet.

I know a rich guy who owns a boat in florida, not a bay liner or Yacht. It's an open air boat. Every time he takes it out, he has a whole crew come in and clean it after he is done for the day.

I asked his step son how to use the dryer and he completely had no idea. He never used it before.

One genuine rich people problem is figuring who your real friends are whilst trying to stay two steps ahead of gold diggers and hanger ons.

Yep, that's a real "Entourage" problem. The gold diggers are mostly easier to detect but some have some serious girl-game. I had one girlfriend that knew the game much better than I did. I broke up with her just because I knew that we would end up married, no pre-nup, and she would get half. She could make guys fall in love with her. She ended up doing exactly that to the very next guy she dated. Damn she was hot though.

Another real problem is the family dynamic. Usually one person in the family has control over most of the money. This creates a very fucked up dynamic of over-controlling, confusing love for money, etc.

I think we found Cardguy.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

They may be rich peoples problems but the senseless endeavor for spending money gives a lot of people jobs. New clothes everyday is an old trick but the amount of money they spend in a year would probably be noticed on a retailers bottom line.

Whenever I used to watch Top Gear and they had these hyper cars on show you would wonder who will these cars be aimed at? The guys who can throw a million or two in small change, thats who. Mayfair during the summer in London has a lot of these around.

Its a shame really because they just show them off and not use them for what they are. I would reckon most of them would die at the wheel if they went even 50% on the throttle in a real race with their super/hyper cars.

Essentially a "Rich Kid Problem" series. Very relevant and, speaking on the basis of extensive anecdotal evidence, pretty accurate.

"My mom won't let me go to Europe because I'm failing 3 classes. SO UNFAIR."
"I haven't been myself since I lost access to the jet."
"I hate it when the maid cleans up and I can't find anything for like an hour."
"She's hot but her dad doesn't own anything."
"I'm gonna have to miss it today. My help came late."
"The limo only fits 10? Jesus!"

That's an important point. The problem with money is the lack of velocity/market turnover of it. Especially when it enters the top 0,01% it is often not spent - and I am not talking about owning companies or real estate. A lot of it is simply invested in liquid assets, that really serve hardly any macro-economic purpose.

Anyone spending money left and right is contributing to the economy - the Russian rich are popular in Europe, because they know how to enjoy their wealth and spend a lot of it. And this does not even have to be unreasonable - some can have expense budgets of 50 mio. / year and still be richer next year.

Thus all the excesses are actually net positive for the economy unless they do really stupid crap like burning cash or giving it to foundations which in turn give it to big pharma (which essentially just increases their profits).
